  1. Wow...never thought of that... she loves owls..... might get out of fixing this now...... just the drive shafts, cv joints , wheel bearings and hubs to change ..... might have time to fit my quick shifter and the lip on the proper car...
  2. Aaaaah the tyres.... had a previous thread on here about them...that was done in 300 miles of advanced road driving on brand new assy 2's...... and they pretty much looked like that.... No....she introduced the " toys" once she saw the surprise........
  3. Hi Guys... Got the lip today and the initial impression is excellent..... looks a hell of a lot better in real life than either of the pics..... Had a quick placement on the car and it fits pretty damn well straight away to be honest with the cut being pretty flush to the bumper....Here are 2 shabby pics as it was raining and a very dull misty day ....Will post better when its fitted.... http://i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag41/pitlanewanderer/IMG_20140605_150346505_HDR_zps17d2a839.jpg http://i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag41/pitlanewanderer/IMG_20140605_151302899_zps61e5c1b5.jpg
  4. Just thought i would pass on that when a woman says " Surprise me in the bedroom"......... This is not what she means..... http://i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag41/pitlanewanderer/IMG_20140605_130131154_zps6d78c51e.jpg
  5. Hi guys... managed to get this audio from engine bay today...you can here the whine if you listen close... I have tried revving in neutral and putting the clutch in, but the whine still occurs when revving.... http://s1298.photobucket.com/user/pitlanewanderer/media/VID_20140605_142820678_zps043b314d.mp4.html
  6. Hi guys, looking for some ideas on a little problem just popped up on the old Alhambra. getting a whining noise from the engine It happens when in neutral and the engine is revved, kicks in as soon as the gas is put on and increases in volume the higher the Rev range you go. It also happens in every gear when being driven...... however, it does not happen when the clutch is in.... Thought initially the Alternator, water pump or belt tensioner pulleys, but when I disconnected the air filter box from the cold intake tube and ran it, the noise is coming from inside the pipe, into the back of the engine. Jacking it up tomorrow to see if there is a burst pipe somewhere, but I am presuming the worst at the turbo packing in. Anybody with any other ideas or experience with diesel turbos out there..... looks like it is a tricky place to get to to change....
  7. They are common as muck in Orlando, see loads of them everyday. Spoke to one guy when filling up with gas , he thought it was a bit strange me taking an interest in his motor. He just looked at it as a cheap daily driver and nothing special..... hence all the dents and scrapes on it..
  8. Hi Chris, if it's still available I will take it.... Let me know
  9. Hi guys.... Just wondering what info you got on short shifters. Getting ready to change over the wheels and set up a few bits for the summer when I get back to blighty, and since the car will be up in the air, have been trying to think of things to change while it was..... As well as the constant urge to mod all the time.... So this time it's changing out the bose system.... Putting in a quaiff diff and doing the short shifter..... Any recommendations..... Fancied the rogue engineering one, but can't seem to find one to buy.....
  10. I am just looking at fitting them with the the kappa components for the front...... Don't think it really matters about the rears as long as you have decent components for the front.... I just wanted to match...
  11. Zero.... UK..... And my full quota still in Brazil....... And that's difficult by the way........
  12. Ok.... . Come on guys... Lol the beast ain't that bad to run.... If you stay away from any mods and faffy little things like badges, aerials, gear knobs and such like you will be good... It's up to to you how much fuel you use... If you work out your average about 300miles per £85 fill up should get a good estimate.... That is with v power..... And a lot of tear arsing about..... Never had a £100 top up yet and I am in the back end of nowhere in Scotland where my nearest shell garage is 30 miles away... When you get her, make sure you have about 3/4 mm all round on the tyres... That will easy last you the year unless you are constantly thrashing her... Do recommend oil changes when you get it.... Depending on your garage and tools.... Go with engine first... Then gearbox and diff.... But these can wait... A set of pads all round is relatively cheap sticking to standard.... But again....have a look to see what your getting... If it's past its mot recently and no notifications... 2/3 k should be no problem. But like all cars... Anything can happen.... And unfortunately if it does... It's gonna cost you if you can't do it yourself... Overall as standard and in good condition and looked after.... They are like tanks..... If it does break.... Is it going to affect your life massively if you can't afford to repair it.. And having it sit in the garage as an expensive paperweight.
