  1. Got mine today Cookbot. I will probably wait until Sunday or Monday to give it a go so I can use the updated guide you are working on .
  2. You forgot to post the link .

    O M F G

Yup a very special car. The salesman threw the keys at me when I turned up and said you wont regret it. I also took it easy, I felt like I was like doing my driving test again . I must say, I haven't experienced the clunky feel from 1st to 2nd some speak of, either I'm lucky or my driving style just covers it up, however others will come and give you more advice on this. Again, others will give you far better advice regarding the servicing orders. The upside of a dealer is that if they sell you something that isn't what it should, you have a lot more protection, but obviously you dont need that hassle. If it is a goer, hurry up and buy it!
  4. Thanks for the reply. I probably wont have time to do it until Saturday/Sunday when I am on day shifts after doing late shifts during weekdays. After re-re-reading, when you do some new pictures, could you show where you glue it? Not too sure about that bit either .

    Rant

I remember when I worked in a garage on Saturdays as a teenager to make some pocket money, nothing special but did learn how to service a car properly and do basic mechanical repairs. One day we had a guy come in and say that he wired in a new stereo a few weeks before and it had started to go funny. Thinking it was probably a dodgy connection one of the guys pulled it out to find it had been wired in by getting the copper wires and simply twisting them into the other wire then wrapped in sellotape .
  6. I took out the additional cover. I never bothered when I was with MoreThan but as Admiral was so cheap I thought what the heck. Mind you, £400 so still half of what I pay .
  7. Reading another thread I can see a lot of people hate uninsured drivers (as do I). They are one of the main reasons why our premiums are so high. It is estimated that 1 in 12 cars on the road are uninsured, that is about 1.7 million cars. So, I thought some of you may be interested in how London Met deal with uninsured drivers (maybe other forces do to). It hits people hard and they usually end up in court. However, what a lot of people don't realise now though, as a recent sticky on this forum highlights is that failure to declare modifications can result in a policy being void. Modifications can be difficult for the average person to see, however if a police officer pops the bonnet and a V6 engine is in the place of a 1200cc engine in a VW Golf they will know. So here is what happens: * Car stopped after check is done & flashes no insurance. Checks can be done in many ways all of which give the same result. * Driver is questioned regarding their policy/lack of policy. Sometimes it takes a day or two for the national computer to update. * Driver is asked questions such as company name, date policy was taken out, cost etc. Police can call an insurance database (Motor Insurance Bureau - MIB) and can find if a vehicle is insured regardless if it is on the national computer yet. * If all checks out away the driver goes on their way. If not the following then happens: * On the spot £200 fixed notice for no insurance which carries 6 points. Courts can increase this. * Car is seized there and then, even if someone who is insured is available to remove the car for the driver. Seizure costs around £120. * Car is impounded at a cost of £20 a day from midnight the day the car was seized for a maximum of 7 days. To get their car back the driver/owner must attend the impound lot and have on them: * Full driving license * MOT certificate * Proof of insurance * Tax (if it didn't have it) * And I believe also the log book If the car is not recovered after 7 days, the car is recycled and cost of doing so is sent to the owner. Total costs: 6 points + £200 for the fine + £120 for removal costs + £140 for 7 days storage = £460 not including cost to crush car & cost of car in the first place The thing is, whilst it doesn't sound a lot, the chances of getting caught again are going up, as the technology is so easy and more people are willing to pay the bill for the equipment to help various authorities. Whilst I doubt anyone on this forum drives uninsured, don't allow your modifications catch you out and make sure your family & friends are fully aware. If anything, I find it quite interesting how the process works and how it has changed from a simple ticket to the chance of having a car taken away completely. Pete
  8. Heh, I read it that women between 17-25 will see it go up by 25% and men can see it come down by approximately 10%, but we all know that probably won't happen. A little off topic but friend at word was telling me a few days ago her 17 year old son's quote for a T reg 1.2 Corsa... £6000. No word of a lie. I managed to get it down to £4500 by letting her know the usual tricks (parents on policy etc). I think a third party only policy was about £3200. I've only been driving 5 years or so since I was 18 but my first car cost me £700 to insure.
  9. I'm by no means an expert but in my opinion 10k for a 2003 import seems a heck of a lot. It is pretty immaculate and had a few modifications made but for the same money you could be getting a newer UK car. I must say, the advert sounds like a caveman wrote it . There are a few cars for sale from members of this forum with mods and all, have a look.
