  1. Evening all, During a recent repair, i had two bushes replaced on the 'banana' wishbone, i went to the garage so i could have a nosey, perhaps a bad idea as i saw some...rust!! arrrggh there is a brace that sits under/over (depends on your perspective) in a large kind of 'U' shape, crossing the exhaust mid pipe, its rusty and i wanted to give it a spruce up, also the subframe is showing some signs of rust but seems in otherwise good condition. Lastly the scuff plastic shield beneath the engine bay is a mess, found its hanging on by two bolts and one tye-wrap..with two bolts sheared off...some muppet before me has let it fall to bits. So best way to treat the rusty areas and perhaps a replacement scuff plate? Ideas and thoughts always appreciated Down with rust!
  2. where did you get your HFC's from?
  3. i fitted the K2, a little too muted when taking it easy, but it does sound great when the gas is pressed, i only got the rear silencer and mid pipe, getting the Y pipe and maybe de-cat pipes, or high flow cats later on, i expect it will get louder then!
  4. are there any springs that don't lower the car but improve over OEM ? I live in the countryside, if i lowered the car more than it is, i'd loose the underside, the roads around here are appalling!
  5. where did you get the LED lights from? im after some, but hopefully the dark/smoked variety... cheers
  6. can i hand my car over to you for the same treatment?
  7. wd40 is just good for helping with potential rust issues, silicon grease, copper grease, duck oil etc ...thats the good stufff
  8. these are for my rear tyres, i mentioned what the engineer found at the garage ref the rears, along with everyone's input on this thread, seems the best way to go
  9. Well i argued with myself (i do this often) and thought, well crappy Norfolk country roads, covered in tractor mud, winter coming....do i want to buy budget and maybe turn my 350z into a convertible by rolling it...or do i want some confidence....soooo i bought 2 Pirelli P Zero's Hopefully this will solve the droning AND help me stay alive this winter!
  10. thanks for the camskill link, seems i can save £60 already on Pirelli P Zero's !
  11. i had this problem too, but managed to vanish by itself, but since reading this ive sprayed duck oil on it, as WD40 is only water dispersal...hence the WD part of the name! i havent had the problem again since
  12. My last car was a BMW 328 coupe, that is my bench mark for handling and gearchange, i find the 350z a little heavy...in a nice way, but i hate the way 2nd gear is very notchy, makes a clean fast getaway tough......but im told this is normal for this car.... i have changed the diff oil, now i'll try the gear box, i hope it has the same effect as you described
  13. well the rear tyres, one is an Avon, which is near the worn marker and the other is a good Continental, one is rated stiff, the other soft......at this point i bet a few of you are saying 'ahhhhhh bingo' ... so was talking at getting new tyres with the local garage, he can get me two Pirelli zero's for 196 a piece, which is way less than the list price.... tried the driving side to side method, which had no effect, only gets louder when going faster. car in the garage monday for two 'banana' wishbone bushes, he's gonna take it for a drive, as he builds track cars and services ferraris, i hope he's the man to find the issue! cheers all
  14. Thanks, thats a plan then, would certainly put my mind at ease well as easily as £300 worth of new tyres makes me feel hehe
  15. i changed the diff oil recently, was gloopy but free of anything metallic.....so i'll do th bearing test and look at gettlin Falkens which seem pretty well rated in here.. thanks again
  16. Thanks for the advice, i will look into getting two new MATCHING tyres! hopefully its just uneven road noise and wear, like you suggested, its more an irritant than a problem, as im sure with everyone, as soon as you tune into a rattle or a unusual noise, you fear the worst. Just curious to what a worn diff would sound like? but for 40k miles, it would have to have been massacred on a track somewhere! I'll keep the forum updated. Many thanks
  17. does it have a dimming function for night driving? i had a kenwood HU once, at night it blinded me!
  18. will do, thanks for the suggestions, gladly give it a go
  19. correction, 40mph turns! would a worn diff make this sort of noise you think? its only 42k miles...
  20. This is true, 50mph turns here, hmmm, this might up a very expensive check lol , although i do have an RAF airfield to play with, just gotta keep an eye out for the coppers!
  21. well the two rear tyres are in good condition but different makes, some muppet before me fitted one budget one decent, so thats on the cards to change, I'l give the swaying a try, but in Norfolk there's scant few roads to do that at 40mph...40mph and your car is shaking like a drug addict with only diet coke as a drug, the roads are appalling here!!
  22. I've looked for a while to settle this issue, but thought i'd ask again.. Does the 350z above this speed develop a droning sound, kind of like an old world war 2 engine in the distance, increases with speed, is it typical for this car as i notice there's little insulation at the back end. Should i worry ? wheel bearing? diff ? (argh!) Recently had a japspeed K2 exhaust, the droning was the same. The sound doesnt go when i push the clutch in, so its not at the engine side at least. Any thoughts or suggestions would be very much appreciated. Cheers!
  23. also curious was the slight smell of 'burning paper' coming from the front end during the dyno, ive noticed it before under hard acceleration, any suggestions? the engineer thought it was either an aged aux belt or maybe leaves caught in the heat shield......the smell is almost pleasant, so i cant think of mechanicals or electrical burning cos that stinks!
  24. I recently fitted the back box and mid pipe of the K2, although it looks very nice, it is a rather too muted for my liking, I put it on the dyno too, i managed 258Bhp at the wheels....is this pretty normal?
