370z windscreen washer level warning when tank is full
coyoteboy replied to mike89's topic in 370z Technical
Probably works on a float system which has jammed. A bit of driving about may free it, based on experience with other cars. -
Fwiw spacers in the rear only will give you a greater tendency to understeer.

Nice to have such a friendly welcome, ta! Good to see this forum has a friendly vibe and no attitude, hopefully I can contribute! Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

Both semi-valid points based on my limited knowledge of the setup. No sub belt will mean you are likely to slip under it, that said it's identical to a normal seatbelt and the seats are not single-seater style lying-down angles, so no more likely than with a normal seatbelt. Second point means your spine will be compressed in an impact if the belt angle is significantly greater than 10 degrees from horizontal when you're strapped in. You probably don't want that. These are points that are adjusted to suit the driver on a purpose built car with harnesses, which folk forget when lightly modding their car with style in mind rather than safety. What is the bar you're attaching the shoulder harness to? Normally it would be part of the cage which would be purpose-built to the height required by the occupants.

Been about a bit now, figure it's time to say hello! (I always like to come in under the radar!) Bought a CatD, relatively high mileage (spotless repair as far as I can see, not showing any signs of age -at all-) 370 GT in the best colour (Black, of course!) a month or so ago. Been getting to grips with it, it's a very different beast to my other cars ('91 Celica GT4 since 2004 - somewhat modified - looking to get more modified when I finish rebuilding the engine after popping a piston at 19psi) and a Diesel peugeot 306 estate (used when I can't guarantee a decent parking space or need to take garden waste full of spiders to the tip). I had been rattling too and fro between keeping the GT4 and the pug as my two cars but after the GT4 died the peugeot immediately started having a fit and I thought I deserved a treat. Tried a few 350s, loved them but couldn't find one that wasn't damaged/dented/rattly/knackered in some way. Had just about given up (as I wasn't willing to push my budget to get a 2007/8 350) when for a little bit more the 370 came up. Well it was way above my planned budget but I drove it and couldn't help myself. It's not as fast/nimble as the Celica but it's a lot more comfy, pleasant to do a 400 mile trip to visit family, and a lot of fun. And very shiny. People keep mentioning there's a lot of zeds in the Glasgow area, well I've seen two. A blue (lowered?) one on the kelvin bridge a couple of weeks ago and a white one up in Bearsden couple of times. Anyways, I'm just north of Glasgow - won't be going nuts on modifications on this car (I still spend too much cash on the Celica) but I'll be sticking about here as the help here has been great so far. Hi!

Standing straight? Camber or toe? My 'stock' rear camber is huge neg (inner edge gets toasty after 10 miles or so while the outer remains cold). Too much camber up front will cause poor braking and rut following? Looking at same question so following this with interest.
-
Looking for back box and maybe mids but mainly the back, and cheap as possible with undamaged tips. My plan is to cannibalise them while keeping my own stock ones in case my mod doesn't work! Anyone near Glasgow? (Can't see locations in Tapatalk!) And only one person has a price in there (PS I think the thread is fair game given the lack of initial responses! )
-
Would you split it?
-
No I didn't think it was really, my point was just that you can get the same performance from them without trying and they offer other benefits. If they never told you the engine capacity you might never know when it's well tuned.

Wayyyy too raspy for my taste, I prefer the deep rumble myself. I'd like the OEM exhaust only about double the amplitude!
-
Regarding hair dryer sized engines, my 2ltr turbo puts out more torque and power than my 370 from about 3000rpm. And it's lighter.
-
Just how loud are these with an otherwise stock exhaust system? It's hard to tell via video on a cheap laptop speaker. I'm used to loud exhausts (my Celica GT4 runs a 3" system turbo-back with only the back box) but I'm really not looking for that sort of volume (I've still got that if I want to drive for hours with a headache!) - I'd like a system that just enhances what's there a little more, rather than basts the neighbourhood and sounds like the lad over the road with a fiesta with no exhaust!

For those who end up in the same situation, I bought two solutions. One is a pad and the other is a glue kit (sensor tac 1). Was going to try the glue when the silicone pad failed but so far it has been perfect but it needed a light spray with halfords silicone lube first. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=121223949972&alt=web

Rag tops are generally heavier due to the additional stiffening needed due to the lack of structure. Apart from the fact that I think all the 350/70 rag top lineup look like boats from the rear/side, who would want to reduce the capability and increase complexity on this kind of car?
-
I'd quite like to take one and felt line it, think that would allow better breathing and trap dust before the surface. Of course it would hold moisture more. Best off in a garage i guess!
-
Yeah it's not blown in on mine, it's roof/bonnet in pools. Will grab photos, and it fits the car snugly so I don't need to use straps (but do anyway). I took the same view as you, it's 50 quid and better than bird poo and sunlight.

Ahh my old pug 205, 145 tyres would drive out of any where leaving all the high powered cars stranded in winter. Loved it!
-
Somewhere, somehow I imagine a Z posting to an internet forum complaining about its owner humiliating it

I've found my halfords one lets damp penetrate and traps grit that wasn't there when it was put away (permeates through maybe or blows up?). Washed and waxed my Celica and packed it up in a new halfords cover and checked it 3 months later, tide marks where water has sat trapped and gritty stuff at the tide mark edge?

Nothing on earth would make me buy a new car, certainly not within the first 3 years, the depreciation is so vast you either have to be willing to burn cash for no reason or have someone else paying for it! There are so many minty mint 370s about it makes little sense?
-
Certainly not the first time I've heard of a mechanic getting distracted and forgetting to refill, someone else finishing car and making assumptions. Trust no one and check often!
-
All modern cars terminate air con in high load situations. Even my '91 GT4 does that OK I know you were not really serious but...
-
In the same way De-Cat's and Superchargers would or are you serious? I honestly noticed the windows didn't steem as much, don't ask me why but they didn't ! Insulating layer, takes longer for the inner surface temp to drop below the saturation limit, and might never get to do so if outside temp starts to rise again. Mines getting condensation just now, leave air con on, on really wet days turn it to recirc air con to dry the internal air without dragging more wet air in.
-
Trust me, you don't. I even found out today they're 5psi under, it's worse now!
-
OK, I knew my intuition on it was right, it does work how i expected when it's held strangely against the screen. Pulled it apart and the sensor is missing it's glue as identified by kind folk at the beginning of the thread. Cheers all, bought a replacement glue kit!
