  1. i always reassign my own bodyshop for work on my cars and never go on insurance reccomendations. they are only bothered about fixing a car for the cheast cost possible. which doesn;t always lead to the best job. your the 2nd person in a month to have had dodgy insurance work done.
  2. right i've got it planned now, this is what the rocker covers will be like once completed although i'm planning a more gloss finish and this is the rough plan for the engine bay already have an after market carbon airbox, but might upgrade for a polished intake tube to match in with the other bits in the engine bay. i know the red isn't really unique but it fits in with other details that are on or going on the car, like the wheel centres, the original SC XKR badge and the colour of the car. thought about going unique with the car, but at the end of the day its a jag and not a jap performance car. if i ever sell it, the car still has to appeal to the usual market. with the engine done though i'll next be looking at sorting the body work out, then cleaning up the wheels, and finally sorting the interior. during that time i'll probably have to do the bushes, maybe change suspension, but then the car should be close to mint.
  3. lots of 0% cards out at the moment
  4. keyser i don't like green that is for my own cars, if others like it
  5. i hate green
  6. don't worry there will be no blue, keeping it in theme with whats origianlly on the car. wrinkle i think is out. if i was to use it i would have done the rocker covers in it. the s2000 rocker cover was wrinkle and yes it does get dirty. it will most likely be a hammerite finish, as it works well with the heat in the engine and its harder wearing than normal paint. plus it will be cheaper to do than a full paint job but still look good. If i wasn;t dropping £1k on chain tensioners at the same time, i'd be more up for spending more. that and the cost of carbon finishing the rocker covers and the purchase of a new posh bonnet liner, and probably the need to splash some cash on some new ally bits. these are the hammerite paint colours. http://www.hammerite.co.uk/products/dir ... finish.jsp might even look at the hammered finish http://www.hammerite.co.uk/products/dir ... finish.jsp colour short list at the mo Red White copper gold

  12. thing is it will be a pig to keep clean, where as a smooth finish just wippes clean. i do like the wrinkle finish, but not sure its right for the SC and CC
  13. would that be with a wrinkle finish?

    Duel or not?

a true dual with no join between them is ok, but if you get one with an H or X pipe in it then it will be alot better. this allows both banks of the engine to scavenge exhaust gases and balance the engine. allows for a smoother run and should allow more gain. x and H pipes on V8's H pipes have a nicer note to them but X pipe allows for better gains. (or so i've been told) on an NA v6 like the zed i'd invest in either a custom built system, or a decent brand exhaust, the invidias are very good.
  17. These things had bolts on so they came out as well - I'll work out what they do later that looks like the brake servo those pipes were brake pipes and i don;t think it had ABS so i doubt its an ABS control module so i would supsect its brake servo
  18. if it was white it would need a nice high metallic count
  19. i had the same gaitors and they really set the interior off, not only that they feel so much better than the leathette of the originals.
  20. have to agree with you beavis, went in to pick up some booze from the local tesc ho, and they had christmas boxed chocolates on the shelves
  21. i did it with the XKR its 12 years old now, a list of problems the length of my arm, and i am one by one tackling them to make it 100% perfect. and to be honest, i've been loving the process and enjoying the car. now 18 months in i'd usually be looking for the next car. but i'm so happy i haven't bothered. always needs something fixing, when i do fix one thing, something else breaks. but its always been driveable, and i love the look and the presence the car has. if your financially in the position that you can cover any suprise issues, i'd say do it.
  22. you mean like this was tempted by the white, but not sure it looks as good as i thought it would, maybe a cream instead of a white? interior leather is cream.
