  1. Not a bad idea that!! Make sure you mention that when you book as they're busy boys down there ( and don't expect a Z or GTR )
  2. I've never understood why such well sorted cars (and bikes) go for a fraction of the build cost. I know that's the way it is, but why? Why is it acceptable for a £30k car to 'have' to go for a third the price? Good luck with the sale, bet you're gutted though.
  3. Make a day of it. Book it in at Abbey, use their courtesy car to take the wife/girlfriend out of the day somewhere in not so sunny Surrey!
  4. .... looking very moody in satin black JA55
  5. Depends on where you are? Abbey Motorsport In Oxted Surrey are pros in high performance Nissans plus others.
  6. As Bronzee says for sure. You could talk to Mark at Abbey about that engine as I think they considered it for Project Zed 2 but it'll be a massive job including trans, ecu, wiring, probably dash too. I think SC or TT on your stock motor will be more beneficial.
  7. I expect you must've seen the Jeff Ludgate/Abbey motorsport Skyline go 9.38? and he has around a 1000hp I believe and a well developed chassis and suspension set up . I think you'll be hard pushed to get into the mid 13's! It costs a lot of money to shave even small amounts of time off. Just ask John Bradshaw of Brams Racing with his Project Z. Fastest Jap engine'd car in Europe but has taken years of development and a HUGE budget to get near the mid 6's. As has been said, lose some weight and get some dedicated tyres. If you've got the 1/4 mile bug ..... it's going to get expensive
  8. It's happened to an old mate of mine twice now in Manchester area. Second time he took a really good beating with a baseball bat. Lost a car both times. Disgusting.
  9. So tell us more about your built motor spec Mark will have to fill in the finer details. Tony built it with forged rods and pistons, heads freshened up and put back together with love As for photos, I think Mark or his lovely wife took some and I believe it may well be in a magazine in the near future but that was something Mark was arranging so .... I know nuurthing
  10. Abbey Motorsport have recently SC'd my '04 Z. It's now running just over 400bhp at the hubs but we're aiming for about another 20hp shortly. This is on a built engine. I bought mine second hand from Ian who posted above. Ian actually did a really good thread on his installation if you do a search. This is an HKS GT blower. AS for drivability , there really is very little difference to stock until the revs rise. Faster you spin the motor, the more boost you get. So you can sit in traffic, drive normally, cruise on the motorway just as stock, but if you want to drag, or over take in places you'd never have dreamt of before, the power comes in fast and it spins the motor up fast. Caution is needed in the wet in 1st and 2nd accelerating for sure. It's not like a turbo at all where you get a massive hit of torque mid range, it's very linear. I love it, it suits my driving style. Ian sold the kit as it didn't suit his driving style. There's loads of info on here in the FI sub section and on other Z sights. I reckon you could easily spend from £10k to £20k, depending on performance level, engine build, exhaust, uprev etc etc and then you'll want some better handling too, and brakes. It's endless but that's what we do eh!
  11. Yep, you can't go wrong there crawley.....oxted .... yeah close
  12. If your car is mechanically sound it sounds like you must've hit diesel. Even a small patch is evil. I've been unfortunate enough to hit diesel on a motorcycle, it's slicker than ice.
  13. I know, I'm always modding my bikes .... it's hard to say know but we're just going to do this one upgrade then some suspension work and I'm done, finished, complete ........ honest
  14. As said, we'll be putting a different pulley on which'll up the power a bit and possibly move it down the rev range slightly if I've understood all I've read correctly but Mark will correct me if I'm wrong. Plus just a gratuitous shot of the instal
  15. Good luck with the search, and the bodily repairs! Vanessa gave us a graphic description Cheers, Mark.
  16. Sounds more like an issue with the system rather than the TC switched off. Either you have mis-matched tyre sizes, wrong sized or they damaged a sensor when fitting.
  17. Wow, check those colours out!
  18. Now what makes me think this is Honda Fat Boy?? Welcome to Z world
  19. good power, what SC are you using?
  20. If it's been looked after I'd have no worries about the mileage for that price, but what would worry me is expensive gearbox repairs looming, brake and suspension costs plus the possibility of electrical gremlins. I bought a really lovely BMW, the only reason (apart from lack lustre power) that I decided to get rid of it was continual electrical bugs, nearly all down to sensors failing. Auto box rebuilds don't come cheap either.
  21. I've got some miles on this set up now and am really enjoying it. Mark asked me the other day if I was enjoying the power. I know the first few times I drove it I just giggled like an idiot when it pushed me back in my seat and flew through to the rev limiter in any gear, but as I said to Mark, I'd have to drive a stock Z now to get a reality check as you get used to the power very quickly ( but you still know it's there when you use it!) Easy to see why people get sucked into the 'power chasing' thing! The new intake noise drowned out the stock exhaust when ever you got on the skinny pedal so a Nismo exhaust was fitted and this has added yet another major grin factor. The car has been faultless and apart from the noise and an ever so slightly delayed fire up it drives like a stock car until you want to play. Fuel consumption is acceptable too as it runs stoich most of the time again until you start pushing it. I can see the argument / appeal of a TT set up as opposed to SC and I do like the idea of that massive midrange kick of torque but I don't think it would suit my driving style at the moment. I love (on my bikes or in the car) putting together a good set of twisties, pushing hard and I really don't think I'd want that kick of torque mid bend when the tyres are already complaining, preferring the power increase linear to the revs. But each to his own Abbey are just waiting for a new pulley for the SC which Mark feels will add another 20+bhp. We're currently running just over 400 at the hubs and 360 odd ft/lb torque, and that was before the Nismo exhaust so maybe that will be worth a few ponies?? So, if anyone has come across this post because they were searching for FI info, my advice would be, if you can afford it, do it! As to whether you go SC or TT, that is going to depend on how you drive. I've not driven a TT so I'm not qualified to comment but having talked to Mark at Abbey who has driven countless TT cars of all flavours, I really don't think they're suited to what I wanted from the car. I can however thoroughly recommend Abbey Motorsport and am very happy with the HKS GT blower
