  1. I know I will probably be shot down in flames for this but I will say it anyway. Have you thought about calling the dealer up and asking whether there is any movement in the price before travelling the 130 miles? I know bargaining is going to be much better when you are there in person willing to do a deal but you could have a long trip only to be told no way. I would drop them a line and say that you have seen it advertised but think for the year it is over priced. You would be willing to travel down but want to know that if you like it etc etc etc there is room for negotiation. If you get a firm no way! atleast you know what you are dealing with. Let the onslaught begin.
  2. Ok, I know that Eibach springs will lower the car around 30mm and Tein S speings will drop it 17mm front and 14mm back but is there anything in between? Bit worried by the Eibachs as don't want any rubbing / scraping and also already had a few garages struggle to get jacks under the car but 14mm on front doesn't seem to be enough. Also, anyone know what I would be looking at cost wise to have a garage fit them?
  3. Yeah, I tend to agree. Will give it the week Grnet suggested and see how I feel then. IF still unsure, wll get the Z caps and have them sprayed.
  4. Yeah, fair point, rtbiscuit is probably right, I didn't think about it that way
  5. Those wheels look massive!! Fancy lowering mine a little but not really sure whether 30mm with Eibachs is a bit much for me.
  6. That still seems pretty high to me. Like I say, I would be shocked but quite happy to be proved wrong.
  7. You sure they weren't using that special BP 100+ Octane race fuel that they sell at like, 8 select petrol stations near race courses? Not trying to start an argument, but I seriously doubt that Super gives you that much more over normal. Maybe 10-15 but not 40. I thought the main benefits of super were slightly cleaner and better additives for the engine, and a little more power. No way that super gives 40-50 bhp improvement, I would be shocked if it even gave 10.
  8. I don't know about Fareham but I am really pleased with the job done in Birmingham. Their website actually states somewhere that if you are not happy they will do the wheels again for free and they offer 12 months guarantee. One piece of advice, get an online quote and then call them. I found a company over the road that offered a deal of £50 per wheel which included stripping tyres and refitting, told the wheel specialist that and the quote dropped by over £120 immediately. Reckon I could have got a bit more off it I had been even more cheeky.
  9. The price is a little high for the year but that is good mileage, obviously I have not seen the car. I would definately go in with a lower price, as my Dad always said, "If you don't ask, you don't get". The worst they can say is no but gives room for negotiation. If you are buying from a garage, it will all depend how much money they owe on the car and how long they have had it. The garage where I bought mine has had a Z on the forecourt for around 6 months now and every now and then, they take £500 off the price, I am sure now they just want rid of it.
  10. To be honest, you are not going to see a massive increase in MPG, at best you may see enough to balance out the additional cost. The car was designed to run on super so it is worth doing it anyway, just don't look at it as a cost saving. I have signed up to a site that I found on Money Saving Expert which provides details of which companies are selling it the cheapest within a set radius of a post code that you set which has been useful. I have seen a difference of up to 7p per litre from petrol stations within a 5 mile radius of my home. I now tend to fill up at Sainsburys which is currently at 132.9 in my area (cheaper than what some stations are selling unleaded for). May only save you a few quid each fill up but as I drive past the station once per week anyway, I make a point of using it.
  11. Yeah I had seen them but the backing is still "rays silver" which is what I am not sure of. If they where the same colour as the spokes (smoked chrome) or even the same shade of silver as the outer rim then think they would match a little better. I am sure the place that sprayed them would do me a pretty good deal, if not free, to spray the centre caps.
  12. Thanks mate. Only thing I am not totally sure about are the centre caps. May have to get them sprayed in the smoked Chrome aswell, what do you think?
  13. As many of you may know, I have been looking to upgrade the standard alloys to a set of Rays for a little while now. Not wanting to pay a fortune for a set, I posted on here and managed to get a full set, it pretty good condition for a very fair price last Thursday, thanks Martin W!! I arranged for a courier to collect the next day and on Monday they turned up with me at 8am. Although I could have got them straight onto the car as the slight imperfections were not too bad, I really wanted something different in terms of colour and finish. I had toyed with the idea of having them Black but had gone off that idea. Having seen Wasso's wheels, anthracite seemed like a possibility but couldn't quite make up my mind. Having searched a few threads, I stumbled across one from helimeddaz and loved what the wheel specialist had done for him so decided to go down a similar route. Wait, no that's a lie, I decided to rip off exactly what he had done, minus the polished inner rim. Took some pics to the Wheel Specialist in Birmingham and explained what I was after. Also had a few PMs with helimeddaz as wasn't sure whether I was doin the right thing. Well, that was until today when I went to collect them and have the tyres swapped and the wheels put on the car. Love them!!! Here are some pics and No, I didn't wash the car first. lol
  14. I read quite a bit on the forum and then went to Alex who recommended sticking with the Nissan stuff.
  15. Welcome to the forum. 3 months!! where have you been!
  16. Mine is badly scratched and wondered whether anyone has painted it themselves or had this done for them?
  17. Will have a set of standard alloys (not Rays) available in a few days time if you are interested in them. They would need a little bit of work on them as there is a little bit of laquer peel and bubbling around the valve. PM if you are interested.
  18. There is a load of information in the exhaust threads that give an indication of sounds etc. From the research I did, thinking along the same lines as you, I found that the Miltek was going to be about the best in terms of quality and apparently only slightly loader than stock. The cheapest I found it for was £886 including fitting via demon tweaks (found on fleabay) That said, after hearing a few other exhaust set ups, I am planning on sticking with with stock but upgrade Y pipe and maybe fit HFCs to improve the sound and flow. You should be able to pick up a used OEM mid section and back box for around £100 if you wanted to go down that route. A XYZ pipe can be bought new for around £400 (from the states) or there are cheaper options from around £200 if you wanted something else. Berks HFCs are around £400 (think Abbey have an offer on) or Kinetix are slightly cheaper. It is worth meeting up with a few members to listen to their exhausts so that you can find the best set up to meet your needs.
  19. Maybe. I have loaded the wheels into the car just! (2 in the front and 2 in the back) and will go to the wheel specialist tomorrow with a copy of the post to see what they say. Will get a chance to see some of the finishes before deciding.
  20. They do look very nice but as I say, not seen that finish in the flesh so don't know whether it will look "too chromey" if you know what I mean. Also would be worried about polished lip as I know some struggle to stop them rusting. Really like your anthracite wheels but to avoid them being to dark on mine, thought that a lighter silver outer lip would look good also.
  21. Ok, called the wheel specialist and they are willing to reduce the price to bring things in line with the other company I found (across the road from each other). They are both really handy as I drive past them everyday on the way to work. Now just got to decide on what colour to go for. How do you think this type of finsih would look on a gunmetal car? viewtopic.php?f=61&t=50351 not seen this colour in the flesh but pics look very nice. I wouldn't go with a polished rim (maybe standard chrome or silver) Other options are anthracite or hyper silver. any views?
  22. They look awesome, do you think they would suit a gunmetal 350z?
  23. Spotted at around 4:10pm on Aston Expressway heading towards the motorway heading out of Birmingham. Pulled alongside me and got a thumbs up before turning off onto M6.
