  1. Not many that know these old Zs were surprised by it, sadly. Yes rather shocking, but all these old cars have these sorts of moisture traps. All of the dash is out and check and there is nothing there, so quite happy with that. Floors are decent, but they are going to be replaced... there is a little rust around the the edge and I would rather replace it now while the car is in pieces.
  2. Went down to the bodyshop today.... car is mostly stripped and the remainder of the items will be stripped. No more hidden nasties, the front inner fenders are the worst and sadly its general the first thing to go. Sunroof has been removed and no damage there, just need to seal it up and get a new rooflining. Shell and parts will getting blasted in the early parts of January. I need a couple of parts, but nothing too serious:- 1. Passenger side fender (worst case I only need the front section/half) 2. Front windscreen, it had a few chips in the screen, but they cracked when the screen was taken out 3. Front slam panel (well not sure if thats the right name, since the bonnet does not close on it) 4. Dash repair or dash console Looks like everyone is confident to have the car finished by spring 2015, the aim is to have it ready for a Nissan Experience day.... which looks possible
  3. yeah, flares are already on order, Rota RKRs look rather nice, so are a very good choice
  4. great!!! loads are creeping out of the wood work
  5. yeah she is I was expecting rust on the fenders, sills, doors and chassis rail - so still good, just need to source some fenders, might be able to get the left one, but not the right
  6. But more pics, the good, the bad and the ugly!
  7. Deposit taken, new owner should be collecting on Thursday
  8. Yeah, going to need to fix/change those things..... Great find, looks an ideal base car to build on Thanks! I hope so.....
  9. rebuilding mine first So you do know what to do with it then Are you like me - keep everything - it will come in handy one day ............... Then realise you can't move as you are storing to much no, I just emptied it all out and have no idea what I am looking at and cannot be arsed to list things separately on ebay. I love getting rid of things that are not used, only to find out what the use was a few weeks later
  10. Yeah, going to need to fix/change those things.....
  11. I have just been informed that work has started on the 240z  I have decided against the rollcage for now and the main reason for this was that the missus drove the GTR around Silverstone GP circuit on a recent track day and now wants a track car (more on this later)..... so the 240z is purely for pleasure and fun!!!! I have ordered some fender mirrors, bumpers and arch flares and now looking at wheels... Rota RKR is the style I want, but completely lost on the sizes and offsets (especially with the flares).
  12. mine is in a worse state They are only Jealous Chris VERY!! Wouldn't say you need another go, who legitimately has a man cave these days? Not many people! Top job This is the state of mine......... cant decide what to do with all of this stuff (240z parts):-
  13. Does the bar have to be wet? What is the purpose of the wetness? I assumed for spontaneous wet tshirt competitions when the strippers arrived...... or am I wrong?!?
  14. Sorry but I expected better..... you have failed all men folk, here are some real "man caves"
  15. Had a rental one once.... took it back on day 2, utterly shocking!!!
  16. The thing about that though is the Zed is getting on a bit now especially the one's like mine, early DE engine models. At the time when they were new they were a fast sports GT car with quoted 0-60mph of 5.9secs but nowadays that doesn't seem so fast when there are so many of these hot hatches & turbo/supercharged this & that which can match or better it with ease. I think though in the end "real drivers" who enjoy speed (like me) will always just get used to what they have and crave more power, more speed, better performance etc. I'm sure that if I had an R35 GTR which is what I lust after. Give it a year or so and I'd want that to be faster, stop quicker etc. Edit: Spelling. Sadly I agree with what you have said about the Z On the GTR front, you may be pleasantly surprised... You get used to the speed and acceleration, but you rarely use that much power on the road. So you may get used to it, but when you do take it on track it still surprises you!! I have had 600hp from 3 months and I am happy to say that is enough. Suspension is great, just need to sort the brakes.... stock is good for road, but not great on track, the aftermarket discs and pads are ok, but I dont think they are that great. Alcon BBK kit is the way but that comes with a substantial pricetag. Mine currently has the boost turned down, so I get a lovely surprise in spring when the roads become dry
  17. Went out with a friend that owns one of these at a recent Silverstone GP trackday, they are great in the mixed condtions we had. Enjoy the purchase!
  18. Its an awesome engine!!! Capable of so much.......... will be very interesting!
