  1. plenty of room under those wheel arches
  2. dencent winter tyres like continentals and some snow socks should see you fine. a collapseable shovel and some short rolls of carpet and your sorted.
  3. From memory its 5 litres from empty to top up with oil. at 1.5 litres it would be just under the min mark at a guess or just on it. if thats the case you may well be ok. what you want to monitor is from now over the next 1000 miles how much oil the car uses. if its only about 1 litre per 1000 miles i wouldn't be too worried as some cars do burn oil. if its using more than that i'd be looking into why. if it is using oil i'd also try a thicker oil and see if that stems it over the next thousand miles.
  4. that doesn't look too bad, no panel damage so big saving on panel and paint costs etc. complete set of rays can be had for about £400-£500 between £100 -£200 per part needed i would say less than a grand to get that up and running. depends on who's doing the work. you or the garage. labour costs will be the biggest cost. 2nd hand parts will save you money, single rays could possibly be found for around £100 as crashes go i think you got off lightly.
  5. speak to tarmac, i'm sure he does them or may at least give you the sizes
  6. always found admiral to be very good, but of recent times i've heard a few people having issues with them, i may in the future move away from them if i feel their quality of service is dropping.
  7. lots of traders to choose from yellow stuff or ds2500 would be in my top choices for your budget and explaination above.
  8. ask them if they have to much work on at the moment, and that if thats the case and to save them face you are happy to take it else where as you need the vehicle. if they say its fine and give a time frame, keep them to it. if they fall through again then name and shame. give them an option to sort it. as said before people from time to time take on more than they can handle with a hope of sorting it. sometimes an easy way out can help them and you both save face. but empty promises that continue do not deserve the business.
  9. the one on XK8's was pi$$ poor as well. bought cheap tat and paid over the odds, didn't mention the major issues, stuck plasters on issues. adding shiny bits does not make a car good only good thing was the terraclean that they used.
  10. Did you try running the 452's in the right sizes to see if made any difference? It wouldn't make any difference to the grip levels. They are well known for offering very little grip, hell even Falcon have ditched the 452. Very surprised that people would run them on a 300bhp rwd car, especially advising them as a tyre for the op to run through winter i drive quiet competently on them in my car which is 380 bhp V8 and super charged, found them very good in the wet, and manageable in the snow. i drive all year round come rain or snow. not saying they are the best but i think the one thing people don;t take into account with tyres is their right foot. its not an on off switch. if you have a smooth driving style they are more than adequate. in the right width and offset they are fine. much better than the toyo proxies t1r, on a par with the vred sessantas which possibly have the edge. so many variables on each car. whats good for one is bad for another. the falkens have been a huge improvement over the pirelli assymetricos that were on previously which would twitch at high speed. XKR feels planted now with the falkens.
  11. deffo!! mate does it really matter how the ol bill know, they just do, it really does not matter they know it was you, you know it was you and we now all know it was you if you don't own up then your mum will face whatever consequence there may be, the end looks like their doing their job properly they just know
  12. see i was unaware of this; so in hindsight when i had that accident all those years ago and wiped out the bollards and sign posts i should have reported it to the police. i think the insurance company must have done on my behalf. as i don't remember ringing them. it is good that people are able to clarify it though
  13. I think mother over reacted abit taking him to A&E christ 10 small sips on a whiskeys not going to kill him, he'll just sleep very well that night by all means go ape at the F&B's but NHS direct and an A&E trip. I'd have doen it if he drank the bottle or it was bleach. yet another over reacting mother
  14. Sorry i'm reading this sporadically go to respond end up not doing for 10 min while i have to sort something else.
  15. wow, i think this is all being blown out of propotion, it is not neccessary to ring the police after an accident unless other people were involved. and even then only really in the case of an injury. my wife was hit on a dual carriage way, we rang the non emergency line and was told unless someones hurt there was no need to come out.
  16. worst case scenario is possibly pay for the damage to the street furniture i had an accident many years ago where i came off a roundabout 360 stylee and wiped out 2 bollards and a 2 sign posts. i believe the police were informed via my insurance company but i was never billed for the damage. i think it was absorbed in the insurance costs and dealt with by the insurer. if you did not go through the insurer and had it fixed off the books it could be that you will be billed for the damage and replacement of the sign post.
  17. if i was given one i'd sell it and buy something else with the cash look forward to hearing your feedback after your drive out. mates dad has one and they love it. i know its a popular car and by no means a let down. enjoy the test drive and remember to bring your captain brave pants and a spare pair for any accidents
  18. the caviar fish?
  19. still think its the cheryl cole of the car world for me. everyone fancys it but i have no interest respect its capability just don;t want one at all.
  20. What the hell is that???? is it moby dick?
  21. supercharged V8'ness is very good mine makes me smile all the time in sport mode
  22. as long as you match across the axle you'll be fine. if swapping to a new tyre do the rears now, and the fronts later when they have worn. as long as they are good tyres there isn;t an issue just avoid ditch finding tyres so stay away from the budget end. also people keep saying falken are budget tyres, they aren;t they are a mid range tyre. same as toyo, Vreds, Kuhmo etc
  23. i think her eyes are shut becuase she passed out with all that weight on her chest crushing her lungs and stopping her breathing
