  1. I'd keep looking - Import (like mine!) always a little cheaper - (but, they'll try and smack you on the insurance because!) the budget you have (mentioned) + mileage you'll accept + import considered! - another one will come up
  2. Echo all the other sentiments, have a little one myself, just turned 4 ... would be my worst nightmare! -V happy to donate or assist in anyway we can. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. J
  3. I would have tried charging the battery myself - if I don't use mine for a couple of weeks, she'll not fire without a charge (also new owner, import/auto, with only winter experience thus far) -cold kills my battery! ..... The Immob was off right!? ... Just checking!! .. 1st thought when reading your post! As for disconnecting - considering mine was totally flat (on more than one occasion) - I know no reason why you can't off it and connect a new -> Interested, I have to say, how you'll open the windows with no power!? (and why the need?) Mine opens with the key if the keyfob doesn't ... so not sure about keeping the door open either!? I think the point mine goes, I will change it for UK battery - whereby a need to buy some UK terminals too I believe. The bonnet/hood opened, so it must close, unless something broke when you opened it!!!... again, daft question maybe- but where is the battery cover at the moment!? ... > left something on the block/catches etc. (we've all done it!) It closes like any other I've seen - check that top hinges are not loose and that it's moved position when you opened it .. I'm 100% mine has not always been on the car! - was out of align when I 1st saw her, and there are marks on the points where it's been stored / stood up.
  4. Not mine, don't trust it......... I'm an infrastructure engineer (mainly server and storage) for a financial services company I hate giving someone else responsibility for my backups, if I've done it's either done right or I'm to blame The IT world is very quickly moving to cloud for everything, of course there are certain vertices where you can't, but the migration has begun. Oh I know and we have several including one I look after..... Doesn't mean I trust someone else with my data or the responsibility of backing it up ... I could say so much :) - but screw that, it's work ... J
  5. "The cloud" can mean many things. As a consumer I'm just a little wary of trusting my backup to someone else for both privacy and recovery. I no longer have control over that data. I'm a bit of a pessimist and in some ways control freak when it comes to stuff like that Agree ... and probably the most common objection .. but in reality, you keep your data on yours and I'll keep a 2nd copy for you (simplfying of course) ... But then you have 2 sets incase some may hack your home network, which - in honesty - doesnt have a billion $ spent on security and would be V much easier for someone to access than say a data centre /cloud. Currerntly your data is kept on one or two hdd, maybe even 4 or 5 with raid .. where as in a data centre it's across several thousand /encrypted.... and of course "data" isn't that naked picture of an ex ... it's 010110100010010100101101 .... it's incredible really what they (we?) can do now ... so many implications of what's to come... (the royal "you" btw) :D .. J
  6. Specialize in Cloud "Backup and Recovery" solutions /DR /CDR for Seagate. (Data Storage) (at least 40% of you are storing your digital footprint on my kit) :)
  7. hahahaha .....I didn't actually notice, I was looking at headlights in my defense - :) .... The clear ones are the ones that caught my attention
  8. I'm liking your rear lights too (well, the whole car really!) :) Where did you source those? J
  9. Thanks Rob, they'll do nicely -> Legend. J
  10. I keep looking and looking and getting more and more confused with possible headlight purchasing .... I have an 03' import .. nearside headlight has had a crack and been repaired at some point (not very nice) the inside top part of the chrome is blemished and there appears to be cloudy marks on the "inside" of the clear lens (I've tried buffing, toothpaste etc etc) together with some paint (I guess, as it's red!) Overall ... its totally forked!!!! The off side is better, and I could live with it (for now) - but I don't want to buy a light that doesn't match exactly what I have - or, end up buying one and then the rest of my life trying to find another to match it! (there seems to be differences in looks > years?) I am aware I would need to chop the wiring about on a UK headlight to adjust to 6pin, that's OK - but, is this really my only option? ... I keep looking at new ones from the US, but aware the throw on them will be incorrect, also read that it's not possible to adjust them to throw correctly for UK use .... So, looking for suggestions ....? ... anyone ever bought OEM from Ebay et-al and got them through the MOT - and equally as important, are they any good!? - Any pointers gratefully received ... I'd like to get to start on mods - but I need to fix some basic stuff 1st ... Have searched a bit but not really finding any definitive answers .... hence help request Thanks in advance ... J
  11. Knew about the ECU - but suprised about the wiring, I would not have thought it would be massivley different - in my mind, the differences would be where the cars differ slightly - Mirrors, Washer etc etc etc - hoenstly though, I'm on a steep learning curve (as it seems you are too) Link you posted > http://www.fairladyz32.com/tech.html is signed off on the bottom of the page JDM Fairlady Z * San Diego, CA I'm thinking you're (we're) on the right path ....
