  1. "It is with great sadness that this morning I must inform you that the mint green ford focus has been poo'd on by a bird. I have had a quick look around the neighbourhood and there was 2-3 birds that looked a bit guilty, I have issued them with verbal warnings but on this occasion I am not prepared to perform DNA testing." I love that.

  3. My PC is on the way out too. Built it about 5 years ago but starting to show signs of age now, I don't have the cash to build a new one so I have backed it up on an external drive waiting for the inevitable.
  4. Not sure how many people keep an eye on this thread, but I will post it here first before starting a new thread. I was wondering if anyone was travelling to the show to get there early (before it opens to the public) from the London area. If we can get enough of us going, it may be worth going in a group. I'd be leaving about 6am though to get there for approximately half 7.
  5. I'm a rock fan and 99% of the music I listen to is well before my generation. Disc one: I Am Kloot - Sky at Night (my #1 album of 2010) Disc two: Compilation disc - Nirvana, Greenday, Blink-182, Led Zeppelin etc Disc three: Acoustic music, as an acoustic guitar player this has a lot of mostly unknown but fantastic song on. Disc four: Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon Disc five: Classic rock compilation disc - Pink Floyd, Deep Purple etc Disc six: Beatles compilation disc Disc one is listened to most though. I've probably listened to the whole album in excess of 100 times now:lol:.
  6. Welcome. You will soon learn a huge amount on this forum. Everyone is helpful and there's always someone who knows the answer to a question.
  7. I'm interested too. I read in the first post you could do them with the Tommy K symbol, any pictures of that one? What's the turnaround speed on a stainless steel, 350z one? Cheers!
  8. God I hope you're not bald, you'll wake up one day and wonder why your head is squeaky .
  9. I've been looking at a few new gear knobs for the zed. I quite like the original but if I can find something that I like I may go for something new. This thread is to really ask, one what do you all have so I can see what it is like next to the standard interior and two, has anyone seen these ones on eBay? They are "Nismo Style" knobs but you can get it etched to your liking with 3-4 characters, perfect to have 350z etched onto it. Small: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/JDM-Garage-Small- ... 20ac8c6228 Large: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/JDM-Garage-Large- ... 2302be909a So let's see what you have to get me started. Price no issue .
  10. Nice work, I must say I'm the same as your boss, I hate thinks not looking their best. Wild guess, I'm guessing your boss is a Porsche driver?
  11. I think if I was to get rid of the zed in the future (not a chance of that happening yet!) I would get an M3. Good luck on the sale.
  12. Gorgeous car, enjoy it. I have wondered a few times, do you think they went for that style bonnet on purpose so when they do a facelift version they can put a bulge style bonnet on it? I was going up the M4 a while back and a black 370 was behind me, they look pretty aggressive .
  13. After looking at it today, I've decided they will stay on. They set the wheels off well.
  14. Cheers all. It's pretty surprising how much of a difference using the polisher made. Unfortunately it is going back ASAP as it has packed up working. Checked the fuse etc but no joy. I found a tiny dent in the drivers door today. It is smaller than a 5p coin and its hardly noticeable, but in the sun it can be seen .
  15. What time will you be needed someone to hand out the passes? I have a good 1.5 hour journey so will be wanted to get away before any problems on the M4, so I may be available if no one else is able to.
  16. I do love the look of TVR's. Are they really as prone for braking down as people say? Also, I didn't realise how low the TVR was, but putting it next to the TVR, it's like a go-cart .
  17. The original wheelcaps on the rays were peeling slightly and had seen better days. I took someone here up on an offer for some new ones. They aren't an exact paint match(not the sellers fault at all). I put them on and thought they looked odd, but after doing all four I'm divided, in some ways they really set the wheels off but I can't seem to get used to them, maybe because they are different. Thoughts? Before: After: Unfortunately, I didn't take any shots from a distance, but this one may help: Cheers .
