  1. After scouring the threads for actual power gains for various intakes, im probably more confused than before. 1/ i was led to believe that the stock intake is about as good as it gets. 2/ some threads claim average of 10-15bhp with kits like K&N Typhoon, Apexi Power etc I know manufacturers always give amazing claims, but would really like real world honest figures Anyone here care to give their experiences? this will help me decide on whether to get a kit or not. Cheers!
  2. Got my plenum spacer kit from Jez today along with some new aux belts. Jez even threw in a lollypop! now thats customer service!
  3. as for which bearing, its best take it to your garage which will use a stethoscope to listen, it was obvious which of mine was broken...and yes quick fix, get Zaman to send you a bearing....wish i did this to start with!
  4. either i have a fault or they came out of the factory in a lot of different outputs!
  5. that doesnt actually sound too bad, will just have to budget that, then there's the timing belt removal, then the cams, valves, buckets, etc to be removed and re-fitted before the actual porting and polishing...is it really worth it i ask? then when i go for a drive, i say YES...then think and say maybe...grrrr, why arent i rich?
  6. it feels pretty smooth, but i have noticed at slow speeds, its like it almost jerks now and then...im not sure if thats just the crappy Norfolk roads or my imagination! but after seeing how awkward access is to the spark plugs, this compression test might get pricey!
  7. well the dyno graph seems pretty smooth, so i guess i'll find out on thursday when i get it checked!
  8. i get that when i cane it, the guys at Surrey Rolling Road think its the manifolds,
  9. thanks for the links btw, enlightened me thoroughly! im still thinking of getting a second hand low milage cylinder block and getting it ported and polished, but most seem to think its an engine removal job, other say its better to get an aftermarket cyclinder block already polished...hmmmmm any of you chaps removed the engine?
  10. stop hijacking my thread with anal abuse hehe
  11. ive not seen a compression test before, is it something gauged, do you get a specific reading? or is a pass/fail type test? cheers
  12. I'm getting my 2004 Zed compression tested as i am quite a bit down on power, but i don't knbow where to find the figures that i should be expecting. If there is a problem, what's the likely cause? piston rings? the vavles? Cheers
  13. so many ideas, not so much money to do it! getting a compression test this week as its down on power. I'll ask about engine out, see if its feasible moneywise, any ideas how much this would cost generally...i know every garage is different
  14. depends on money ! i dont wanna stick forced induction on an engine thats leaking! im getting a compression test next week
  15. i hate thinking im hijacking this thread, but ive got HKS fast road cams and Stillen headers to go with the porting, now back to the super main thread
  16. how long does it take to get the cylinder blocks removed? im about to get mine ported and polished, just want an idea how to budget for man hours cheers great thread by the way
  17. well using 95 must be a fair old loss on horsepower even on the 370?
  18. take a look at some piston heads of a 350z that's been regularly run on 95, you'll soon change your mind!
  19. just dot be tempted to use a crappy battery powered soldering iron from Maplins, all it did was get stuck to the wires when it decided to switch off half way through melting the solder! did my best stripping the wires and twisting them together, then insulating them with tape, should work, there's no real current in the wires. Fitting it to my car tomorrow, wish me luck!
  20. i had EXACTLY the same, it was a banana arm bush, the drop links make more of a 'bang'...ive had both issues solved
