Sorry dude only just seen this post. Thats a shame, I will have to get them shipped to my relatives in West Virginia and get them to smuggle them over in their luggage when they visit next. Wow Deb 16 times in 20 months?? Not surprised you got rid

This is what I found with the EVO ones mate, only the noise would come back after only about 5 miles. I will see in a week or so time as I will be putting some big mileage on her over the next month or so. Many guys have found the Mintex Ceratec to be the best and most reliable thing at keeping the squeal at bay. I think it has something to do with heat resistant properties or something like that (cant really remember as it was a long time ago when I researched it properly.) but alot of the EVO boys swear by it. I spent about £1500 trying to get rid of the squeal using a variation of different pads/disc makes etc. Spent a fortune on Performance Friction stuff and nothing worked (I wasnt using Ceratec at this time I was using something else that was recommended) . Opted to just get a refurb then lube up with Ceratec and had no issues since. Hopefully it works on the Zed. Even if it only stops it for a month or 2 I dont mind re-lubing them at those intervals as its such an easy and quick job with Brembos.

Not really a Mod as such but Ive recently been suffering from the dreaded 'Brembo Squeal' Ive had this on the VR-4 with the EVO 8 Brembo's I put on it and for the life of me could not get the buggers to stop squealing. Ill have to dig a video out from somewhere to demonstrate just how bad it can get. Anyway the only way to combat this on the EVO 8 Brembos was to completely refurb them. Stripped the pads out of the Zed today, cleaned the outside and inside of the caliper, removing the brake dust etc from all contactable surfaces. Cleaned up the rear face and edges of the pads and then added a fresh coat of Mintex Ceratec to all surfaces that come into contact with the pistons/caliper etc. Also cleaned up the retaining clips and pins and coated them in Mintex Ceratec. Put everything back together and hey presto no more squealing I was going to install a brand new set of pads but the current ones still have thousands of miles left so left them for now. Didnt take any pics as I didnt think about it at the time.

Both the fronts and rears on my zed were 6.5" not sure why others are finding different sizes from front to rear?

We should have a 'Dislike' button

Drove the 184 miles back last night, left it to cool and have just checked the level again. Still in the same place with none missing so fingers crossed. Yeah I might end up doing a compression test this weekend while Im over at my mates unit sorting audio stuff out.

Happy days cheers for the confirmation guys Rare JDM harness cover may be up for sale soon in that case, or maybe even a straight swap

Hi guys, Just a quick question today: Does the stock 350Z DE engine cover fit back on once a plenum spacer is fitted? Reason I ask is that my Zed had a plenum spacer fitted by a previous owner but it doesnt have the stock engine cover. Instead it has the Rare JDM harness cover. IMO the engine bay looks better with the stock engine cover than the Rare JDM harness cover. But before I go and waste money on an engine cover I was wondering if the reason the cover was removed was because it doesnt fit back on when a plenum spacer is fitted. Tried a quick search but couldnt find the answer. Thanks in advance

I bought a 2.0tdi 140bhp VAG lump (Audi A4) as my sensible car.....................then I traded it in for.....................A Porsche Cayenne MPG in the VAG was 57(ish) MPG in the Porsche was........19 so it cost nearly 3 times as much to run. I then traded the Porsche for the Zed (at 28mpg) and now when people say to me it must drink a lot, I simply say nah its as economical as hell lmao.

Ive covered nearly that and Ive only had mine since beginning of August haha

Ah fair doos, looks like Ill have to source from China and wait

Unfortunately the pump connectors are different so you wont be able to connect the rear pump to the front pump wiring but you can swap the hoses over from the front to rear pump. This will mean that to wash the front screen you will now need to actually activate the rear. If that makes sense?

Only issue I can foresee is when the handbrake is off during normal driving, where is going to be positioned? Normally the lever sits in a little recess in the centre console. With the Katana on the end being significantly longer I dont see how the handbrake would then be fully off. Unless you adjust the angle of it so it sits higher when its on and doesnt reach the centre console when off but then I can foresee the other issue of the placement being pretty much behind the gearstick when its in 1st or 2nd gear. The extended length may then be in the way of the gearstick.

