  1. Afternoon! I've got a couple of loose bits of trim which need to be sorted. Firstly the 12v socket cover seems to flap around. Is it possible to get a replacement cover? Would prefer not to have to silicone it in place... Secondly the centre ashtray is also very flappy, looks as though some lugs are broken off so the lid flaps around. Anyone knwo where I can get a replacement (or anyone got one for sale..) And finally, how hard is it to change the steering wheel? I have a Momo Commando one on at the moment but probably going to go back to standard. cheers!
  2. as above sounds a bit pricey to me considering the condition. cars like these need looking after properly, if you let it get in that state i'd suggest it probably hasn't had the best care with servicing, use etc etc
  3. the problem I'd have with that would be getting the car there to drop it off, don;t think the gf would be keen on doing a 170 mile round trip to drop it off and then same again to collect!
  4. Could anyone recommend a decent independent garage for me near Guildford? Haven't been massively impressed with my usual guy the past two times I've used him and that's for my 3 series so no chance the Z will be going there. Nissan is obviously out of the question. I was impressed with SE Autoworks, vw guys, but pi**ed me off when dropped a Seat Ibiza to them to have 3 overly long bolts cut off and one of them told me it'd be the full hours labour as it was low and hard to get into the garage to use grinder, asked why not do it with hacksaw 'oh not enough room, take ages blah blah', left it, set off 2 mins up the road decided £45+vat was stupid and that I'd buy a hacksaw and do it myself, by the time I got back to them the cheeky sh!t had already done it (literally 3 mins) outside, with a hacksaw. so that's them out! any recommendations would be appreciated. likely to be taking the gf's car as well as my beemer too. Haslemere > Guildford is my usual work route so anywhere round those areas. cheers!
  5. can't work out what that pic is... exhaust broken? Just means you have to buy a catback now...
  6. sorry, missed this! Not sure yet, probably a lip spoiler type one. Nothing too big, don;t want to ruin those lovely lines at the back! maybe something like this, possibly in carbon to keep with the front splitter, canards and bonnet
  7. I was driving a 996 a couple of weekends ago, feels so much lighter than the Z, driving position is very much on top of the front wheels, it's somehow sharper. interior is simple, clean, well made and how it should be in a 911 IMO, you're not buying a GT car you're buying a rear engined sports car, that's where I think they've started going wrong with the newer models, losing what made the 911's great in the first place. love my Z but the 911 is in a different league
  8. it's officially tan ... do you need glasses ? looks like brown to me....
  9. Specify? Easy one, Invidia Gemini, best within your budget. I've got the Invidia Gemini, sounds amazing Post a video?! Or come along to the meet that I'm being roped into organising! Still 300 miles from my car! Whens the meet, would definitely come along once mines on the road

  12. do it yourself, simple enough to do parts aren't expensive and the last thing you want to be doing is putting second hand discs and pads on or take it to a decent non-dealer garage, provide your own parts and stump up for an hour or two labour!
  13. mine idles high as well for the first few minutes and then settles down. guess it's similar situation to having a choke on an old car?
  14. christ. it really has got a bit of everything hasn't it. It was a difficult decision but I've picked my favourite worst part, it's not the induction, nor the horrific engine bay, not even the dash.... it's the Nurburgring decals on the headrests
  15. thanks guys! still needs a few bits doing to it so expecting to get it on the road in the new year. very hard having it sat parked up (after a single day of being able to drive it...) and driving around in a 320d forgot to get any photos of the interior but it's half red leather half cloth. was this an option on the JDM ones? Haven't seen it anywhere else
  16. Picked her up on Fri night, good clean on Saturday, yet to be polished but as it will be parked up for a while I thought I'd get some photos outside! Has a GReddy strut brace, GReddy induction kit/air filter, Invidia Gemini catback, a few carbon bits, brembos with some lovely drilled/grooved discs, different bumper (Nismo?) and a rather sizable spoiler so far I have removed the spoiler, and the blue legs of the strut brace are now black to match the other bits (just that hose to get rid of all the blue...). Tempted to polish the plenum, get an aluminium undertray, Tein springs will be going on it and possibly changing the alloys, need to think about that one (££££)

    SLIP light

oh and full beam seems to the relay. if I take it out and replace it they'll work for a bit and then stop. new relay needed i think!

    SLIP light

checked tyre sizes and they were as I initially put. profile being 40 on the front and 35 on the back. can't imagine the mismatched suspension helps either... It did crunch once going into 6th but not again so assumed I'd just been sloppy with the shifting. If I think about what I'm doing it doesn't do it, just on quick shifts! And unfortunately no SLIP light appeared when I was test driving. Going to level the car out on matching springs and then go from there. It seems when it kicks in I can come off everything and it takes a couple of seconds to sort itself out, if I get straight back on the pedal it flashes up again - the simple answer to this is turn the TCS off....
  19. do all correspondence recorded. gf had the same thing with a mazda , 110k miles, engine was shot, lasted about 6 weeks (not mazda dealer) took a while but got full cost of car back plus all expenses. just be persistant! PM me if you want more info - you don't have to prove it was broken when you bought it, the dealer has to prove it wasn't. as above SOGA is your friend!

    SLIP light

I imagine the alignment is miles out, it's been lowered at the rear but not the front (soon to be squared up on Teins) so will get it checked, also just had a new set of rubber so can't see any wear. tyre sizes (offthe top of my head) 235/40/19 front, 275/35/19 rears thanks! oh switch is the one next to petrol cap switch. possibly fog light...? assuming fog light bulb is gone

    SLIP light

So picked the Z up last night, drives fin eminus a couple of things... sight crunch if I do a quick shift into 6th, no full beam (wtf! new bulbs I hope) and the SLIP light happened on a roundabout, SLIP light flashing on, when I pressed the throttle it just made it worse. didn't seem to be losing traction. did it later on fairly straight road too, no other lights on, just SLIP flashing for maybe 5 seconds with killed throttle response, if I knocked it into neutral for a couple of seconds then went again it would be fine. obviously goes away with TCS off. any ideas?! also...switch next to the petrol release cap, what is it?! thanks!

    what are these?!

Impressive wheel knowledge StevoD! Never heard of them! decent wheels or cheaper reps of something else?
  23. Tom-89

    what are these?!

cheers guys! And if anyone knows what the ones I currently have on are that would be lovely... the centre caps say Mania on them but can't find anything similar googling
  24. Tom-89

    what are these?!

not helpful but also not wrong... and if anyone has any idea what mine are (other than black/silver) that would also be helpful!
  25. Tom-89
