I wouldn't bother with Nissan, I'd get one of the traders on here to do it for you or do it yourself

thanks for the replies, I know the vibration is normal, it's hard to explain but it's like I feel a knock and with this knock I can feel thegearstick move, also when I start the car and drive I can hear what sounds like the gearbox shuttling when I first change gear. I guess it wil be normal but I will have a look at the rear gearbox bushing to put my mindat rest.
-
Thanks for the reply, I've never noticed it in any other cars but thought I should check it was normal. Also never knew it was a bad idea to rest my hand on the gear stick, I'll try to stop doing that then. The clutch one I knew and don't do.
-
Just want to know if this is normal or if not what possible fixes I could do. If I am driving along, normally, and rest my hand on the gear stick, when I go over a bump, even a small one, I can feel the gearstick move and it feels as though there is a lot of weight behind what is causing it to move. The amount of movement is small and I can't see it move with my eye, just feel it. I do have the nismo titanium gear stick knob which may be amplifying the feeling. Is this normal? Any ideas? Knackered gearbox mount/bush?

Yep, every word, every time. Actually cancelled my car insurance once n the past because I didn't like some of the small print once I got all the documentation through.

Regarding the question about the break lines, if you go onto the optional extras part of an insurance website then they are specifically listed and so yes, I would declare them. Things like pads and that are fine unless you have knowingly upgraded them eg. using ferodo DS2500. You tyre query is a good one and the same thing that I thought of yesterday but they are road legal (I have the MPSS) and it isn't an option on the optional extras list and so I wont be declaring them unless they ask me about them or ask about any modifications in a specific way. When going for insurance, always remember that if you are not asked, you do not have to say but if you are asked then you must be truthful. At the same time the insurers questions must be clear and unambiguous.

2.5k in a year....would you bother with a service?
jell36 replied to deank93's topic in 350Z General
Get it done, the oil absorbs water over time hence the 12 month rule. A P1 doesn't break the bank so might as well do it and keep your service history in good order. If your never going to sell the car or don't care about resale value then by all means just get it done before you next take the car for a good drive but personally for the little cost I would just do it and have the peace of mind. -
Ok, I'll give sky and Prestige a ring tomorrow along with a few others like chris knox.
-
I'll be giving you a ring Tim, don't worry Oh Tim, I changed a couple of the bolts in the engine bay for some stainless steel ones, do I need to declare them?
-
Looks like I'm wrong and it is indeed genuine then. They must get a lot of entrants to be able to pay for the car and make money. I know they can sell peoples details on and make money from doing that but didn't think they would make enough to cover the cost of brand new cars every month.

Website seems legit, I have seen the company with a stand containing a Porsche at Manchester Airport. But twice a month seems too good to be true and so suggests scam or something in the small print to me.
-
thanks, that's the sort of info I'm after. I usually start with comparison sites and then go onto company websites directly. I tried sky a couple of weeks ago and they were pricey but it was too early for me to get a true price (more than a month until my renewal when I was getting a feeler for prices), they said they would ring me back this week to provide a more accurate price. I'm with Admiral at the minute but they seem to have gone up in price. Privilege is the best so far but need to ring them up and declare my mods as their site wouldn't let me add them.
-
Fair point but it would be up to my insurance company to first void my insurance and then it would be at other peoples risk.
-
Agree insurance companies will do anything to avoid paying but that's why there is an ombudsman to ensure the insurance companies don't just do what they want without reason. Never said I was a good driver If someone hits me then it's on their insurance, don't have to use my own. Mods still don't come into it so long as I don't expect them to be replaced. Didn't come on here to get the lectures. I've read 100's of posts like this over the last year or so and know how you all react hence why I keep trying ot get it back to my original point.

In principal I agree but haven spoken to many people in the legal profession and insurance industry then so long as I can prove that the exhaust made no preformance difference and didn't contribute to any accident in any way then I will be fine. If I had taken out the insurance with the exhaust then that's a different matter. But as it was added near the end of my poicy and as the insurer has charged me for standard items (rays wheels) as extras then I can argue it. But anyway, it's my choice and my risk. Legally I can take 28 days to inform the insurer and so that only leaves 14 days for me to avoid an accident, which I do everyday. The point of the post was just the shock of the price increase for a couple of small mods.
-
yes and no, it's a point I'm more than prepared to argue if I needed to.
-
that's from the insurance comparison sites as my renewal is due at the end of April. I knew mods would increase the insuance cost but I never expected it to go up that much. Currently my insurer has been told about the brakes but not the exhaust just yet as it was only fitted 2 weeks ago.
-
If add add my Nismo exhaust and uprated brakes (DBA T3'a, ferodo pads and braided brake lines) to my insurance quote, the price goes up by £250 !!!! Never thought the insurance was going to jump that much. I don't think the insurance companies like add ons this year. It's going to be expensive

Thanks Kaizer, I'll ring round and try to find a garage that can do it. Alex, I've tried that several times, I've been driving it for a year and the coolant level is always full.
-
Kaizer, yeah I can hear the noise everytime and it is when the air con is turned off (I've not tried to listen for the noise when the air con is turned on). You're a little far from me as I'm in Nottingham. So do I just need to ask a gargae to vacuum bleed my cooling system? How long of a job do you think it is?
-
The coolant has been in for around a year (genuine nissan coolant from alex). 3 times I have put a funnel in the radiator neck and top off the fluid, and then ran the engine several times to clear any air, running like this for about an hour. It looks like there is no air in the coolant. Under the bleed screw is just coolant, no air.
-
Hoping someone can help. If I take my Z out for a drive, once the engine gets hot and I have been running at medium or above rpms, I can hear what sounds like water boiling when I come to a stop, I will keep hearing the noise for a minute or so and then it will stop until I rev the enigne again. Is this normal? Anyone got any ideas as to what it could be? I have tried bleeding the cooling system a few times, thinking it might have been air in the system, but it doesn't seem to imporve. Also coolant colour and oil colour look fine, no bubbles in the coolant overflow tank and so no thinking head gasket.

That explains it, I just tried to order one again for next month using the code but it said the code was invalid

mine is ordered, thank you
