  1. Im with elephant at the moment but when i was first trying to get the car insured admiral did get me a slightly lower quote but it was less than it would have cost to change my insurance over. Going to have a proper hunt around when I get my renewal though. Hopefully something nice for the 25 drop too
  2. If it helps im when i insured my Zed i was 24 with 1 years no claims and i live in a fairly rough area and it was pretty much £1000 spot on for my insurance. Also welcome along ill look forward to watching your build
  3. Saw you just pulling off onto junction 11A, im guessing you had an aftermarket exhaust as it sounded a fair bit deeper and louder than mine.
  4. My Zed averages about 24Mpg, thats with a couple of junctions on the M1 some national roads and some towns to work every day and some milling about town taking my family places. Pretty much in a cruise on the motorway at 70 i get about 35mpg roaming through town its about 16 or 12 if its really stop start. Just to give you some numbers to play around in your head with
  5. My HR cost me £7500 in march and to be honest prices have dipped a bit since then....also was so taken with the car i was an hour away driving home before I realised I forgot to haggle a bit xD. I havent driven a DE or Rev up but i will say the HR is really rewarding to drive and having a pretty high redline is a lot of fun Doesnt rev as high as a civic or a rotary but i will take the torque
  6. I had to take my backbox heatshield off since it was clattering about, it managed to break itself free on a couple of the bolts and the noise was irritating so i got rid of it xD
  7. I will have to have a little look around
  8. I think that might be my issue with the 350Z its the first japanese car ive driven and its kind of got that childhood side of my brain going and its making me think "Hey maybe everything is as good as I thought it was when I was a child" Its just a shame all the RX-7's and skylines and supras are so expensive xD I need a higher paying job....or someone who wants to pay me for a kidney
  9. Click his profile and you can find his build thread, he is right it does look good
  10. Im sure a lot of us would be interested in a lotus build thread somewhere
  11. Hey welcome along My advice would be try PMing Zmanalex on here, he tends to have a bit of everything when it comes to Zeds xD
  12. Thanks a lot had a brilliant day Saw you do a couple of laps @andy james But I figured something was off when i didnt see you again, hopefully its all alright the phoenix looked gorgeous on the track.
  13. First ever proper wash claybar polish and wax ive done. God its satisfying to see xD
  14. Spent today washing, shampooing, clay barring, polishing then waxing my Zed Would look amazing......if i didnt get called by work to let me know i was late.....felt like a tool driving around with half the excess wax still on the car -.- hopefully the 2nd coat will hide any imperfections that have popped up. ...Interior next... O.o
  15. I could be wrong but im assuming you mean the one at silverstone? If so theres this thread.
  16. Sorry for hijacking your thread then xD
  17. Could I be suffering a similar problem maybe? The car starts fine for the most part, everything turns on fuel pump primes but very occasionally it really struggles to crank. It seems like the battery is low but the in car gauge says its fine. Theres no specific leadup to it sometimes its after its sat overnight sometimes its after its been on for an hour or so then off for 10 minutes then back on. Just a little confusing and worrying as if it wont start i could end up stuck.
  18. As the title says Ken Block giving his own spin to the pikes peak climb. Have to say im in love with it
  19. The only thing I would say is ignore the tax bands. The little bit of money wont really factor into it when you take into account the car, fuel, parts. Just find the one that feels right to you. Check for obvious things like rust, grinding, clicking. Its still a car so a general look and listen should help and like you said yourself look for the Zed specific bits. One that got me was check the clutch make sure its still coming back up strong, if the clutch isnt returning properly the slave cylinder could be dying (what happened to mine) and thats a fairly pricey job. Technically there are 3 model types and 2 trims. You have the DE and Revup engines which have the flat bonet and single intake. Some revups drink oil some dont but they rev higher. HR has the bulge bonnet and dual intakes and apparently has a huge amount of revisions and again revs a bit higher. Then you get the GT pack with the big bose sub and the heated leather seats, some have sat nav some dont. But I would say one of the most important things would be the looks, find the colour you like. If you want it sunset orange with the orange interior find one and see if its what you thought in person thats the best advice I can give .
  20. I think generally speaking you should keep the parts the same, its what ive always tried to do with cars just seems to keep them happy.
  21. If they are what I think they are the Metal brake pipes on mine were coroded and my garage replaced them with some copper pipes so they shouldnt corrode as badly as before. (the pipe that connects the top of the caliper to the bottom). The calipers are brembo but the brake discs arent (to my knowledge) So find a set of brake discs desgined to fit the brembos, check some of the traders on here like torqen or others and they tend to say if the brake disc is brembo or non brembo fit and also if its front or rear as the discs differ. Hope ive been a little bit of help.
