  1. Hi what kit did you use?/ theres lots out there but would like to use a kit already done to a 350Z Cheers JohnUKVetteNut
  2. Already HID...surely its much better than standard H7 bulbs?? The advertising blurb with the upgrade kits says 300% better than H7 bulbs.Just trying to find out where the ballasts can be fitted as space appears limited . Cheers JohnUKVetteNut
  3. Has anyone upgraded their H7 main beam bulbs to a HID bulb and ballast? Any problems found? Thinking of doing my 2005 JDM as main beam is POOR! Cheers JohnUKVetteNut
  4. Hi My 2005 JDM is exactly as you describe re "heater" never seems to get it spot on!! Only time it really works is winter time with the roof down on my roadster..yes I use it all year round and its very good. JohnUKVeteNut
  5. Hi My 2005 JDM has poor high beams. I have tried upgrading the to the best legal xenon 150% brighter than standard.bulbs but still weak compared to low beams. I am now trying to get info if I can install HID,s to a non hid high beam car ? Anyone done that? Cheers JohnUKVetteNut
  6. Yes Got my iridium,s from Zmanalex. great service and price. JohnUKVetteNut
  7. Hi As for accuracy my JDM reads 76/7mph when my sat nav is at 70mph.Mysatnav is right. Therefore if speedo is 9-10% fast then mileage is overstated the same amount!! I got my correct odometer reading from its 1st MOT ( convert that from kilometers to miles) and then everything after that is miles. Your speedo may say Km/M but it has been changed to MPH to import Mine has alittle black sticker over the K on the odometer face. The small dial pod on dashboard says Km/H but its the same as your speedo MpH, its also fast by the same amount on mine. JohnUKVetteNut
  8. Hi Guys just attempted to download this and my computer would not allow it as it contains malware threats??? has anybody downloaded this and not had a problem? I know I can override the security and download it, but due to a previous serious downloaded trojan I now listen to my computer when it says "THREAT" JohnUKVetteNut
  9. Thank you very much, a comprehensive list. I now have the ability order bulbs without having to strip old ones and then find new ones!1 thanks again JohnUKVeteNut
  10. hi just replaced my front sidelight bulbs with leds...great, now want to replace my rear sidelight and brake light bulbs....which are they? what part numbers do i search for? its a 2005 jdm, is there any list anywhere on forum showing bulb/car model fitment? cheers JohnUKVetteNut
  11. Hi Folks Have just changed oil and filter so next its the plugs...my Z is a 2005 JDM Roadster Auto...what plugs do I use? Its the base engine model. Cheers JohnUKVetteNut
  12. Hi I have a 2005 JDM FairladyZ auto roadster...so its the slowest one out there!! I have no issues at all with speed/power, assuming you have gearbox switch in power mode? this should allow auto box to work as well as it can and also let you ( in Tiptronic mode hold gears long into corners without changing) It will eventually change gear for you if you hit limiter or just before (6500 rpm I believe). I previously had a Corvette with similar power/weight and yes my JDM does "feel" slower, but its actually not that far off. I believe that the torque curve on a Z is virtually linear whereas on most other cars its not and you feel a surge at higher revs where a Z pulls all the way. I have read ( American Z Forums ) that its believed over there that a AutoZ in a pro driver is as quick as "normal" driver in a manual ( to do with gear change speeds) I stand to be corrected here but in no way is an auto Z much slower ( 1/2 to 3/4 second??) than a manual to 60MP( using the same engine that is 280 BHP) Manual cars with above 280 BHP are quicker but thats not a true comparison. Anyone in Norwich area willing "drag" me to 60? ( same BHP obviously) I would be happy to see what happens!! JohnUKVetteNut
  13. Hi Have just done my led sidelight upgrade and I did not have to remove any bolts to do it?/ Just 3 pop in plastic clips and 1 phillips screw which gave me easy access by just moving front shield from under rear shield and bending to one side..lots of room. The hardest part was putting back the sidelight with led as it is longer than a bulb and the wiring is not over generous on length..but managed it. Light is really bright..Great..Also re-greased seals to main/headlight bulb access cover whilst under there! JohnUKVetteNut
  14. Hi All just to say another Zforum ( sorry guys) have confirmed that ALL Roadsters come from Japan and have the VINYL top as standard. Later aftermarket replacements can be cloth/fabric. Also the aforesaid forum do recomend a water based treatment for vinyl tops ( Renovo was mentioned) and not to use any fabric restorer kit of kits that they say are ok for both fabric and vinyl. Anyone know any firm that does "at home" hood restoration in Norfolk Cheers JohnUKVetteNut
