  1. Doubt it. And no we (or at least I) do not. Speed cameras are stupid because most of the speed limits are practically arbitrary. An actual safe limit should be determined by car, driver and conditions (but that's not feasible to enforce). Plus most cameras are on straight stretches, which admittedly is the most likely place someone would break the limit, but it's also the least dangerous place for someone to be speeding. It's far more important people slow down for corners, so if you're going to put a camera anywhere, put it there. A system that penalises for tailgating - now that would be a good thing.
  2. Bollocks. All it is is a gps + accelerometer with a sim card, they already cost bugger all to make. Could achieve the same function with a £5 phone. There is no chance they would ever use it to fine people on the spot as there would be a public uproar. What it can be used for is to prove innocence / guilt in case of an accident, similar to a dashcam - which you seem to support. In fact, if anything dash cams are the product getting cheaper and has a much greater chance of becoming a legal requirement with the negatives you are paranoid about.
  3. Not saying you have to or should get a black box, but you shouldn't discredit it purely due to your own ignorance. Though at the end of the day, it's your money, if you want to waste it, go ahead.
  4. I know that is (or used to be) true with others, including having to pay extra if you drove after 11pm etc, but that's not the case with Admiral. -The price you pay is what you pay, it won't change unless you go over the mileage limit significantly. -The blackbox is free and they install it for you. -There will be no change to your premium during the year (unless you go for plug-and-drive, at which point it can go down after 3 months, but only down, not up). -They won't void your insurance or penalise you for going over the speed limit. -There are only negative repercussions if you are in the bottom (5?) percent of drivers, at which point they give you a month to stop being such a shite driver.
  5. Sounds good but the other car isn't up for renewal until June, will look into it though, thanks for the tip As I said, that'd be fine, you can still get the discount. If you go with Admiral, they will probably offer you multi-cover and will explain how it works. Also, don't prejudge a black box, read up on them first before you disregard it as an option. Unless you are a bad driver, intending to lie about your annual mileage, or are particularly against having a tracker in your car*, then there is no real downside (plus they can track your car if it gets stolen). *They might offer you plug-and-drive instead of the normal black box which doesn't have a tracker and you only keep it for 3 months, after that you are free to do as you please.
  6. It's a trading name of Adrian Flux, yeah. (Bell is part of Admiral too)
  7. Unless you wanna spend £4k on just insurance...
  8. I'd go with Admiral, they aren't great, but gonna be the cheapest. Should come down £300+ if you opt for multi-cover too (other car doesn't have to come onto the policy immediately, but you get the discount straight away.) (Other car doesn't have to belong to someone in same household either, any direct family member is fine IIRC.)
  9. Know anyone with a iPhone that can test it?
  10. Do the WiFi ones work with both iOS and Android?
  11. Yes, I love it when other people stress my LSD and then redline my car in neutral
  12. Ah, my bad. Know if the US has 2 reservoirs on all models too?
  13. The suggested things to replace seems to match the list of faults. Try this for the click though if you think it sounds similar. Plugs are done every 54k miles or 5 years, so hopefully those were done 2 years ago? If not done "recently", put them on your list. Really though, "the basics" is all you need unless something goes wrong. This helps to keep on top of it (with a useful spreadsheet on page 4).
  14. Wonder what he thinks of my recent Halfords experience....
  15. Oh cool, can see why that might not be legal. Guessing it doesn't prevent normal cameras though, just the mobile gun units?
  16. Can sorta see them without taking the bumper off. All Z33's with headlight washers have 2 tanks (so only pre-facelift DEs and JDM have 1). It's dark now, so I'll check on it tomorrow, but I'm assuming that yes, it's not going across into the 2nd tank - whether this is due to an air bubble, blockage, or something else, I don't know. The 2nd tank (the one that is filled indirectly via the first tank) was the first to drain, and then most of the first tank followed, so I don't think there is a blockage or the first tank wouldn't have drained through.
  17. Thought snoopers were legal in the UK, only banned in the US
  18. Don't think so, I only touched the headlight washer connectors. I'm only trying to put back what I took out, so I know it should fit.
  19. Eyelids are a controversial mod I reckon the Z can pull them off as long as the colour matches the rest of the car (or at least the bonnet) so they don't look out of place. Looks decent from the right angle, but other times they look silly.
  20. I guess a wrap won't do it then...? Might be worth PMing some of the traders. Good luck
  21. Apparently it's a 10 litre (17 pint) system. Nothing longer than the bottle cap itself....