  13. Had your bumper off I see.... Gap looks very noticeable with the white. .... Like the look of the spats on the white.... Not keen on the Gm with them on...
  14. Err...... Mmmmmmmm...... Really don't know what to say to this one.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Town-and-Country-Back-Seat-Sling-Dog-Hammock-Black-For-NISSAN-350Z-/200914956089?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2ec776ef39
  15. I really don't know why you guys are getting such crap mpg.... I don't exactly hang around, but I don't sit in traffic a lot and don't do small journeys. I always use V Power ( admittedly used momentum and ultimate on odd occasion when had no choice).... tracking set up and always being maintained.... You guys must be towing........
  16. I don't usually go out in her unless I am doing more than 40 or so miles..... use the other car for the smaller journeys.... Also use the other car to break myself back in from left handers and autos when I first get back.....How annoying is it to go for the hand brake and adjust the seat......Or wonder why the car is acting funny coming to a stop forgetting you now need to use the clutch.....
  17. Decided today to clear out all the fuel receipts in the cubby. Then thought....Mmmmm I wonder how much I have spent....I have kept all the fuel receipts since I got her so should be no problem.... So here is a breakdown of it all... Car bought on the 02/10/12 ............ Mileage since received...... 7800 Days that were available for driving since I work away...... 157 Total cost of fuel to date..... £1758-03 Litres Purchased................ 1185 Gallons...............................260.66 Average cost per litre..........£1.48 Miles per litre...................... 6.58 Miles per gallon.................. 29.92 Pretty happy with that really...... I reckon I actually had about 120 days that I did drive her....
  18. Yes..... 400 smackers a tad on the high side.....but seems to be the norm on searches....... I know he would rather spend that kind of cash on other things..... It was just an idea.... Even to find someone to restore it would have been an option... Anyway.... Now thinking of getting him some good ridge brake lines..... Discs and pads....... Should keep him happy......
  19. Looks like a shopping trolley..... Nice front end..... But really....that big a rear spoiler...... Looks bigger than F1 & F2 spoilers....must really be kicking out some power..... Mind you , it was disappointing to see so much hand tensioning and wheel movement at only 80kph, and the gearbox stick movement.... Christ....never get the wife away from it..... I am sure the specs are all good..... But would you really give it a second or third look if it wasn't for the grab rail at the back......
  20. Ok... So it's not a Z topic, but I need a little help..... My old man has got himself a TVR 350i (wedge) and am looking at crimbo presents before I go away again. His soft top is looking rather tired and worn, so I thought I would try and get a replacement for him... So I was wondering if anybody new anywhere that supplied reconditioned roofs or replacement roof kits. I would have asked on the TVR forums, but my good old dad is an avid follower on them all......
  21. There seems to be more and more driving around every week...... Have to print off some of those spotted forum tags I think....
  22. Ginger Z with big ring sticker...14.20 ish today....
  23. Yes it does my neep in all these nuisance calls..... I think...but not sure ( someone may correct me ) but in the UK it needs both the caller and the receiver to hang up to clear the line......I sometimes just lay the phone down and come back about 20 mins later and hang it up hoping it has clogged up their line for a bit..... probably doesn't work like that...but gives me some satisfaction in the hope that it might.....
  24. Just renewed end of Sep.......suppose it could be cold calling.........usually put mobile number instead of landline down on everything with potential cold calling......hopefully find out tomorrow....probably not call back now and keep me wondering....
  25. Do all the work myself...don't trust those pesky garages.... The missus is always at home anyway, and with the old man retired he is always round doing the odd job to keep him busy.....That's if they get past the dog...and the kids.....(now wondering which would be the worst fate for said burglar...dog ,kids, wife or father....) The only people are the traders on here who I have dealt with......And that's always been a PM .....
