My GM '07 HR Fast Road Build Thread (Update 11/01/15 New Exhaust)

Nice work, Zed looks Intrigued to see what you make of the CG lock. I tend to slouch a bit so tempted to try one. -
Street attack on performer at the Bullring Disgusting!
Stutopia replied to Sempiternal's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Is there any need? I'm not a big fan of street performers but to make the leap to this is quite incredible. Fate will work its way around to him. You can only hope it's nothing trivial when it does. -
Cheers! Do you mean the wheel colour as well? Unfortunately they were corroded so needed to be refurbished. I really like the factory colour of them, but the polished and lacquered rim just won't last a winter. Also, it feels like you pay all that money for a refurb so they should look a bit different. I think the black chrome option will look nice without looking too different from now. Spoiler is a Spoiler Depot 'piggy back' from the US, but I'm not sure they are available anymore. I did mean the wheels as well, but I hear you on wanting a change for your cash though.

Got back to my car to find this... part two! :@

The smart power knows when the battery gets low, so it stops drawing on it until after the next ignition on. I believe over the course of a night it shouldn't be problem. Two weeks on holiday though and you won't get full coverage! -
That zed looks great, don't change a thing! What's the boot spoiler BTW?

The correct answer is, of course, to bin it as you are no longer 12 years old and at school, and to buy something with a single strap that goes over the shoulder. Notable exceptions to this rule include any sac designed to carry fluids for those marathons, or dressing up as a Ghostbuster with proton pack for parties. Tell you what......you show me (with your back) you carrying round 30kgs of worldly possessions round the highways and byways of Oz, whilst desperately running away from rabid koala's for 4 months ..........on one shoulder .........and I'll admit that I'm a big bufty for getting a proper one! I took one of these round South America for a year, came back with a super powerful right shoulder! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Military-Style-Heavy-Duty-Cotton-Canvas-Army-Kit-Bag-Olive-Green-Large-Size-New-/121006652717 Bargain price too. You only tend to carry everything from hotel to bus stop and vice versa, most of the time it's carrying 20 quid, some local beer and a hat. Enjoy your trip anyway, sounds cool. Koalas are dangerous. -

You sure it was just one pint? -
Applying the principles of my favourite science, physics, I formulated a complex theory on EMI and purchased some clip on ferrite cores. I fitted these to the speaker wire, as close as I could without disturbing anything, minimal effort. Did nothing. Applying the principles of my favourite emotion, rage, I ripped out all the trim and snapped a few trim clips, pulled a load of cables as far away from each other as possible and taped them down with ally tape. Zero thought applied. Solved it. I'm now whine free, well, at least until I get to work in the morning. How does it know to rain when you get the very last hit of trim out? On the plus side, it's much easier to clean and nanolex trim it when it's in a big wet pile in the shed.
-
I picked a random nearby bolt at first, but shifted to the big one my amp has, no change. I'm fairly sure it's cross talk from something. At least I know how the trim comes out now
-
Bump, as I'm gonna have a play around with this today.

Excuse my ignorance, but are these the same sizes as the Rays off my GT? Trying to get an idea of rubber costs. Ta.

RTbiscuit, the main man on all things dipped, painted, vinyled and Jaaaaag, amongst other things. I think he retired from the door trim dipping business but I could be wrong, defo worth a PM. The quality of the job he's done on mine is spot on.
-
Can't you just pick up a cheap rental whilst it's being repaired? If it was me and I was happy with the initially agreed price, I'd get the seller to fix it and make sure the finish, lines and colour match were spot on. Good luck with it either way though mate.

Disgusting, sorry to see that. I take it your cam doesn't have smart power and picked anything up whilst parked? -
Get working on them vinyl skills, any colour you want then!
-
I don't know much about the Megane but the cam belt went on my Clio at that mileage. Is it due? Is it cheap? Could be a chain for all I know, but worth a Gareth Keenan style invetigation.
-
Had mine done by a tech so I can't offer much advice, but they did find this useful.

Capitalism working nicely and it works even better when essential economic sectors are privatised and de-regulated. What could be more responsible than a bonus lead top management tier of a big bank or energy firm or water company or supermarket being allowed free reign of its respective sector under the illusion of competition and consumer choice as the best form of regulation?

Looks nothing like my scorpion. Just out of interest, are all scorpions slash tips?

I get 70meg on my iPhone5 Sent from the Jaaaaaag at the golf club YAAAARRRRRRRPPPPPPPPPP Yeah but you live in a proper place, not Blackpool! Just out of interest, which carrier is that Dave? Three emailed me the other day to say their switching my iPhone 5 deal to 4G, free! But no idea of their rollout plan or speeds.

After my HFCs went on I took her for a rare drive with the stereo off to hear the new sound. I noticed there's a high pitched whine from the rear which matches exactly to engine RPM, upto about 3k then exhaust covers it up. It's tricky to investigate single handed as you can't hear it at idle, but the other day she was cold and idling at over 1k and I got a chance to have a listen. Seems to be coming from rear left speaker only, whose cable coincidentally runs alongside the reverse cam signal and video leads I popped in recently. Given the match to engine revs, the rev cam install and it being one speaker only, I'm assuming it's alternator whine, interfering with speaker cable. I changed the grounding point for the cam, with no improvement. I really don't want to have to upgrade the cam wires to shielded, as routing them was a PITA. Lesson learned for future though. Anyone had similar and solved? Is it possible to shield the cables with something like aluminium foil or tape? Is there something else it might be? Any ideas would be appreciated. Ta.
