  3. short sleeves are in order, worst case it goes up your arm
  4. I know more S**t than you, well at least much larger quantities of it (nearly 600 L/s) work for a Waste Water company was going to be a temporary job after the MOD been 14 Yrs now
  5. my Dad was a welder / fabricator so couldn't help but pick some up luckily for me he's blind as a bat now because unlike you he would not be impressed by some of my work would probably get a slap round the head and told to do it again so mostly self taught and 30 Yrs of modifying cars (petrol in my Veins)
  6. now you're just flirting with me
  7. if this was a real project where i was just trying to Turbocharge my car i could never do it like this with the huge amount of time and developement it's taken but it's actually me just playing with my car and building stuff i do intend to actually finish it by the time my insurance is due in may it also helps that i don't actually need a car so having it off the road a lot isn't a problem i only did 300 miles last year and the mot ran out a month ago so it hasn't moved in a month.
  8. is this leading up to a confession about you speaking Klingon and the special outfit you wear at the weekends bIjatlhHa’chugh qaHoH
  9. Finished adapting the manifolds for the new turbo the picture shows only the turbo exhaust housing attached as it's a bit lighter for test fitting also test fitted the new oil system set up discovered a few clearance issues nothing major won't get anything done now until after next Friday as I'm working all week then MOT friday
  10. love the idea of the Jap banzai flag Cool
  11. Sorry to hear about the man flu women just don't understand how bad it is compared to woman flu As for your comparison of our builds i disagree i think you've done a damn good job had to plot my own curve for the pressure sensor luckily i have a very accurate pressure gauge i did consider the polynomial route for the non linear sensors but didn't want to bog down the poor little processor so used a simpler equation to give good enough results worst error was 2 Psi i can live with that what tft are you using ? i might to go over to tft myself at a later date but i think for now i'll just get it working with the 4 line lcd or i'll never get anything finished Anyway keep up the good work i look forward to some updates
  12. BTW just spent last hour reading your thread excellent job well done
  13. Hey Chris how are you getting on with this project I've used a prototyping shield for mine rather than vero-board I'll etch a board for it when i'm finished, I'm using an uno to control my turbo oil pressure (among other things AFR,Turbo temp and boost control) had a pig of a time trying to map the non linear pressure sender although got it pretty accurate 1-2 psi I'm not happy with how i achieved it how have you done it ?
  14. yea it was an interesting ride but not one i can recommend
  15. If you've been following this thread you'll know that I've decided to add a scavenge pump to the turbo oil system as oil was getting past the seals due to the inadequate drainage. the old set up had just the one pump for oil feed controlled by a mechanical pressure regulator fed from the tank through an oil filter the pressure is now controlled from a pressure sensor so i've done away with the mechanical regulator also I've put in a one way valve tee'd into the oil feed line just after the feed pump so that when I shut the engine off and the run on delay for the feed pump has timed out the scavenge pump will keep running for a set time emptying the turbo and all oil lines drawing in air through the one way valve this valve is fed from the top of the oil tank above the oil level rather than drawing in contaminated air from outside, this is what the old set up looked like the set up was mounted on an ally plate held in place by the exhaust heat shield mounting studs and some fixings into the chassis this was too small to accommodate a second pump so had to remake the mounting plate the old plate on the left larger new on the right pilot holes drilled nearly ready to be cleaned up and painted holes drilled to correct size and painted everything fixed in place so i can sort out the wiring and pipework sorry about the dodgy photo's trying to maintain Keyser's high standards
  16. Not just the Car also the world And I shall not be dark, but beautiful and terrible as the Morning and the Night! Fair as the Sea and the Sun and the Snow upon the Mountain! Dreadful as the Storm and the Lightning! Stronger than the foundations of the earth. All shall love me and despair! But maybe I'll just get the turbo sorted first and leave my plan for world domination until next year
  17. i like it ingenuity, i bet you used to watch blue peter but i do have to agree you need a new camera for a while i thought it was my eyes no one can take that many blurry pictures guess i was wrong it seems you can
  18. another minor update got home this evening to find the new larger display had arrived for my boost/oil pressure controller so obviously i ignored my wife and rushed off to my soldering iron this is a much larger display as can be seen from the picture it was getting a bit crowded trying to display the amount of information i wanted this new display shows oil pressure and temp boost pressure and now air to fuel ratio i've also modified the software to let me enter limits for the AFR to give me a too rich / too lean warning
  19. whether i made you laugh or in your case PMSL or be a little more careful i consider the dent to my pride worthwhile
  20. let the mocking commence.no it didn't run over me i was just dragged along underneath the mrs took it quite well although she does keep poking me where it hurts which is easy as i hurt everywhere
  21. yea i know what you mean I can only put it down to the irritating deaf old geezer distracting me but at the end of the day my life, my responsibility
  22. I was expecting some serious P**s taking from this post and if it comes I'll take it on the chin if it makes people just that little bit more cautious it's worth it like you said it could have been really bad if i hadn't been crushed under the car the idiot who swerved to avoid me must have been doing at least 50 in the 30
  23. well talk about learn from your mistakes, I wont make that one again I've always been really careful in the past hand brake, in gear and chock the wheels unless of course i did do it and the missus wants the insurance money
  24. Thought that I'd get some measuring up done this afternoon as i need to modify the manifold for my new turbo as it doesn't quite match up little did I know how close i would come to putting in an application for a Darwin award and taking myself out of the gene pool I was tempted to keep this to myself rather than look Stupid but if it makes people a little more careful then I can handle looking dumb or if it just makes you laugh what greater gift can i give so I put the ramps behind the rear wheels got my chocks out and put them by the front wheels ready so I'm just starting to reverse up the ramps and my Dad appears from nowhere starts rambling on that his laptops playing up hang on I say just let me get this up the ramps. so I get it up the ramps and he's still going on about his laptop ,He's no idea what i'm saying as he hasn't got his hearing aid in as usual. so I sort out his laptop he's turned the Wi-fi off (again) and he buggers off home. so i get under the car and start taking the back box off one of the bolts is a pig and you have to get your hand over the top of the pipe so this is where i am underneath the car with my hand jammed between the bodywork and the exhaust pipe when the car rolls off the ramps Yes you've guessed i was so distracted by the deaf technophobic that i didn't put my handbrake on, didn't put it in gear and as i went past dragged by my Z down the drive and into the road I saw as i suspected my chocks were where i left them and not under the wheels so on the bright side i had loosened off the backbox so when the car hit the bottom of the ramps and the backbox hit me in the chest i didn't break any ribs and the passing car managed to swerve out of the way and not smash onto the Z so other than some bruises and the skin i left on the drive i got off light I've got no complaints While I've been sitting here debating whether to click POST or delete this I've decided to name the Z "CHRISTINE "
