  1. Not sure if anyone noticed but Farage is back in as leader of UKIP... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Of course a drift car will be performance over style...I would be surprised if anyone went the other way - however on here with peoples 'pride and joys' all I ever see with regards to exhausts are the sounds, hell there was even a thread arguing if single exit or dual exit looked better and influencing purchasing decisions. The percentage uplift is useful and another way of expressing the actual BHP uplift, my point stands that is that peak gain is not particularly useful if you are wanting to gauge your uprev performance.
  3. In terms of area under the graph, yes that is true it gives you an even truer representation of what you have gained but that wasn't the issue - the question was why are the print outs showing peak power gain, my point was if showing a single figure that you want to interpret then average gain is more useful. In terms of area under the graph is it 'day to day useful' - can someone understand '8bhp gain on average across the range' easier than 'total area gain of 125bhp2' as an output, I would say in most instances they can. Its by no means the most accurate way to report it but its the most usable. When presenting data its often good to present quartiles, max, min along with some sort of score on the middle ground such as mean or median, all covered in your GCSE course. Your big arches were performance mods were they...? Maybe you are a departure from the norm then and somewhat of an outlier but most people that post on asking about exhausts invariably want to know what they sound like before buying, which indicates it not all about performance.
  4. Bingo! I wasn't having a dig, I am a consumer researcher with a statistics degree, so am annoyingly finikety with how data is presented
  5. misses out 75% of the numbers? I dont understand this Coldel? Sorry yes not a very good description! The scale runs from 800 to 1100 making the gap look big when in fact it is quite small, the same goes for the BHP it starts at 50, if you start it from 0 then you 'visually' see the true difference. Appreciate though that this helps reading the charts easier. Just in terms of what your remap gets you, I think everyone quotes 15-20bhp when in fact a more truer read is the average across the range (would be a nice number to have calculated on the software).

Cheers mate, I do have to pinch myself regularly to realise that I have been so lucky to pick up a great example Probably going to put on the tein springs in the next month or so...doesnt really need coilovers, its just had a whole new suspension set up put in so seems a shame to replace it so soon.
  7. Used it on mine, rears were quite easy with a little bit of heat. Here is mine with it on the back

To be honest other than a plenum spacer thats all you need, should be good for 15-20bhp increase
  9. Absolutely, there is no point in considering an exhaust purely for performance, which is why the exhaust note is so important when purchasing - same for induciton - I think the given knowledge is that the standard box is the best for performance yet everyone likes to switch to something else just for the noise.
  10. My point though is that when people say they get 15bhp from a remap they often refer to the max gain, the average gain is often quite a lot less. Hence the placebo effect. Have to be wary also of the visual impact of the charts, the curve on the left for instance misses out 75% of the numbers, the difference is actually relatively small. Although the cost of the remap is relatively small you could say i.e. £350+ most people spend around £1000 on an exhaust, induction kit etc to get that 8bhp extra on average across the range.
  11. Ha! Surely the bit you are really looking forwards to!
  12. Found mine! Packed away on photobucket...so my point is really that between 1500 and 4000 revs you are seeing a much lower gain in BHP, if anyone thinks they can feel more power on a 250bhp car because they have gained 5bhp at 2000 revs they clearly have super senses in their backside All the gains happen much higher up the range, it did flatten out a dip around 5300 revs though. Average gain over the whole curve, at a guess 10bhp? At the most used lower end a bit less.

