This is the new 453 looks like they've gone the same way design wise as toyo Bstone and conti etc. bye bye uni directional tread patterns.

most of the GT40's were around the 180 mark, the XJ220 was at 197 mph but he had got a to a point where he was taping the joins removing wipers etc to eek out as much as possible. the mclaren le mans car even changed gearbox to put long gears in to try and beat it. must admit at idol the XJ220 sounds very agricultural. what was great was the cheif designer of the XJ13 was there and he was helping the owner of the XJ220 make it more streamline. the bloke had come to see the cars but ended up sitting on the floor with the owner cutting up a folder to reduce drag on the grille for those unfamiliar of the XJ13 this is it. the designer was a really nice bloke was good to have a chat with him.

This was my first Jag meet, and to be fair it wasn't really an exclusive XK only event. and this is why i thought i would share with you guys some of the stuff that turned up. instead of filling a page full of IMG links i thought it would be easier if i did them as a slide show/movie so there isn;t so much to scroll through. If you enjoyed the pics then this video is a compilation of all the footage i shot on the day, most of which is the cars going up the runway. the runway is 2.5 miles long and when i left the fastest car down there had done 197mph but there was a couple of runs left but i went home before they finished so not sure if they hit the magic 200 mph. i'll leave you to guess which was the quickest car. and as a final video piece for all you petrol heads i thought you all might enjoy this little bit of audio porn it was a reall mix of a day, and some cracking cars there. really enjoyed myself and all the guys were really friendly all the drivers were very welcome for you to come and have a look. and i must admit there was a lot of cash there vehicle wise. i think all the GT40's were original. i'll tell you what the yellow car is later, but its an origianl le mans car.

I think hexis do a red carbon will have to check.

great engines lots of toys a biug v8 and you can always pm me when it needs a gentle fix. think the S type is pretty solid, main issues most likely will be electrical gremlins, but suprisingly most can be fixd with a battery reset

don't use engine flush its a real last resort option and even then its not a good idea. it tends to dislodge alot of crap yes...and then move it in to vital lines and filters etc clogging and starving the engine. best advice is not to mix oils i.e. when you top up as this can cause gunking. if you must flush the engine use a cheap mineral oil, run it for a week and then drain it, and possibly do the same again, then put your nice oil in. would i bother with this; no gone are the days of the old enginew where its really needed. just change your oil often, and don't mix the stuff. if your uisng Gulf oil, stick to it, if your using castrol, stick to that etc for top ups.

how about this for a bargain http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ?logcode=p failed mot on emissions and missfire, i reckon its an easy fix with a new set of coil packs for £120 possibly a new exhaust anywhere between £300-£600 more if you wanted. and maybe a can of bg44k and some 10k boost £35 all in. fix and sell on or keep and play. its got special edition montreal 20" bbs wheels and looks in good nick and if it has no rust it should be in good nick. might need chain tensioners doing at £1k and gear box oil for £300, but at that it should be a solid runner for a long time.

i think this is nicer http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ?logcode=p

Okay, so I jinxed you after using you as my example then So what's the issue with yours then? not been jinxed they've been there since i bought it; just been putting it off. anyways the costs as they stand for the future: - change the timing chain tensioners = £1000 - de rust and paint the underside of the car = £150 - sort the rust in the sills and around the rear arches = £1500-£3000 depending on how i do it. but as half the car needs spraying as there are no panel lines to blend too the urge is to spray the whole car which could bring the grand total up to about £5000 - repair the drivers seat = £200 - possibly put new coils in all 8 cyclinders £150 - change brake pipes to the rear = £100 - new poly bushes all round = £500-£1000 (some need doing, but if i'm doing some i might as well do them all. ) - refurb the alloys =£400 then there is the new shiney stuff i want to add mina gallery may end up owning my wallet as will paragon design planned new rear when i sought the rear rust planned new sides when i sought the rear arches and sills and if i'm doing the sides and rear i might as well do the front but with black grilles and mina gallery http://www.minagallery.com/jagxp/Xk8mainoptionpage.htm but i'm excited about spending the money as A it increase the value of the XKR because good quality ones with all the work done go for alot more. and i'm enjoying restoring the car.

you beat me to the alfa itch nicely done

i'm getting to a point where i'm going to need to sink possibly the value of the car back in to the jag or half the value of the car depending on which route i take. so its not an easy run. but i must admit i've not had many problems, just lots of little fix its. as for merc box specialist http://www.auto-transmissions.co.uk/ the jag box is a merc box and these guys know there stuff. especially if its merc based. when i was down there, they had about 10 mercs in for work,

i run a navigon now but when i had the zed i ran a pioneer avic f500bt it had a mini amp that meant it played the audio through the cars speakers and muted the radio etc. had an SD slot so you could play DVDs etc.

my giant brembo jag calipers are looking chipped and i too have been toying a repaint. the only issue i can see with doing it myself is if you do it on the car it can be difficult getting a neat job around pipes etc. its best if you can take them off and do it but then the job suddenly doubles in size. if you need new decals i can sort that as well
-
good job if mother in law is annoying you can always get low profile ear plugs
-
there are a couple of gentleman officers on here i'm sure they could give you a better idea of how to approach this. i.e. what classes as parked etc.
-
looks great mate, quiet jealous. been bringing up the idea of australia in conversation, missus is not swaying to the idea yet.
-
if the hand brake was not on or you hadn't applied the footbrake, or the vehicle didn't stop moving then you're not parked. i think therotically for you to be classed as parked the handbrake has to be applied.