  18. I spent most of Saturday testing out some new kit on my parents cars, mainly because I didn't want to play with the new Kestral DAS6 on the Zed first . My mum drives a Green Peugeot 307, nothing special but could look nice if looked after... which is isn't. I found half a beach on the wheel arches, sand stones and mud which I managed to get rid of with a combination of Snowfoam, elbow grease and the pressure washer. I wish I took photos of the work on that car as I was pretty surprised about the results (as was my mum). I managed to get rid of a lot of scratches as swirl marks caused by all the usual suspects. So, after practising, I mean doing the parents a favour, it was time for the Zed. I've taken pictures as much as I could, but needed to get on so missed a few. Pictures were taken on an iPhone, they came out pretty good considering. Products used all in Blue. I started off using my Snowfoam & Lance (care of Tim at Envy). Pictures were taken after 10 minutes or so, so most had drained off the car. Proof the stuff works, pulled loads of grime off the wheels and body: Rinsed it off quickly with the pressure washer. Washed with my wool mitt using the two bucket method. I used Autoglym Bodywork Shampoo Conditioner. Quick rinse off and thought as I would be polishing I would give it a good going over with some clay. Using a Turtle Wax Refine & Shine Clay Bar I did the bonnet first. Here is what came off after only half the bonnet: I spent a good hour or more claying, I was quite surprised as the amount of grime that came off, but I do live on busy road and the driveway needs to be done so it is fairly muddy at the moment. What happens when you drop 1/4 of a bar on the floor and loose your rag: Time for the wheels, probably the dirtiest part of the car. I plan to take them off before Japfest and give them a really good going over. Two need to be refurbished due to kerb marks done by the previous owner, but I won't be able to get them done before the meet. I used Autoglym Custom Wheel Cleaner for this job. Sprayed it on and agitated with an alloy wheel brush and left for a few minutes to cut into the dirt. Rinsed off the wheels and the rest of the car, used some microfibre towels I got from eBay to dry the car. They were about £6 each and one does the whole car, but two speeds up the job nicely. I then gave a quick going over with a microfibre cloth on the wheels. Then used Smartwax Rimwax and dressed the tyres using Turlewax Tyre Dressing. Makes them black, but not sticky looking. Windows cleaned with RainX cleaner & rain replant. So, now for the long haul, Polishing. I didn't expect wonders and took it fairly easy for the first go on the Zed. You can see the old owner concentrated on the bonnet, boot and the front wings heavily when washing because that was were all the swirl marks were. I managed to get rid of some which was a result. I tried to take pictures but they were difficult to capture. I used my Kestral DAS6 and a 3m Yellow pad. I used Menzerma Power Finish but I think something with more cut would have been better or quicker. Either way, I got the results in the end, they just took a while . Finished off using Dodo Juice Blue Velvet Wax Shiny! If I remember, I will give it a quick once over with some Dodo Juice Red Mist before work tomorrow. In the end it was about 4 hours of work. I haven't done the interior as by the time I had finished with the exterior, I had some nasty sunburn . This is my last full weekend off before Japfest, with only a couple of weekdays off here and there, so I needed to get it as nice as possible now, so I can give it a quick going over the day before. I am pretty chuffed with the results, except that my polisher has packed up, hopefully just the fuse, but if not, it's going back. Not impressed . Pete
  19. The week I got my Zed my dad had an accident in his car and was using my mums for work. I drove round theirs and offered to loan mine to my mum for a week as I was off work, she turned the offer down and I must say I was quite relieved, she has a very heavy right foot and I could see her having my car towed away . On the other hand, while at work the other day I got speaking to a girl around the corner from my office who owns a 2005 zed, it was immaculately kept, not a scratch on it anywhere. She was talking about it like anyone here, does over 10000 miles a year and had just finished polishing & waxing it when we spoke, my God I fell in love that day . End result, taken .
  20. Sealey are a good brand of tool. I used to sell Sealey products before making a complete career change. They sell stuff of the same standard of Draper all the way through very high end specialist tools. Whilst I can't vouch for their polishers, their automotive products were very good and I rarely if ever had faulty or useless products being returned.
  21. OMG that had be actually laughing out loud at near 3am waking up the house. Do a few more and see how far you can get them to go .
  22. How did you manage to get the Youtube video to embed on the forum?
  23. Get the pictures up! I may have to take a few days off work and make the long road trip up that way (from London). Would be nice to get away regardless.
