  1. So I was happily "dipping" my car with Rust-Oleum Peel Coat. Door handles and side + rear emblems came out great, but when i tried to peel the excess off my front bumper (emblem and reflectors)... Well, look... - Caused bubbling / cracks in the paint in some spots. - Peeling off the dip sometimes brings the paint with it. - Where it hasn't pulled off my paint, there's a leftover residue, but removing that takes the paint with it So I guess there's 3 questions. 1) Why? Is it cos the front bumper is plastic rather than steel / aly? Or has someone just done a shite paint job and now I'm dealing with the consequences? 2) How screwed am I? Is it a case of sanding everything down and repainting it from scratch? 3) Is it my fault or can I point the finger at someone else? (Manufacturer? Supplier?)
  2. Oooh So how did Dan, Sarnie and Martin avoid the bug? And does that mean GM actually has the highest posts / day?
  3. Pfft, 25k isn't that high. M13KYF has more and he's been around 4.5 years less. Then Chris, Stew, rt, SMD, glrnet and GM almost have as many while again being around for 4.5+ years less. Scrolling through that list a lot of people joined on 20th / 21st June 2012... What happened???
  4. Is it annoying you not knowing? Maybe that was the plan all along and the part about posts was just a red herring...
  5. Recently did the Bose line-in mod. It all sounds great, but (with the engine running) if I try charge my phone (12V socket -> USB port adapter -> phone charge cable) whilst it's connected to the aux it get some noise / static / interference. It's not particularly bad, but just about noticeable enough to want to do something about it. Presumably you all have / had the same issue? Anyone got a fix? Is there a filter or a special adaptor or something I can get? Cheers
  6. Spent 10 mins outside just staring at it and I think this is what I'm gonna do. Makes it much easier to mask off and means nothing should look out of place or randomly stuck on. Only question is whether to remove the black grill bits first or or try spray with them still attached...
  7. Meant to get some pics with it outside in daylight, but it's tucked up in the garage while I do more spraying now.
  8. It's worked in pretty well, so you can't really see any silver with it closed. You can see it when you open the handle, but that doesn't really bother me since nobody will see that 99% of the time. I could have done it properly and either lifted the handle to spray inside or removed them and propped them open (there's a special trick), but I'm pretty happy with how it looks as is. Opinions appreciated either way.
  9. Was about to dip my front bumper lip below the grill, but now I'm not sure which bits to do... This is my front bumper. My initial plan was to do the bit marked in blue (below). But now I'm thinking I should do the bit in green too, but there isn't an easy edge to work with there... Or I could do the purple bit... Though I don't think I can do the purple bit without doing the red... Or should I just do all of them?... Thoughts? Anyone done similar?
  10. Most of it, will get some pics up in a bit, Doing the other side and front now (handle, emblem, reflectors).
  11. Did you complain about this? Big company that is scared of bad press. Although each branch is treated as individual, its still the halfords banner. Id say bring it to mine next time and ill look after it, but Burton is a trek from Wakefield I wasn't gonna, but they kept pestering me by email asking me to fill out a survey and rate my experience. I eventually caved in and filled it out (negatively). The system detected this and said a rep would contact me regarding the issues, but that never happened
  12. Was the missus in the car at the time?
  13. Just ask them to leave it on next time. See if they will comply. When I took my car to Halfords I checked my dashcam footage after. They had left it on, and it showed them being useless and abusing my car.
  14. Was just checking if there was anything that might catch me out. Sorted it Monday afternoon. Was a bit of a ballache, but is looking as it should once again.
  15. F-Type is an edgy Ferrari California. XK is a Aston Martin - Spyker C8 hybrid.
  16. I can never make my mind up with it. When it first came out I thought it was ugly. The front looks... wrong and the back was too stretched and weird. It's grown on me, but it doesn't even come close to being as beautiful a the Xk(r(-s)).
  17. Prefer the XK to the F-Type personally. You could get an Audi S6 (C6). Has a Lambo engine, so kinda counts
  18. Try list them in a for sale thread here
  19. Do you never accidentally buy duplicates, or do you take a checklist with you to Tesco to prevent that?
  20. You'll lose out if u trade-in - will get a lot for selling privately. Try time it perfectly so you sell the Z and buy the new car at the same time (give or take a few days). Most insurers will let you add another car to your policy temporarily to cover that sort of thing.
  21. Proposal = Marriage = Wedding = Expensive. Think of all the car parts you could spend that money on instead