  12. Good resource here - http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/350Z/coupe/ A Messy search, granted! lt.pdf covers lighting .. is the best I've found so far J
  13. Am stil searching ...finding odds and sods - http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/350Z/coupe/2003/lt.pdf
  14. I will be doing the same thing, headlights on mine are a little bit worse than having wee willy winky running in front of me!! So watching this with interest - to be honest though, I probably won't takle it myself, unless you make it look easier! - I talked it through with my Indy recently - the different pin out/plug etc and likley to be a problem!? .. he said nope, just splice and dice .. no help whatsoever I know, but it looks like it's pi55in you off! = I'd chuck it at someone else with some £ .... (I did spend some time having a google for you too) Though as you are where you are, what's the worst that could happen matching them up - Pop a fuse or two if wrong or just won't work!? ... (not meant as that might read, I'm awesome at taking things apart ONLY) As for the other two wires - self levelling for sure, isn't there wash on UK ones too? ... J

  17. took the day off today, Clear blue skies - a couple 100 miles ... ahhhhhh Sorry, had to share - I've not driven her for 6weeks or so and only had her for 12!! - Not gotten to work on her yet, she was filthy when I picked her up (like she'd lived outside, not cleaned for 2years filthy, someone threw a wash and wax over before I saw it etc) So, have spent more time cleaning and replacing some obvious worn parts (drop link, clicking axle fix etc) She's got her minor niggles, but then, that's what I wanted .... (+afford) I have a rattle in the boot area, behind driver (5o'clock)- around the rear light (maybe) - and I can't find the f*&%*£!)&$ and can't replicate it when stationary ......I hate that, I've tapped, crawled, skinned knuckles, taken everything out !!....and then ... f~it... fix it with the Stereo anyway, if anyone one has ever had something similar, and then found / fixed it ..... I'd be very interested in you coming round to ours and doing mine! Anyhow, now into Friday night with a big Zmile on my face, bloody marvelous - Cheers ~
  18. Well, I'm only over in Farnborough .... let me know next time! Glad you got it sorted
  19. should be 0.043" or 1.1mm
  20. RAC Home start .... a useful to have (although I fell out with them after I had a shunt and they wouldn't collect me -> RTA / Police involved) - they have sorted me out twice in the past 6months (one a dead battery funnily enough/Merc) Easy Start is safe, and pretty simple to use..... if she's fueling and firing but not catching, it's worth a £4.00 punt IMHO
  21. http://densoiridium.com/installationguide.php "In most cases your Iridium Power plugs do not need to be gapped. Even with small variations in the factory set gap the ultra-efficient firing power design will compensate for those small variations" (according to the US guys quoting the Manual, it should be 0.043" or 1.1mm)
  22. So, battery now fully charged? ...is turning the car over perfectly, is fueling & firing but not catching!? -> Open air box > Easy Start ... (I love that stuff) My battery died a few weeks ago, I charged her for a couple of hours and she fired straight up (4 weeks sitting) - ( now dead again ) .. if the car was fine before your trip - Battery has to be the No1 suspect IMHO
  23. Love the look of BM's - always have done, but as soon as I get inside - I feel nothing for them at all ..!! - having said that, I've not been in a 420+ hp one :) and I am sure I would get over my lack of enthusiasm for the interior look pretty quickly too - V Nice motor.
