  1. Quick questions guys, do I need to sand in between coats of paint as well? I'm practising on an old phone cover and sanded it with 600, then one coat of white primer, sanded again with one coat of paint and now drying. Do I need to sand again with 1200 or add the second coat on once dry?
  2. Yeah I'd go to look at the paint in person first and then see if I can find it cheaper online. Otherwise just pick it up off the shelf. Did you get your orange from Halfords?
  3. Mine only took 71 litres to the brim? Does the HR have a smaller capacity? your tank will always have 'some' fuel in there, unless you had it drained completely? Good point, otherwise I wouldn't have made it to the petrol station
  4. Mine only took 71 litres to the brim? Does the HR have a smaller capacity?
  5. Saw a White 350Z - LN03 driving down Fencepiece Road towards Fairlop roundabout and then took the exit onto Barkingside High Street. Seen today at around 12.30pm.
  6. Do my eyes deceive me, Will suggesting hot water?? :scare: :scare: Lol
  7. This is exactly what I've done. I've got a little 1.4TDI polo which I use for work and my runarounds and it's a refreshing change when I come to pick my Zed keys on my days off knowing I'm going to go on a nice drive where I can push the car a bit. If you can afford a cheaper car for a runaround I'd definitely recommend it
  8. I've kept my stickers on too! I like the the Orange colour as I'm planning to continue the orange theme throughout my engine bay too
  9. Yeah two weeks isn't too bad. I'll expect something by end of the month then. Still got my eyelids to fit, but the weather keeps p*ssing down everytime I want to fit them!
  10. Yes it was your original find chirag Sweet - I paid for mine today. How long did yours take to arrive?
  11. How much was this one mate? Was it one of the £6 ones that I posted up originally?
  12. I used my washers on the engine bay side (bottom end) as I used the supplied bolts so I don't have to cut the plastic on the covers. The bolt at the top on the bonnet had a washer already in place so didn't have any need to put it there. To be honest I don't think it makes any difference but I used them as they were there
  13. Too many haters out there who spend their money on drugs n sh*t and then get jealous when they see someone else driving a nice car. Really p*sses me off when I hear this stuff happening. Should I get the chance I'd put a dent in their car using their own f*cking head!!
  14. I've got a day off on Friday so will make a trip to halfords to check out the different shades. Hopefully my primer and lacquer will have come by then so will be able to have some practice
  15. I've just bought the hycote white plastic primer and the hycote clear lacquer from eBay for roughly fiver each. Now just gotta find a shade of orange!
  16. Coolio, looks like I've found something else to spend my money on now and it won't be breaking the bank either
  17. Thanks for the above GMballistic regarding strut brace removal. I'll have a few practice goes before I do the actual thing so as to not mess it up lol. Does it matter which brand I use for primer, paint and lacquer? I checked the paints4u and they have a few different brands. Can you guys also recommend where I can find a selection of colours and shades?
  18. Thanks for both your replies guys. I'll probably start with just the plastic covers to see how I get on. Probably even practice on some scrap bits of plastic stuff before trying it for real and leave the strut bar till last. Just gotta decide on a shade of orange now!
  19. Thanks for the tips Vlad. I assume it's the same process for the metal ends of the strut bar? Also once primed, how many coats of paint and lacquer should I apply?
  20. I'm looking to paint a few bits of my engine bay and wanted to know what's the process of preparation and painting and where's the best place to get the paint from (recommended suppliers). I'm looking to start with the battery and brake fluid covers and the engine cover and also the ends of the strut brace. When removing the strut brace is there anything I should be wary of as I've never removed it before. Also as it's metal do I prepare it differently to the plastics for painting? Going to go for a shade of orange as I have the alezan seats inside already and thought it would be nice to continue the theme throughout the engine bay too.
  21. I've gone from a 1.4TDI Polo 75BHP to a 350Z 3.5 V6 313BHP - and here's the punchline...my insurance was CHEAPER!! :scare:
