  1. Nah, what we need is Batman.
  2. Trying to multitask so my posts need editing.
  3. What if they have a bomb and a tazero sets it off?
  4. I do...English lit, I want my razer lol
  5. That is what the word volunteer usually means... Not sure how many times I have to keep pointing out that it's not my plan and I don't think it's a good idea though... Which makes it seem like you're arguing for the sake of arguing and being deliberately difficult. Its ok to say; you know what? You're right, I hadn't considered that. I did...its the future
  6. There is so much right place right time involved here, that even with super civvy squad, odds are a policeman is still going to be the closest attendee, unless the super civvies outnumber the police. In which case it becomes like the nationalist army in Ukraine.
  7. I think its always been this, before it was postal, posters etc. Now the digital age its FB etc, except ANYBODY can post and share. Can't wait until its over.
  8. Wasn't quite what I had in mind, but you make a good point.
  9. Stevo, you're right of course, i guess in my head I kinda forgot that during the cold war we advised people to hide under a table during nuclear attack. Run Hide and Tell is the best advise.
  10. Yeah we can call them the Orwells. I agree with that part in TT's idea, but if its what signs to look out for, its knowledge we should all be given. And I its a very valid point not all things can be preempted.
  11. Very good point Stevo, and it would have been the same on London bridge unfortunately. You can't prepare for that type of thing.
  12. It's a numbers game. Reduce the ease of an attack where there are lots of people. Even if it's just equipping a team of eyes with comms to report suspicious activity from known sources. Which is my point that through citizen knowledge, which we can all get through adverts, pamphlets, bus shelter posters etc. We all have a phone, if we all know what to look for we can make the calls hopefully before disaster strikes. Noone needs to confront them but we can call the already trained people who will.
  13. I read his point as we have a police force in place, we should look to invest in that. An influx of part time CSO's would cost a lot less. A switched on citizenship who know what signs to look for and can call the police etc earlier than disaster time, is free, allows us to feel helpful and preventative.
  14. Define hotspot. Live events already have a heavy police presence. As do airports and train stations...and city centres. This thread is playing on the feeling of uselessness and not knowing that these atrocities create. TT wants to play a part to help the country which is admirable. The problem is the attacks can happen at any location at any time, which relates to part of codels argument. As someone said, becoming a CSO would impact your local area and help the uniformed presence figure increase. You'd also have direct contact to the nearest bobby which would decrease the already impressive response time. Dans point wasn't to ignore terrorists and focus on local crime, but if you want to help there are already avenues you can go down. You can become a part time CSO
  15. You're debating semantics. In fairness to codel, possible was my word, if i had said feasible...
  16. I had a couple of mk1 Golfs on carbs. Great little car when it ran. The amount of time spent resetting points, condensors, and timing up with a strobe twisting the dissy cap was awful. Every now and again I think ill get another. Then I take myself off for a quiet word with myself and forget it. Traditionally Classic referred to anything tax exempt. Insurers will say anything to get a sale so there opinion doesn't count. For me classic is anything my parents had when i was under 10, which i get is quite subjective.
  17. Well that went well...sorry
  18. He understands, he disagrees with the usefulness and possibility.
  19. You can still specialise as a CSO. I know someone desperate to join the force, but couldn't get in, so became a CSO. Once a CSO he did all the training including his firearms training, once he had that he got a job as an armed guard at a nuclear facility somewhere, still CSOing in his spare time, evenings and weekends on the streets. When off duty he still had the skills as they're not attacthed to the uniform. He then get into the force in Northampton. Moral is, if you want to be a policeman, go to Northampton...no wait...
  20. Mine creaks a little when cold and doing manoeuvres, but it doesn't slip vibrate or shudder, and the gear changes are smooth.
  21. Which is why say the population as a whole needs educating. I don't mean combat, but eyes and ears. A bit like neighbourhood watch but less curtain twitchy.
