  1. PM'd you too! I'll take the two that are left.
  2. Ok admittedly I'm a bit of an amateur at this and only just starting but I bought one of these (https://www.amazon.c...0?ie=UTF8&psc=1) which is a Farecla G3 clay mitt and while I did get some joy out of it I don't think it can compare with old fashioned claying. In terms of preparing general surfaces it was pretty good I guess but when it came to oxide marks or tar spots I had to get the clay bar out to have the same effect. What are other people's experiences, have I just bought the wrong mitt? And while I have your attention here are a couple of additional questions: 1. Is it really worth applying a polish if you don't have an electrical polisher? I rubbed my arm off on saturday and can't say the effect was particularly noticeable compared to just waxing the car? 2. I'm going through Quick Detailer like its going out of fashion, given that its essentially a lubricant, can anyone recommend a cheaper home made alternative? Many thanks
  3. Doh! I've just bought some Dodo Juice Supernatural Wax! Didn't even know about this FK1000P stuff, hopefully it does roughly the same stuff. Many thanks by the way for all this information, its much appreciated.
  4. I see, so if having this coating applied its critical that the car is polished and prepared to a really high standard since that is the shininess that you will be stuck with once the coat is applied? I'm currently trying to see if its better to waste my money on Dodo supernatural or Autoglym high definition wax, as a novice detailer the amount of products is simply overwhelming.
  5. Excuse my total ignorance, while I think I understand what you're talking about with beading and sheeting I'm primarily interested in how shiny my car looks. Can you explain how sheeting and beading relate to aforementioned desirable shininess? I also presume this coating protects the paint from minor damage more effectively than wax? Just trying to weigh up how worth doing this is.
  6. I've got the Akrapovic with Berks. Low rumble up to 3800rpm then it starts going mental. I suppose it depends where you want the loudness to kick in!
  7. Is there no benefit to waxing the car when it has this finish?
  8. Hi Stuart, I have a house in Croatia and sometimes drive the my 370z down there for the summer. Just out of interest where did you have this work done and how much would it be without the interior detailing?
  9. I got mine for the noise. My Takeda Short ram intakes make a lovely v8 roar. There are no power gains to speak of and in fact increased heat in the engine bay. Worth it though for that takeda/akrapovic soundtrack. Now if only I could get rid of the rattle from my Berks HFCs!
  10. How does a set of super deep 19"'s compare with 370 OEM wheels in terms of weight?
  11. Hello All, I've done a search and read most of the threads on here but I reckon my specific circumstances warrant their own post. My 370 has a full Akrapovic exhaust, Berks HFC's and Takeda Intakes. I'm in love the Akrapovic build quality and look, its a fantastic piece of kit, but overall I just wish it was a bit louder. Don't get me wrong, once it gets going at about 4.5k rpm+ its lovely, but below that a bit quiet. My 350 had a Cobra exhaust on it and I was in love with how that sounded. So the questions: 1. Is it possible to have my existing exhaust professionally mechanically modified so its a bit louder? (preferred option) 2. Which element of the exhaust is most responsible for noise, is it the back box for example? 3. Is it possible to mix and match elements of different exhausts, so could I swap my back box for a Cobra and keep the rest? Any pearls of wisdom much appreciated! Cheers.
  12. Ok many thanks, I feel slightly more reassured about this. If it seems like an issue I'll look into some aftermarket shields. I'm primarily interested in the noise rather then gains, my Akrapovic is a bit quiet at the low revs!
  13. So Takeda don't do them anymore and sadly the ebay guys GM recommended are out of stock and can't deliver before friday when I am booked in to have all this done. I have a read a little bit about heat soak but am wondering if anyone can shed light under what conditions could this be a problem (I'm not a track driver) and how big a performance impact am I looking at? Many thanks.
  14. Got my red starter button within 36hrs of ordering it. Many thanks to Adrian, will definitely visit again.
  15. Oh thank you! That looks perfect assuming it fits, I'm always a bit dubious about the ability of a thin sheet of metal to stop heat convection/conduction but there must be a reason why people have them! Sadly I'm a long way off being able to manufacture something like that myself.
  16. Hi all, In a incredible fit of generosity my girlfriend recently ordered a set of Takeda Short Ram intakes for me while she was in the US on business (a keeper I know). She brought them back only to discover that there are no heatshields in the package and indeed none listed on the manifest. The distributor is adamant that Takeda don't make them with heatshields anymore. Since I'm a bit worried about heat soak could some of the proper gear heads on here talk me through the implications and whether I need to source some heat shields anyway? I've tried the tinternet but no joy. Many thanks Luka
  17. Bah! Don't fancy the importing from US drama but thanks for the replies guys, much appreciated.
  18. Hello all, Anyone know what these wheels would be and whether they would fit a 370z without much mucking around? Many thanks!
  19. Very pleased to have got the car from such a reliable and enthusiastic owner. All the 370 guru's can look forward to me pestering them on the forums from now on
  20. Is this for an import or uk car? Could you point me towards a picture of it actually on the car? Cheers.
  21. Ideally an outdoor as I probably won't be able to get a garage, I know the good ones are lots of money so hoping to save a bit of cash by buying second hand. Leaving the car potentially for six months so any tips on how to avoid problems would be much appreciated too! Ta very much Luka
