  1. Fresh from a quick clean just before seeing some fireworks
  2. to the forum. I'm 23, got 3 years ncb and insured with Admiral at the start of the year for £850. I wouldn't get too hung up on mileage as I'm sure a lot of the guys on here will agree, a well maintained and cared for Z with higher mileage is a far better choice than one with low mileage that's been neglected. In terms of engines you're right there are some late registered 2007 cars that have the DE engine but it's easy to tell by whether they have a single or dual intake. If you have a search on here you'll see there's a lot of debate about DE vs HR engines although I think there's more choice of mods with the DE. Good luck with the hunt, look forward to reading your build thread
  3. Yeah same thing, like I said that should give you an indication whether or not the procedure worked. I'm not sure whether it is possible to damage the throttle body by moving it manually (some of the other guys on here probably know a lot more) but yeah I moved mine all the way when I cleaned it out and it's still absolutely fine.
  4. Malfunction Indicator Light https://h-dev.co.uk/350z-reset-proceedure-pedal-dance/?v=79cba1185463 If you follow all the processes on that link when you get to the last one which is the most complicated you'll be able to tell if you've done it correctly because the MIL will flash then illuminate solid.
  5. I completely moved the butterfly valve when I cleaned my throttlebody and it was fine after doing the reset procedures. Took me quite a few attempts because you have to be very precise with all the timings but you should be able to tell if you've done it correctly by looking at the MIL.
  6. Pm'd too. Dibs if it's not already sold.
  7. Stunning looking Z you've got there mate The LMGT4s have got to be the best looking wheels for the 350 imo, but I guess I am biased I've got them nismo nuts on mine, they were a bit pricey but look ace
  8. Saw a few Z's going round but must have missed yours! Didn't have mine with me but did have a go in one of the rental swifts, wasn't exactly a rocketship but still great fun
  9. I'm driving over there with work on the 4th for a week so might see you around
  10. Had the fronts on for a few hundred miles now and haven't had the traction control kick in once since For anyone else that has this problem in the future, tyres are definitely worth checking first!
  11. Not sure if this is any help but I recently had a similar problem (the weld on the back box flange had completely rotted through) and someone on here pointed me in the direction of this-http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321860054433 Completely solved the problem for a very small price
  12. Just want to give Jez and the guys a big thanks for getting my car sorted with the major service, Uprev and (unexpected) compression arm bushes today! The car feels a lot smoother and livelier now plus it's good peace of mind to know everything serviceable has been changed Friendly staff, great service, fair prices, can't ask for more than that
  13. I've now got a full set from euro car parts which were a little more expensive but more importantly they're completely fine, so there's definitely something dodgy about the eBay ones! Luckily the seller has agreed to have them collected and give me a refund.
  14. I've fitted loads of discs and they've always have a clean, smooth finish on the contact surface. Like I said I'm pretty sure they've been sprayed silver (God knows why) that's what's given them that finish and that's why there's silver flakes in the black bits. Seems very dodgy to me and hopefully eBay will agree and make the seller pay postage so I can return them! Serves me right I guess, should've gone with euro car parts that were only slightly more expensive rather than a seller I'd never heard of.
  15. So I decided to go with standard brembos in the end which I ordered off eBay and received today. Not sure if I'm just being paranoid but they seem a little off to me.. The disc faces aren't particularly smooth, have marks on, and it's almost like the whole disc has been sprayed with a silver rattle can or something because there's what looks like overspray on the non contact bits that are supposed to be black. Ive only had a few years working as a mechanic but I can safely say I've never seen any new discs look like that, anyone else got any thoughts??
  16. Wow, can't believe the traction control is that sensitive My rears are pretty much new too so probably worth ordering a couple of fronts and hopefully it'll be that simple! I'll report back once I've got them fitted. Thanks for the help.
  17. Thanks, the tyres are 245/35/19 on the front and 275/35/19 on the rear with LMGT4 wheels? The fronts are Falkens and the rears are eagle F1's which I know isn't ideal, I plan on swapping the fronts to eagle F1's too when they need doing.
  18. Hi guys Hoping someone on here can help me identify the cause of a slight issue I'm having.. Basically every now and again the car's traction control cuts in when cornering around 60mph. It happens even when I'm taking it really easy, my first thought was maybe the front tyres are no good because they're fairly low and quite old but it only happens on a right hand bend so now I'm thinking maybe it's a faulty wheel speed sensor? Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks.
  19. I'm 23 too with 3 years no claims and I paid £850 with Admiral back in March. My car's a 2006 DE rev-up with nismo wheels & body kit which I'm guessing puts it up a bit.
  20. I know what you mean and neither do I seeing as I want the engine to last But could quite easily be in a situation where the car is hot but the brakes are cold? e.g. Say you're cruising down the motorway and it's not very busy so you don't touch the brakes for ages.
  21. Sorry I just meant is there a massive difference in performance once they're up to optimum temperature? Or are they nearly as good when you first jump in the car and they're cold?
  22. Thanks again for the replies, good to get a feel of everyone's experiences Glad to hear you guys haven't had any problems with MTEC but there seems to be a lot of people out there that have (more so than DBA or Stoptech anyway) so I think I'll steer clear. I'd rather pay a bit extra and not risk it! On another note, can anyone on here that's running ceramic pads (such as the Hawks) tell me if they're dramatically better when they're hot? I'm really tempted to give them a try seeing as they supposedly make less dust, wear the discs less & are quiet, the only thing that worries me a bit is there seems to be a lot of contradicting reviews about how effective they are when cold. Even if they're as good as oem cold, if they're way way better hot then knowing me I'll go into a corner one day relying on how good my brakes are, forget they're cold and end up in a hedge or something..
  23. Hadn't heard of RTS before but can see Tarmac sell them, they look good and seem to get decent reviews! What pads are you running? Thanks for the info, I'm kinda put off MTEC after reading a lot of reviews of them failing under high stress which I'm guessing is because they're cheaper. What sort of driving do you use the car for?
  24. Thanks for the input, any particular reason you'd recommend the DBA's? Cheers, have you tried many other pads? And is it the Hawk HPS you're using? Thanks Adrian, I read that review and sounds like the OP really likes them! Are the prices on your site with the 10% discount for the discs? And would you recommend the hawk or Stoptech pads to go with them?
  25. Hi everyone Sorry to post another thread on this sort of topic but I need new discs and pads all round and despite researching it a lot, I can't make my mind up! I'm open to suggestions but basically the options I've narrowed it down to are- - Standard oem brembo discs/pads: £300 - MTEC dimpled & slotted discs with brembo pads: £300 - DBA T2 discs with hawk HPS pads: £600 - Stoptech discs/pads: £700 I use the car as my daily and never track it so I'm hoping for something that is at least as good as the standard brembos (hot and cold), won't squeel and that will last as long/longer before they wear out? The car has standard brakes at the moment which I'm pretty happy with so I'm not sure whether to just stick with them? Equally I don't mind spending a bit of extra money upgrading them because in the back of my head I keep thinking they could make the difference between a close call and a bad situation one day... Any advise would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
