Starting to punch into hypercar power territory there

Welcome to the forum

720 at the wheels has got to be close to triple the stock O.O Thats amazing. Kind of annoying how a ton and a half of brilliant work is brought to its knees by a couple of shards of metal deciding to bugger off.

Finally got mine clean on a sunny day with enough time to take some pictures I think this is my favourite.

Looking to buy 350 and wanting supercharging advice
Redsky replied to DW50's topic in Introductions & Welcome Messages
How did it end up like that O.o Hope no one was hurt :/ Must have been pretty hard to set the airbags off. -
Yeah I got the W brace the bolt kit and the 2 kidney brackets as they call them. Not sure what state your brackets will be in since they are a bit more shielded but mine were just rusted out same as the brace. if the brace is rusted the bolts will most likely be in a bad way as well so its worthwhile just to replace them too. Ive attached part of my order conformation just so you can see what parts I got. Just make sure you get one driver side and one passenger side bracket I nearly ordered two drivers side, not my smartest move. Its alright might as well spread the little bit of advice I have xD.

2nd dibs on the boot divider please -
Got my 07 plate HR 68K miles, leather bose and satnav. That was 7500, probably overpaid a bit to be honest sort of got caught up in the car xD. Pretty sure i could have talked the guy down maybe 1K or so. Still 7500 should get you a lot, something like a nice older Zed and some spare money for other bits or something newer with less miles. Just all about shopping around :D.

I can vouch for it :). Got mine from Torqen about 2-3 weeks ago after i found my rear brace was entirely rotten (pretty much in 3 pieces held on by a few flakes of rust). Ordered it, got here fast, no damage to it had it fitted by my local garage and felt the difference practically imeddiately. Even though my brace looked like it was still doing its job once it rusts it gets weak and limp, new one made the car feel, well new XD.

im 24 with 1 years no claims (didnt drive from 18-23 mostly at uni) got an 07 HR and I am on about 1K with elephant although I did have a quote from admiral at 870 but I didnt have time to swap over (my old car was with elephant as well). Looking to shop around once i hit my 2 years NCB.

Dont worry just spent an hour roaming the internet and found that its fairly common. Just didnt realise it was meant to sit that high.
-
Im not sure if this is maybe an HR engine quirk or maybe a ECU setting a previous owner did but since owning my car (since march, 2007 HR) Whenever I start the car regardless of temperature or conditions it starts and then sits at about 2200 rpm. I understand engine idle higher than their warm idle when cold but going from 800 rpm warm to 2200 just starting seems really over the top. If i leave the engine to sit their it slowly comes down in RPM over the course of about 2 minutes, where as if i put the car in gear and start to drive it happily returns to its nearly warm idle speed. Anyone have any ideas at all? Just worried i might have a fault somewhere along the car or maybe a dodgy ECU tweak.

Its alright sort of figuring bits out myself for the forum xD. For the moment im holding off on mods, i know once i start ill probably hammer it but just need to save up for a couple other things first then I can feed the desire xD. -
Welcome aboard Best thing to do like everyone said is have a little peek around, see what you like the sound of. Soft top/Hardtop, what colour, GT pack or not, DE, rev up or HR engine. Lots of little things

Welcome to the forum and congrats on grabbing yourself a Z

Did you replace it or just kept it off? Just curious if its necessary, getting it off was easy but i sheared the end of one of the bolts so i think ive got to go through the boot or somewhere to get to the tops of the bolts to replace them.
-
So started hearing a rattling from my back end going over speed bumps. Was worried I had lost part of my exhaust hangars or something similar, turns out to be a piece of aluminium from the back end just above the exhaust back box (maybe a heatshield or a spashguard?) But pretty much it looks like the bolts rusted and then started eating into the metal around the holes so eventually the left hand side gave out and was flapping about. Managed to take it off and now ive got to figure out where to get a new one or if its even worth putting it back on. Pictures to follow for anyone who knows what it is.

Hey that was me, was going to post up about yours on here xD. You have a really good looking Z if you dont mind me saying, made me jealous and gave me quite a few ideas that I think my bank account might disagree with :D. -
Welcome Oh and just so you know the handbrake tends to be a bit awful anyway.
-
Just had my new brace fitted, the old one was just pure rust, it was practically in 3 pieces maybe 3 or 4 mm of rust on one side holding it together. With the new W brace The feel and poise of the car feels incredible, i thought it felt great before (Went from an astra to be fair) but now it feels in a different league.

Yeah the issue ive got is ill be averaging about 10-12K a year with my 350. But i will keep that in mind. Maybe use that to clear the rust then place something a bit sturdier over the top of it perhaps.