I can do this for you mate, I have made a custom parcel shelf that hides the contents of the boot. Previous to making this I had twin amps in the boot mounted on a piece of wood sat at the same kind of angle as that. The shape and size are the same whether youve got it at an angle or flat. See my post in the What Mods Today thread. Post 1300 I think it is. Ive gone for a piece of hardboard that sits vertically behind the rear speakers. I screwed some small wooden brackets on there and then the flat horizontal panel then sits on top and gets screwed down in the middle to stop it from dislodging during driving. If you just wanted that bit to sit at an angle like with the setup above then as I say the shape and dimensions are the same. PM me if you want me to send you some measurements. Or I may even have enough hardboard left over to make one for you. Apologies for the thread hijack. GLWTS.

The front wing damage looks very similar to some rear wing damage I had on my Audi A4 just before Christmas. This cost £350+vat to get sorted and was done in 2 days. We opted to go outside insurance as it was conveniently a neighbour that hit me so I knew exactly where he lived so he couldnt get away from me or give me false details. Got a 3 quotes and presented them to him and we went from there. The job was a fantastic one and you cant even tell there was any panel distortion or dents etc at all and it looks as good as new. The company also gave the enitre car a wash and wax outisde and full valet inside complimentary. The worrying thing was that I went to a local well documented insurance approved garage and for the same repair they quoted me £1400............PLUS VAT!!! I personally think that the insurance approved garages get away with charging more because the insurance company are paying for it so they think its ok but you still have to pay the excess. I think this is why so many cars are being written off these days. But hey thats just my view. Going private I would expect to pay around £700 for that (obviously as you say the damage varies from the photo to real life so could be more) I would however expect the insurance to claim that it would be costing closer to £1,500-£2,000.

You can change all the lights through the wheel arch. All I have done is jack the car up until the wheel is off the floor to give me room. Ideally you could remove the wheel to give you a little more space to position your arms etc and make it more easily accessible. The only bulb I have found that you cannot change via the wheel arch is the indicator bulb but this is only if you are uprating to LED bulb. This is because they are slightly longer than the regular filament bulb and with the bulb in the holder there is not enough space to maneuver it into the hole. I had to remove the front bumper and loosen the headlight mounting bolts to allow me to move the headlight unit forward to gain enough space.

Right just checked the oil after she has been sitting overnight and the level is exactly the same as when I set off 184 miles before. So it seems at least I dont have catastrophic leak. Obviously Ill keep an eye on it and check it regularly. It was hardly driven much between the oil change and me collecting it so maybe it didnt represent a true reading twinned with the fact I have done so many miles in it without checking aswell hopefully its just a case of it was getting lower without my knowledge and nothing is damaged. If there wnds up being bottom end damage etc due to starvation then I only have my stupid self to blame. Anyway for now all looks good just have to keep an eye on it after a complete oil and filter change next week. Again many thanks for help and advice etc I have now found that if you whip the dipstick out quickly then it comes straight out without getting caught. The downside to this is flecks of oil end up all over you. Few more readings and Im sure I will have it down to a tee

Is that a personalised reg? How much did it set you back? Lmao. Great placement though

Happy days mate sounds like its going on my list then. Where did you get them from out of interest? I looked on ebay but can only find sets outside of the UK and delivery is expected 22nd Nov. Im in no rush and they are only £20 but if there are UK sellers Ill use them. Also how do you reset the auto settings?

Hey guys, 1 thing that bugs me about the Zed is the lack of automatic window switch for the passenger window from the drivers side switch. The drivers switch is automatic so pulling it '2 clicks' and releasing allows the window to wind up without having to keep the switch held in the right position. With the passenger switch next to it you need to keep the switch held in either direction to fully open/close the window. Yes yes I know this is a very minor problem but just something that bugs me. The JDM switch has both the driver and the passenger automatic switches so should just be plug and play. The question is has anyone fitted the JDM window switch into their UK Zed and did it work as expected? If not then I may just be the guinea pig and let people know how it goes incase anyone is as bothered by the little things as I am.
