  1. I personally think that we should adopt a US style income tax system, if you have (or are eligible for) a US passport or green card, you're required to pay US tax on your worldwide income regardless of where you're resident. If you've paid taxes on the income elsewhere, you take a tax credit to avoid double taxation. You're still contributing to the nation and the society which you clearly still benefit from and want to keep ties with for whatever reason. When you renew your passport the government check to see if you've been paying your taxes, if you have it's simple. If you want to stop paying the taxes, it's pretty simple, hand back your passport and renounce your citizenship when you move elsewhere, file the next ten years worth of tax returns to show that it's not purely for tax reasons and you're away.
  2. As I posted earlier in the thread, 1% of our population pay 38% of our UK income taxes, that's only 650,000 people out of a population of ~65million. Would all 650k leave, probably not, but you'd bet they'd start thinking about it if they could move somewhere which has a cheaper tax rate without a decrease in standard of living. It wouldn't take long for taxing the 1% harder to cause a decrease of tax income. I know that doesn't sell papers, or attract the anti-capitalists to vote for you, but it's a genuine issue. Short of having a US tax system where you have to report your worldwide income and pay tax on it if you have a British (US in their case) passport, I can't see the solution being taxing working people more.
  3. Without being rude, it's almost like she's in self destruct mode with no thought for who else she takes down too. From everything you've posted on here, you've been giving awesome advice and she hasn't listened to any of it. Some people make things so much worse for themselves.
  4. I don't think coordinates go that small do they? edit: Typo Got to say Jay's was more creative I didn't want to reply to Jay as I thought it could open a can of worms

  6. Not trying to scare monger like the legend who was WhackyWill, and some of you may already know this, so apologies if you do. I saw this on a motorbike forum, I'd say it's still pretty important for us though. If you're using your smart phone to take a picture of your car, garage, motorbike etc. please be aware that if you've got gps active it stores your position in the file metadata. As in; the EXACT location the picture was taken. You can download a picture from the internet, view the co-ordinates and use google maps to find the house where the picture was taken. It's a really simple way for some nefarious soul to find out where you keep your expensive toys. It seems that Photobucket automatically removes the GPS data for you, but not all sites do. I found one of my motorbike pictures had a tag literally on top of my garage Below is how to turn off the GPS picture tag on various devices. IOS: Windows: Android:
  7. Not a bad plan, investment property, stick her in it with the £600 a month rent as per the previous idea. She's helping you out whilst you help her out. If you have the cash up front to do that obviously!
  8. To be fair though, the GT-Four isn't ugly as sin
  9. If you get the pedal dance wrong, literally nothing happens, because you've done it wrong I'd make sure your air filter is nice and clean and maybe give it an oil change too.
  10. Talk to the people you share the driveway with, see if you can fill the dip with cement. If you're paying for it, they probably won't mind. If it's enough of a drop to catch a standard Z on, it probably niggles them too, just not enough to do anything about.
  11. 2, definitely 2 Tim Farron nips on to amazon and buys this
  12. Hypothetical question for everyone, if the Lib Dems won the majority and came to power, who would be more surprised: 1) Every politician who isn't a Lib Dem. 2) The Lib Dem politicians themselves. 3) The general public
  13. Milliband looks like a much better option to vote for than this muppet Corbyn, I'm willing to bet he won't even stand down when they get hammered come June 8 I meant the tablet of goals but valid point, he definitely was a better candidate! I wonder where Labour would be now if they had voted in the correct Milliband in the first place... They must be kicking themselves, they need to kidnap his family and force him back in.

  15. Do we think they'll be rolling this back out?
  16. I would want her ringing up my groceries, she'd under charge me massively it seems
  17. The rules are as below: So if you bought A1 AAA your plate could be much smaller than M999 MMM. The number 1 is allowed to be 14mm as it would look weird at 50mm. Just worked it out roughly, A1 AAA all legal, would be a minimum plate of 302mm by 101mm, A999 AAA would be 460mm by 101mm
  18. I think you've been outed As if Dan didn't already know he was a Tory
  19. Gorgeous, massive congrats on the work Edit: Spelling
  20. There was a guy on my road who used to grow it in his loft, no-one died for that. There's plenty of farms which get found all over the country here: http://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/police-uncover-legoland-windsor-cannabis-farm-a3460616.html http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/771173/Cannabis-factory-drugs-bust-nuclear-bunker-Wiltshire There's seeds for marijuana in bird seed: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-29301803 It seems pretty easy to grow here without death, smuggling or enslaving, it could effectively be it's own industry. Almost like indoor Strawberry farms:
  21. I don't think they'd ever be able to legalise heroin, that literally kills people. Marijuana is no worse than smoking, some would say less severe, it depends how you view paranoia I guess. Obviously they can't blanket all drugs as legal, just the ones which do less net damage to the country than say, alcohol does. Alcohol certainly kills/injures a LOT of people. I completely get what you're saying though, it is a slippery slope.
  22. I always take a picture of it with the big number thing somewhere in the background. At least then I have a rough idea where it is. Although depending on the holiday if I take 1000 pictures it can be hard to find again
  23. Let's take marijuana as an example though, it's been legalised in a couple of US states and there has been very little in the way of negative side affects. A few more car crashes are being reported, but is that correlation or is it a coincidence. Since Marijuana has been legalised in California the dreadful drought conditions of the last decade have improved slightly, I highly doubt the two are connected Just for the record, I hate the stuff, it smells awful and it doesn't interest me in the slightest, but we can't deny that there would be tax increases if they made it legal with a nice 20% added on the top. You'd also be able to regulate it to ensure that people were buying what they thought they were buying.