  10. Not any more (well soon to come, the one thing from the EU I actually like the sound of . Did anyone see the Traffic Cops episode showing the old boy who drove down the motorway the wrong way? Scary . I do find the stereotypical female drivers jokes quite funny, mainly as I hear a lot of the stereotypical man jokes at work from my female colleagues .I must say though, the best driver I know is a female .
  11. I have one bad chip that is right down to bare metal near the front nearside headlight. Might have to look at this stuff also I guess.
  12. Mines on the way also I can't wait to get it working. I'm 99% sure of what I'm doing...
  13. Stupid iPhone. I literally spent from 7pm to 9pm looking for this so I don't waste peoples time starting a new thread . Thanks again guys. Very good guide just one question: How do I know which wire gets soldered where?
  14. I have searched everywhere and can't find a guide showing how to do the Bose stereo mod to get an iPod working through the tape deck via some clever soldering. The only guide I came across was from the US 350z forum from a post about 6 years old, of which is pretty useless as all the pictures are gone. (http://my350z.com/forum/audio-and-video ... guide.html). I looked though the 7 pages of guides on this forum but can't find one. If it matters, a lot of the final result pictures I have seen are from 2003-2006 cars whereas mines a 57, not sure if that matters, but I don't want to rip out the interior to find it isn't doable . If someone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. PS a new head unit isn't an option . Pete
  15. I was always pretty unsure of parking sensors and wondered what their reliability was like. My zed came with them and I use them all the time. I actually find reverse parking easier in the zed than in my old Fiesta but gauging how far back I can go can be a pain at times. I was going to install a reverse camera but doubt I'd ever use it now.
  16. Mine of course . Some professional racing cars with the custom paintwork are stunning though.
  17. Just posted something to make it more shiney too. Thanks again.
  18. Thanks for the reply. I'm slowly building up a car cleaning kit so only want stuff I know I'll use, the way the lines of the zed works I will probably use it a lot .
  19. Welcome, I have NEVER EVER seen a VX220 on the road before. I saw one when they first came out in a shopping centre as a raffle prize and I think that was it. Always wondered what they were like. If I remember rightly, they were aimed to compete with the Elise? You wont regret getting a zed though , I don't maybe if we have another repeat of this winter but hey only 7-8 months to go . The world is your oyster when looking for a pre-2006 car and you can afford to be very picky. There are a lot for sale at the moment and if you come across a dog there is usually another two around the corner. Good luck and don't forget, we want pictures!
  20. Long shot but hey ho let's see, I spent a fair while yesterday washing the car, dressing the tyres and in my opinion getting the best shine I have ever managed to get on a car. I took it out today and needed to use the washers on the rear windows. When I got home I had the usual watermarks left all over the rear wing. Is there anything out there used as an additive in the washers that help prevent this? I've seen products that can be used while washing a car that helps prevent them so would it be mad to assume there may be something that does the job for the washer jets? I know watermarks are from the minerals left behind when water evaporates, but is there something that works? On a side note, I had a real issue with watermarks when washing the car. I live in an area with pretty hard water. No matter how much I tried when drying they would appear all over the place... "Time To Dry" to fix this?
  21. I refer to mine as a Datsun Cherry. Beats other people to it and then I can blitz them on the way home from work. We had a new guy who genuinely believed I owned a Cherry until i was on my way home .
  22. I have a 57 313GT and love it. I picked the one I got for a few reasons though and didn't just get as it was a newer one. I was really picky about the colour I wanted (Twilight/Midnight Blue) and wanted a car that was newer than my old one (06). I like the look of the older models (it was those that made me want a 350z in the first place). In all honesty, I didn't even know there was a different looking Zed until I started doing my research into buying one so even if I got an older pre-facelift one I would have been happy. The reason I got the one I wanted though was to me it looked a lot prettier, however I think the pre-facelift ones are more aggressive and "mean" looking . I could deal with the extra VEL cost and upkeep costs which is why I budgeted for one. If I was to buy another Zed to go with my current one, it would be a facelift Roadster over the pre-facelift version.
  23. I try not to call mine Zed as all I can think of is Pulp Fiction, a motorcycle and a gimp .
  24. Added & attending Will be fun parking mine up with other members else and seeing how shinier everyone else's is .
