  1. Are you planning on making it road-legal?
  2. You can get "guaranteed value" policies... might be worth looking in to. The big con with most insurance policies is, if you're written off, you get what you could've sold it for to a trader... which is bugger all use when you now need to BUY a replacement!
  3. As far as I am aware, should your car be written off, the company will pay out the book price... that "Estimated Value" when you get an insurance quote means nothing when it comes to a claim. Know a few people who have been caught out like that. Obviously each insurance company is different, so best bet is to give them a ring (or try deciphering the intelligible garbage in the policy booklet!)
  4. Generally, look for tyres that are XL rated, as they tend to have much straighter sidewalls (as they're beefed up to cope with extra load). Your pirellis are not XL rated.
  5. Looking good... that green is very GREEN !!!
  6. That said, if you just plug it together using the loom it will be very quiet... have you turned the volume up? You also need to ensure the blue wires are spliced together so that the Bose amp gets told to switch on. The guid in the ICE section on this forum is spot-on!
  7. I've just fitted a Pioneer HU to the Bose amps, no problem. Did you get a converter loom? I bought one from InCarTec... was simply plug and play!
  8. Hang on... Milton Keynes has a "theatre district"... seriously?!?!
  9. Were you insured when you hit the sign? If so, you've paid your excess any other expenses are down to your insurer.
  10. As I understand it, we currently benefit greatly from the fact our Trade Agreements are negotiated by the EU... that is to say, we don't trade with USA as UK, we trade with USA as EU. So a scenario outlined to me, is that in this country we have many high-skilled, high paid, high technology jobs, providing products for export, that other nations are jealous of (think our F1 industries, banking/finance industries, Rolls Royce). Countries (e.g. USA, China) would love to make our services/products uncompetitive, by applying punitive charges/rates... but they cant because they need good terms with the EU due to the huge purchasing power the EU has. With us outside the EU and having to negotiate for ourselves, suddenly we don't have anywhere near the purchasing power... as coldel says, "we need them more than they need us". So, in order to drive on their own version of these highly-desirable jobs, they make our products/services less competitive because they can. So we lose some of our most highly-paid industries and jobs.
  11. I'm far from decided right now, but loving the cut-and-thrust of discussion on this thread. Have done a small amount of research so far and the recurring theme is the "outies" citing EU costs us x millions here, y millions there... whilst the "inies" are citing x BILLIONS of benefit here, y BILLIONS of trade opportunities there. Far from convincing arguments either way but I do worry your average Sun reader can't comprehend that "millions" is peanuts in this context.
  12. It's never easy searching for your ideal car. As you're in the Bristol area, I would suggest talking to Mark at Evo Motors: http://www.evo-motors.co.uk/ His number is 07967 416063 He really knows his Zeds, and usually has a few in stock. Although I didn't end up buying mine from him, we had a nice long chat and he happily gave me a load of useful advice. He also said he would happily take my requirements and source one for me if I wanted.
  13. Well I never... most cars have some form of breather to allow the pressure in the tank to equalize... with it forming a vacuum, can't be good for fuel delivery?!? Any-hoo... learn something new everyday! Cheers all.
  14. I've had my Z 2 months today... brimmed it when I bought it and embarrassingly, today was the first fill-up since. When I opened the filler cap, there was a prolonged whoosh of air... couple of seconds... couldn't quite determine if it was air escaping or air entering, but my feeling is it was air entering. I'm guessing that's not normal. Guessing a return hose, or some form of breather is blocked. Can anyone point me in the direction of what I should be looking at?
  15. This thread explains I think: http://www.350z-uk.c...lacing-oe-bose/ I found this thread very useful too: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/55445-wiring-in-a-new-hu-this-guide-may-help/
  16. I've just done the same... happy to share what I've learnt (assuming I'm correct, of course ) Unless you're up for a lot of re-wiring, your new headunit won't be powering the speakers directly. Instead, you will be feeding the OE Bose amplifiers. This is where it gets annoying. The OE Bose system is a bit odd... it's clearly designed as an end-to-end sealed system (headunit -> amps -> speakers) and not designed to have one of those links replaced independently. The amps expect "line in" levels much higher than usual... so connecting your headunit's "line outs" to the Bose "line ins" results in a very quiet system. In essence, you end up having to connect your headunits "speaker outs" to the Bose "line ins"... sounds odd, but it works.
  17. Not totally sorted, but have done the throttle reset and it's improved. When weather improves I'm going to clean maf and throttle body/butterfly and see where that leaves me.
  18. Ooh, ouch! Got one of those number plate light cameras waiting for a dry day to be installed... apart from not frying your car's electrics, got any other hard-earned tips?
  19. Love the Bilt Hamber wheel stuff... especially like how, once it's reacted and you then rinse it off, it looks like there's been a ritual sacrifice on your driveway!
  20. +1 +2 If you're modifying to please others, you're doing it wrong! My fireblade looks a bit like Batman and Bobby George got together to build a bike for the Tron film... apart from me, the only other people who like it are generally under the age of 12 (physically or mentally)... but that suits me perfectly!
