    Polished Plenum

I'm polishing my own mate... Could try that. Buy yourself a stock and go from there
  2. So I finally got round to starting the wet and dry sanding. This is one of the most dirty jobs I've ever done and I think I've got tennis elbow. I've only managed to do 240 grain at the moment and have still got a few sheets left so will continue with that a bit longer. But progress so far: From a way back it looks okay. But there are, as usual, problem areas... Area which my fat stumpy sausage fingers can't reach without skinning my knuckles. For example: I also can't decide whether I should file the number off the lip. I'd assume that's what everyone does as polishing that would be a royal pita! Anyone got a polished plenum that could let me know? Keep 'em peeled, fingers cross it won't be too much longer.
  3. Would love to, but a friend lives nearby and I've already said that ill meet up with her during any free time. Plus I think the +1 wants to go and so some photography picture taking rubbish...
  4. I will be writing the letter this evening, ill post it on here and see what you all think before I send it
  5. I was triumphant in that battle
  6. The thing is, the spray shop is an aircraft repairer, not a car repairer
  7. So Natasha went in for her MOT this week, and on collection of her, the front of the bumper was all scuffed and had been flexed at the wheel arch. To manage to do that I am also guarantee that the perpetrator would have noticed they did the damage. Did the garage inform me of this? No, of course not. It was only until walking into the office and asking "at what point were you going to tell me about the damage to the car" that they said anything about it. Cutting a long story short, the opposite side had similar damage due to the previous owner curbing it before, but I had a quotation for fibreglass repairs and a respray from my friend who works at a spray shop for £200. Driving down to the "approved repairer" that the garage use and getting a quotation for all the work, now comes out at £750. My question is, could I argue that I've had a quote from a repairer for "my section" of the damage an will pay that an they pay the rest? Or is it a matter of having to use their repairer and fork out an equal amount which is subsequently going to be £150 more than way my mate can do it at. Any thoughts?
  8. Your using US gallons not UK gallons. In UK gallons that would be roughly 31mpg. No way would I be getting 31.. Why not? Because I like the sound of my exhaust way too much

  10. As long as I'm not alone... I'm happy haha Just another woman in my life draining my wallet
  11. Well on average I get a reading of 11km/L which to me makes about 44km/Gal, making that 44000/1600= 27.5MPG That seems fine to me, but just never actually seems like it. I haven't ever though of resetting the ODO to find out exactly... Maybe I should try that... I'll get my coat
  12. I haven't really got a clue how many miles per gallon I'm getting, the dial reads in km/L, but the speed display also says in KM/H but the reading is actually MPH..
  13. So ever since I've got the Zed it seemed to me that it DRANK fuel, I'm talking £95 every fortnight. Don't get me wrong, I was expecting a thirsty little bird, but my girl is a true petrolholic!! Sent the car for its MOT this week and she failed on emissions, with a hole in the exhaust, now not too sure if my thought process is correct, but would this once fixed have any positive effect on the ol' girls drinking habbits?
  14. Last year we raised money for Hope Hospice, a local Children's Hospice. This year, as yet, the charity is undecided but discussions are taking place as we speak amongst the team. Stay tuned dear listener Can people make a suggestion towards a charity?
  15. My car has just failed due to exhaust gas emissions, handbrake efficiency and something about a llamda(spelling) high 2nd idle reading.... Anyone have an idea of how much pain my wallet will be feeling?
  16. So, Natasha's work has all started, beginning with a polished plenum. Ordered a stock plenum from Alex last week so that I can keep running the car during the process. So this is the bay as I bought it; Although I've not got the plenum finished, I thought I'd update the thread as the work goes on. Starting on the plenum with a steel wire wheel on a dril, and a miniature wheel on a dremel,l I started to remove the dull casting; Then moving on to a 80 grain flap wheel to smooth off the surface of the aluminium; This afternoon will see more use of the flap wheel and then moving on to 600 - 1500 grain wet and dry sanding. And here's a few cheeky shots after mine and Tasha's bathtime; Keep 'em peeled.
  17. Who's making their way up from the east on the Friday? Would be good linking up on the way over and starting early in the bar.
