  1. If you are not desperate to sell it now, it is worth sticking it on ebay for 1.5k for a couple of months. It is entirely possible that there will be someone desperate for an engine and yours will be the only one available. Don't forget that there are a lot more zed owners than people on this forum. Give it a good clean, take a few quality pictures of it and write some BS about how your engine is better than new etc. There are loads of clueless people on ebay.
  2. Is this thread still going on? OMG people stop being so insecure and enjoy your cars
  3. Since you are into plastidipping, have you considered doing it in matt white? Looks really good, IMO.
  4. It would if you asked them to limit it to 2k rpm. Other possible solutions: put a 90yo granny with a megaphone in the passenger seat; put a brick under the throttle pedal.
  5. Change the other bulbs to LEDs as well (numberplate, boot, reverse, vanity, front parking lights). Easy, cheap and makes a big difference.
  6. Nowadays there are many cars that are objectively better than the zed, but that is not why we love it! 335i/d is a nice car, but it is just another BMW 3 series. Nobody will give it a second look.
  7. "That's a nice Fabia you got there bro" - no one ever
  8. Any chance of a design for a different tablet? I'd be interested in option 2 or 4 for a 7" or 8" android tablet. Maybe some kind of universal design that can accomodate several tablet sizes? Not everyone likes apple you know....
  9. You have to be very careful with escalating conflicts like that. In this case the guy you confronted most probably realised that he was in the wrong so he backed out. If the situation is less clear cut and the other guy is convinced that he is right (or just doesn't care) you might get seriously hurt. It only takes one nutter to put you in a wheelchair for the rest of your life and the fact that you were right and he went to jail will not make the situation any better for you.
  10. Get a local welder to cut it off and weld a new flexi or just a straight pipe in. Got mine done for £20.
  11. Mine idles at 15psi when hot with new Motul 5w30 and HKS oil filter. Before the change it was 25psi with 10w40 and standard filter. I don't see lower idle pressure as a problem, if it is normal under higher revs. As it was said before, pressure does not equal flow and it is the flow that is important, not the pressure in itself.
  12. I thought facelift was in 2006 to help clear the old stock then the HR came out April 2007. You are right, it is 06 cars that are facelift with bi-xenons and rear LEDs. I got confused. This means that the car OP was looking is indeed late registered.
  13. It is the plate that determines tax. 55 and earlier - cheap tax, 06 and later - expensive tax. Facelift cars are 07+ anyway, 06 are pre-facelift, but with 296hp rev-up engine.
  14. The car is pretty much brand new!!! Will give it a go Just tried... No luck. It's more of a clunk than a rattle too. Also sounds like a scraping clunk when taking a hard left turn!! Very odd. The When th car is hot it does it even going slow in a straight line on any small bump Oh, i didn't realise that yours is a 370. Even the newest 350s will have rust underneath by now Are you sure that it is the exhaust that it is clunking? Did the noise appear straight away after fitting it? Did you change anything else on the car at the same time?
  15. Lift the car up and bang on the exhaust with something soft to make it vibrate, you will tell straight away where the rattle is coming from. Mine was due to the cat heatshields being so rusted that they were pretty much not there anymore.
  16. Be careful with the man-maths here, it will not return anywhere near that if you will be using the loud pedal more than the bare minimum.
  17. That thing weighs 2 tons, might as well drive a bus.

  19. If it is the Y-pipe heatshield they mean then just cut it off, every single aftermarket Y-pipe comes without it anyway.
  20. Clutch slave cylinder on HRs is located in the gearbox housing (unlike DE where it is bolted to the box externally). It is a gearbox down job and ~£300 in labour alone. Not quite £2500 but still a significant expense.
  21. Gentlemen, you are misunderstanding the law on the issue. It is an offence to exceed the speed limit. Period. ACPO guidelines that you are referring to (10% +2 mph allowance) are just it, guidelines. Not all police forces have signed up to them and even those who have are not strictly obliged to follow them. So, yes, you can be done for doing 71 mph on a motorway. Of course, as a matter of practice, this is extremely unlikely, but a story of someone prosecuted for doing 32 in a 30 zone is entirely believable.
  22. Welding is going to last for ages, if done properly. One of my flexis on the y-pipe was replaced with a welded-in pipe and it lasted for at least 11k miles so far (it was already there when I bought the car, but I only found out about it when I had to weld the back bit).
  23. I got mine welded for £20. If you are happy with the sound of a stock exhaust then welding is the most cost-effective option.
  24. Did you have the car from brand new? If not, did you buy it from a dealer? You might have a claim under Sale of Goods Act 1979, but first you need to establish who do you have that claim against.