Some more pics, had a nice drive out this morning. Also confirmed booking on 26th at TGM to sort the bonnet out so happy days. Definitely needs a little drop on the ride height...
  14. And to think red doesnt always come out great on camera, so this must look even better up close. Outstanding effort Darren, still in awe of people that have the ability to pull cars apart and put them back together again!
  15. 837k is well above the statistically valid sample size for the UK population, with a 98% confidence level and 2% margin of error. I get your point about the conclusion I have drawn from the numbers, but if it was "untrue there is any correlation" why would the press bother front paging election coverage? Sample size is irrelavant if the question is asked badly or the framing is wrong - the Greens and Liberals have policies which are in lots of respects very pretty policies but would bankrupt the country if put into play - so of course blind voting on policies will always go for the more people/environment orientated policies. As for the sample size of 800 odd thousand, that sounds like something done for free, online, in some space where millions of people go i.e. facebook, which already biases the results as you are not getting a representation of those who dont use facebook regularly - so how much stimulus could you have given people to answer the question correctly and remain engaged? Probably 30 seconds worth? Thats hardly representing the policies fully of each party. Unless I can see how this question is asked to be quite brutally honest with you the data is worthless, despite the sample size.
  16. So its going to be red...? What you up to sunday morning mate? Am going out for a drive and wouldnt mind popping by...
  17. I don't object to cuts to public sector funding per se and I certainly understand that there would still have been cuts had the Tories not got in. I am however concerned that the cuts under the Tories will be so severe that services will suffer, be it education, justice (my area of work) or services in any number of other areas of life that people rely on. I've already seen the department I run reduce in size by more than half since the recession began. Any more and we simply won't be able to deliver the work. I feel equally for people in the private sector (my other half works for a private company). It's not been easy for most people in recent years and I doubt it's going to get much better for a good while yet, despite all the political rhetoric. Lots of private sector companies took cuts as well, job loses, spending cuts - the government generally did nothing unusual in terms of how the private sector had to react to the downturn in the economy. Lots of people (myself included) are now doing two jobs not one.
  18. My import says GT4, therefore conclusion is that you are driving around in a Nissan Cube
  19. Al Murrays face when the tories beat Farage in Thanet...brilliant https://www.youtube....h?v=xuzlKi-5qFE
  20. TME what a piece of machinery that is
  21. Absolutely, but as Ekona says elsewhere, cant believe there isnt one of parties any citizen couldnt side with on the most part with regard to major policies. Labelling them, all as bad as each other, with respect to delivering what they promise is also probably fair comment, but surely someone would prefer a particular party to not be delivering on all of those promises, than another party in government whos policies they dont agree with? I would imagine there are people in teh Russell Brand camp but it wont be all of them, probably the minority, others are probably just not interested (who says you HAVE to be interested in politics and put brain power into deciding who to vote for), just forgot, had other plans or just felt that even though they do support the Green party whats the point in voting for them in say Richmond where it counts for nothing. I think of it like football possession vs goals - although UKIP got loads of votes, in two years time a lot of that will be forgotten, all that will count and all that people will remember is the final score and that is seats in Parliament.
  22. Cat C is that the cost to repair the damage is more expensive than the value of the car, Cat D is that its less but the insurance company may make the decision to declare it a write off - its nothing to do with the type of damage purely cost of repair vs value of car. Plenty of Cat C VX220s out there simply because new panels are horrifically expensive and a simple scrape along a wall whilst parking badly at 5mph can Cat C the car. It really depends on the value of the car and the cost of the parts to replace.
  23. Highest turn out in 20 odd years or something I heard. Not sure of the exact number. I actually dont have a problem with people not voting - a democracy should allow for people to be free to make a decision to vote or not as much as they are free to vote for who they want. The current system doesnt really encourage voting though, I almost didnt bother yesterday given that I am in a tory stronghold, no chance of anyone else winning.
  24. No one wanted Labour+SNP (and to be fair EM knew that so pushed back against sturgeon in the debate) which I imagine pushed people towards the Tories. Was bizarre decision to go with Ed back when the leadership was decided, if you want to blame anyone, blame those that backed Ed, although who knows what would have happened otherwise. I feel a little bit for Nick Clegg, he was on a hiding to nothing, everyone forgot how well he performed at 2010 and how he kept the Tories in line for five years. Of course he couldnt push through the key policies he was after, his party only had 1 MP for every 6 the Tories have, what did Liberal supporters expect to happen? Typical of Farage to still be in the running of being party leader - despite his man of the people approach there is just something a bit wrong about him I cannot put my finger on (and no its not racism) that just makes me think he is more self centred than any of the other leaders which is saying something.