  15. Yes I assume its vinyl as its defo not a soft cloth finish (felt..mohair etc) but a very hard material and I think there are only 2 types? Am i right in saying its vinyl??? JohnUKvetteNut
  16. Hi All My 2005 JDM roadster is going to have some waterproofing added to the roof material. I think its vinyl? When it rains the roof stays wet a long time after, so I am assuming some water repellant is needed? What to use on a vinyl roof...there are lots out there but would like to do it right please. Thanks JohnUKVetteNut
  17. Hi Folks my base JDM has no cruise control fitted. Can a OEM one be retro fitted or aftermarket one?? Fed up with trying to keep to speed limit as my car just loves to go!! JohnUKVetteNut
  18. Hi all yes def works on JDM's..mines a 2005 auto roadster so its a rarer one and works on that OK JohnUKVetteNut
  19. Hi Try keith Michaels Insurance..it specialises in JDM 350z's but may do UK ones as well...they were by far the best value when I insured my JDM this feb. Better value than any other ( on this web forum or most search engines I could find!!) JohnUKVetteNut
  20. Hi I am a Oil Heating installer, part"P" electrician and licensed for un-vented cylinders. Worcester are very good but very expensive to purchase. Should it go wrong after warranty it can be very expensive to diagnose PCB faults and Worcester engineers are expensive too. grant oil boilers are the next best IMHO and a lot less to buy. Good company to deal with if you do have problems ( I have done warranty calls for them previously) As for Combi or not, the 1st Option is Normal condensing boiler with an unvented cylinder ( gives you mains pressure hot water in large quantities) 2nd Option is keep copper cylinder and use new boiler. 3rd Option is Combi ( I have a Warmflow combi at home but as there are only 2 of us at home now the smaller hot water volume is of no great concern). Combi's are limited in the volume of water they can supply at any 1 time, and for families you may want to consider an unvented cylindet. Sorry for long post...but you hit on my lifes work as a tradesman. If I can be of any help then PM me and I will willingly talk on phone and help if I can. If your local then estimates/guidance are free to club members. JohnUKVetteNut
  21. HiMy JDM auto/roadster cost me £354 fully comp in January! Age 64, 9 years NCB if it had been a UK car it would have been £260 !! But could not find a UK roadster/auto! when i was looking. JohnUKVetteNut
  22. Hi The plastic lens is very clear...sometimes there is a litle mist/moisture inside but soon clears. When i change out my main beam bulbs I will clean it all inside and grease the seal around bulb holes to help prevent moisture. JohnUKVEtteNut
  23. Having read internet info on led bulbs the short version appears as " bulbs can be led if original fitment and eu approved" you may not swop filament type bulbs to led type bulbs as the light lens may cause incorrect beam pattern for mot, and the light housing ( headlight etc) is not approved for led bulbs. Also any "blue light or tint" is illegal ( blue is emergency vehicle light colour only) and incorrect ( the incorrect ( blue tint) being the decision made by the individual MOT tester at that time). So thats why some mot stations pass led's and some do not. Even if you locate sidelight leds with eu approval the tester may fail your vehicle as he does not like the blue tint!! PS if you fail mot for lighting, then no retest fee is needed when you take it back is what i have been told!1 JohnUKVetteNut
  24. Hi Folks Seems to me that we are poorly equiped on main beam. I have trawled through the internet and have come up with an option...Ring Maxima H7 Xenon gas bulbs 55watt (road legal) seem to have the brightest output, although other makes have good write ups also. So have bought Ring bulbs and will let you know what they perform like when I have fitted them. Can anyone tell me why led sidelight bulbs are not MOT approved, the only reason told me by a retailer is that they are not EU approved? surely thats the silliest reason not to have good sidelights i have heard.. JohnUKVetteNut
  25. Hi My JDM 2005 roadster has poor main beam ( the dip ones are superb!) Can anyone tell me what bulb I have fitted? I understand that its "tricky" to gain access to change bulbs so would like to be able to have new ready when taking out old ones! I have just purchased the appropriate sidelight ( led with resistor inbuilt) to upgrade that but cant find any reliable information on main beam bulbs. On my previous car (not a Zed) all I did was replace existing with "off road" 100watt Halogens. I realise these are not road legal but they work superb and MOT never pulled me on them! Cheers JohnUKVetteNut
