  1. That thing is not a flying car. It is an aircraft that you can drive on a road. It is totally useless as a car. It is huge, has only 2 seats and almost not luggage space.
  2. The aircon will go mad without the relevant dials connected, apart from that you should be OK. If you leave all the electronic bits connected and only remove the trim the car won't even know that something is missing.

    Ouch

Do not accept their first offer. Probably not the second one either. They always make their first offers too low and hope that people will just accept them without questioning. Get for sale ads of similar cars to show them as evidence that their offer is BS for mugs.

The thing is that the insurance company will estimate the cost based on brand new panels from Nissan + spraying at insurance prices. If you buy the car back you should be able to do it significantly cheaper and come out of that better-off. It really depends on how valuable the car is to you and how sound it is mechanically. If you only had it for 5 weeks you might as well just take the cash and buy another one.
  5. Nowhere near the stick he has taken at that garage
  6. http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/79142-pagid-brembo-discs-for-350z-230-for-front-and-rear-delivered/ OEM replacement
  7. Well, it is nice that you are happy and all that, whatever floats your boat as they say, but I definitely know what garage I will not even consider to use in the future. 10 hours to change brake pipes
  8. You need to get an appropriate lead from here: http://incartec.co.uk. After that is is <almost> plug and play.
  9. OP - say something! You can't just stir up an epic shitstorm and disappear!
  10. Council MOT centers are a good alternative. They might not be the most knowledgeable about zeds, but they have exactly zero incentive to fail you because they don't do repairs.
  11. OP - whatever you do, do not pay up and hope to get some back. Once they get your money that'll be it unless you sue them. They are only charging you this much because they think that you are clueless. If you call them on their BS they will back down at least to some extent.
  12. If you are not comfortable with confronting people you might as well carry a vaseline jar with you at all times because you WILL be screwed over and over again. The chances are that the garage in question will give at least some discount if pushed, which is better than nothing. The only evidence needed here is a couple of quotes for the same work from different garages.
  13. £1k for service + extras with your own bits supplied is at least £400 too much. £1k for brakes + lines is also about £400 too much unless they used premium rotors (which they probably haven't). Also, you shouldn't make any allowances for the garage not being a Nissan specialist as the work in question is easy enough to do for any competent mechanic. In other words, you are being taken for a mug. Come back to them and demand a discount. If they won't give you that, name the garage. We want to know who to avoid in the future.
  14. How about "MOVE OVER" to harass those middle lane hoggers?
  15. At 1500 miles a month you should only consider a 350z as a second car. I mean, what fun would it be driving at 60mph in 6th while concentrating hard to avoid using brakes on the same road day after day and still getting 30mpg, if that? 18000 miles year in a 350z is ~£4k in petrol assuming driving it like a granny to work and giving it some at the weekend, plus servicing 2 times more often than normal (9k service intervals). P.S. If you get more than 25mpg out of a zed, you might as well drive a fabia vrs.

To manufacturers 'life' is 100k miles. On higher mileage cars change of box oil makes a difference, auto or manual. If anything, it prolonges the life of the box, which is always a good thing.
  17. This. There is a big difference between having stripes as a part of a complete design covering the whole car and just slapping them on a standard car.
  18. I'd seriously question that, especially the Diablo bit. There is no way a normal production 220hp car could beat a 500hp car from a rolling start in any mph range. Might be possible by using very short gears like on rally cars, or stripping it down to 500kg or something. Probably just another urban legend.
  19. Lift the wheel in question up so that it is completely in the air and try to rock in with your hands. If the bearing is shot there will be free play in it. If there is no free play you are safe to drive. Vibration is not necessarily the bearing, might be a warped disk.
  20. That's hardly a surprise since with a few basic mods and a remap a 2.8T can easily have more power than the zed . Doesn't stop it from being a fridge on wheels though.
  21. Get an aftermarket HU, you will get better sound and no messing around with those silly 90's shiny things. £200 including the loom will get you a reasonable one. Or you can just get one of those cassettes with a 3.5mm lead, if you are too lazy to do the hack.
  22. Where exactly in my post did I suggest conning? There is a big difference between 'this engine is new' and 'this engine runs like new'. You told him to write some BS about his engine.I my self am in the market for a new engine, - If I went out and bought what I thought and was assured by the seller was a sound engine and was told it had this that and the other. And then blew up in my face I'd be fudged off! When selling something that important, I'd want to know the honest truth, I'd want to know about the knock and leaks it may or may not be producing, so I can address them before fitting what I was told 'a better engine than new' Other wise I then have to take it out and repair. OP - Tell the truth, stick it up for sale for what you want, and expect to get offers of what people this it's value is. Take it or leave it By BS I didn't mean outright lies, I meant subjective things that you can get away with, like 'runs smooth' etc. OP's post did not suggest that his engine was in any way unsound, so I suggested to add a bit of a gloss to the ad, that's all. Perhaps it was a poor choice of words on my behalf, I am not in any way advocating dishonesty/intentional withholding of material information. What I meant was clueless about price levels. If it is in a fact a sound engine there is nothing wrong with selling it to someone who is prepared to pay extra. You people are sure as hell ready to jump on a highest moral horse you can find.
