  1. I called a garage about doing it and they flat out refused to even touch the gearbox on a zed Just out of intrest, how much was the labour on the job? Its should only be a 30 min job really shouldnt it
  2. Seafoam is pretty easy. On the celica there was a brake booster line that connected the the air intake (im assuming theres something similar on the Z), you have to suck up 1/3rd of the can into the engine VERY SLOWLY so as not to hydrolock the engine whilst also keeping the revs high as it will try to stall. Once its all in there turn the car off for at least 15 mins and then fire her up again. You will probably need to stand/sit there for 4-5 mins revving the engine (not like a mad man, just upto 3k ish rpm, little throttle blips) and smoke will come out the back. Then take it for a "spirited" drive until you notice theres no smoke coming out the back, iirc the can says you need to use hard throttle inputs to force the dirt to come out of the engine. With the celica the first time i floored the throttle the car spluttered coughed and almost stalled, i looked back and couldnt see the end of the street for the fog i had created...so just be aware of that. The other third put into a nice fresh tank of fuel and the last third put it into the engine oil. you need to change the oil after 100 miles orso as it will thin the oil and degrade its performance. I did it on a car with 140,000 miles, it needed it badly lol!
  3. Any good quality D2R/s (depending on car) will do just fine. I changed mine last week, took about an hour as i attempted to do it without taking the wheels off. Just not worthbthe effort, get the wheels off and save time! Also, for anyone that doesnt know. The balasts dont just push onto the bulb, you have to twist them off and on again (clockwise iirc). I almost broke mine thinking they were just push fit things!
  4. Il try it again tonight doing that! otherwise im guessing the pump is dead, or maybe fill of limescale or something as i hear a click noise when i press the button.
  5. Yes yes yes, another topic on headlamp washers. Just need a bit of advice. I bought the car a few weeks ago during the bad snow we had, the headlamp washers didnt work then but i assumed they were either frozen up or i was operating then wrong. However, its now dried up and got warner and they still dont work. I have checked the washers can come out of the bumper freely (pulling them out by hand), this is fine. I have filled up the washer bottle to the max twice. I have checked the non return valve (the windscreen washers are working fine). I have undone the arch liner to check washer fluid is actually getting the the second bottle which it is. I have operated the washers and made sure theres no random puddles of washer fluid below the car. But no wash I assumed the following was true, but feel free to correct me if im wrong; To operate the washers, turn on engine and hold the washer button (the one doen near the fuel cap release/ESP off button. This should wash the lights, it should then stop when you let go. OR...... Car on, healights on and the washers should operate every 3-4 times you wash the window using the steering wheel stalk things. Nothing seems to work. When i push the washer button (down by the ESP button ) all i hear is a slight click noise from over by the passenger front light which is where the headlamp washer motor is if im not mistaken, sounds almost like a relay. Im leaning towards the washer pump being duff but wanted someone opinion who has had the car for more than 3 weeks like myself!
  6. Yup, something added on the later models. I may be wrong but i think it was a roadster specefic "upgrade" too.
  7. I almost did that too. I got mine out bu pulling the light housing towards the front wheels and at the same time using a knife to pop the thing out from the wing. They dont really like coming out though and that cable is very short!
  8. Agreed, but i dont see it as solely a mans car
  9. Damnit dont say thats the big one! mine (54k service) is almost due, but it was late for a few other services so this one is actually due at 59k. I have a receipt in my pack of paperwork for the first service at over £600.00.....
  10. I have mine set on auto fan speed and auto "Zone COntrol" all the time, but A/C is off. I was always under the impression it drinks fuel, plus it saps engine BHP (although in the Zed i beleive it dis-engages when/if you use full throttle)
  11. Was a good documentary. What i heard of it anyway, the mrs was whining in my ear almsot the entire hour asking about the heli crash. i kept telling her to watch and you might find out bit no, she is unable too !
  12. Ahh cool, lots more Zeds in the area than i thought. I assumed me and BulletManget were the only ones.
  13. Im jumping on the "epic plate" bandwagon!
  14. Heh, yes, i live in Kesgrave, 3 mins drive from Adastral park. The car i saw (blue one) possibly had a female driver, but cant be sure.
  15. What are the ods of a photo fitting guide? I feel much more confident now i dont have to remove the mirrir glass but still would rather have photos
  16. these arent road legal though are they?
  17. This was behind me the other day too (or at least a blue one was anyway...)

  20. wow that radio from halfords is cheap!
  21. They are not that great in the dry either..... Burn them with fire!!!! i was being polite.... Are they really that bad? I always had in my head that Bridgestones were pretty good tyres...
  22. I go 5200, makes me shift "early" (if you can call it that) to save fuel when i forget what im doing.
