  1. did you earth out the new stereo?
  2. of the list of cars you put up, i'd go with the vantage, but if i was given 35k and told to go buy a car of my choice....i'd need more time but i'd be looking at the likes of TVR Noble maserati Aston porsche as they are all manufacturers i've never tried, who all make cars i'd love to own. which ones depended on what you could get for the 35k, but i think my top 3 would be aston, maserati and TVR
  3. hard pipe is on the to do list, but i spent a lot of cash on this so stuck with what needed doing and will add in the extras when i have saved up my pennies.
  4. not had the carpets up yet, but i don;t think its too bad as its recently been sealed underneath. as for the mk4's i'm not sure exactly, i think the runners are slightly modified. looking forward to sorting the rust on the outside.
  5. i think its their age, its not deliberate, they just dont think
  6. exactly. i had loads of the younger kids asking if i would do the course with them instead.
  7. Are we talking crossed purposes here, he actually refers to poor performance when the engine is cold not when the outside air temperature is cold, well that's the way I read it You read correctly sorry lads, my c0ck up, on start up the car runs in i think open loop, and switches to a close loop when up to temp. oil is also cold in both the engine and gearbox. once up to temp it all works a bit smoother. i would expect that while the engine is not at temp and still on an open loop that it might be a bit slower and less reponsive. as for open loop its like driving with the choke out.
  8. you can buy a standard satnav, or you used to be able to, but from memory i think it was the best part of £1200, and its crap
  9. i'm off to play quidditch
  10. its alright i have a list of 20 students who are now black listed.when ever an a level student or another teacher has an automotive issue they all come and see me, and i always help; these kids just made the black list.
  11. not kidding, waited half an hour, and not a sausage.
  12. well i was let down by my students, none of them showed up
  13. its the advantage of prestige cars that are expensive to maintain, it weeds out all the commoners
  14. colder air is more dense, so should actually give better performance compared to that of a hot day.
  15. it will be nissans answer to toyota and subarus latest joint effort. i'd be interested to see what the next carnation of the GTR will be and especially what its power plant will be, the only way nissan would keep a V6 in the new zed is if it was a diesel.
  16. would love the new xj, very nice car
  17. some great stuff in there, its a shame i only have 30 min, lots of these are more to do with good driving practice, but some stuff will come up in conversation. i might run more courses for the 6th form if there is interest and maybe focus on driving practice etc. this is just a very short intro if you like.I've allowed for questions at the end as i think most will have some.
  18. you could also adjust them without taking the arch out. you could reach an adjust from the top of the light. but that may have just been the pre facelift.
  19. i'll try and cover jacking points as well.
  20. good point. you can take it off when its hot, but be prepared to drink a face full of hot coolant
  21. the self levellers only keep the beam pointing to a specific point. they drop over time for some reason on the zed, so occasionally need them adjusting back to normal. but to be fair the lights even when right are pretty crap on the zed as standard. the later bixenons were better, but compared to other cars they aren;t the best.
  22. already included in my talk about that section, just mentally stored not written down. was going to expalin that although 1.6 is the legal limit, doesn;t mean you should actually wait till you hit it.
  23. obselete already, needs touch screen tech
