  1. Thanks for this post. As long as all goes well tomorrow I will have my Zed and I would like to get involved as much as work allows.
  2. Sounds like fun. Can't wait to be doing the same thing when I pick up mine.
  3. I have found one more which I hope to see tomorrow. It's a large second hand dealership who will part exchange my car which is a necessity as we already have 4 cars in the drive at the moment an can't add a fifth. Edit: Holding deposit put down. If all goes well and everything checks out, it will be mine on Wednesday! Typical though, Admiral's website is now down until 6:30am tomorrow lol.
  4. Just to let him know really. I emailed him via AutoTrader and said I may be interested. I called him to say that I was no longer interested.
  5. I spoke to the owner of the import today. He's a doctor who only uses it on weekends and had had it for a year or so. He's after a Ferarri and needs rid of it. I wished him luck on the sale and said it wasn't for me. Nice guy but I want a standard UK.
  6. I wouldn't have expected anyone to do that for me . I'll start the thread on Monday as that's the day I find out if the one which has been reserved is gone or not. It's only 2 miles away from me which hurts all the more! I'd be really gutted if it's sold. Thanks again.
  7. Sounds good, I'll let the guy know tomorrow when he calls me. There's only one more blue 350z within 40 miles of me and that has been reserved already. In fact, the only other one I can find which is of a good price is in Manchester and I don't fancy driving 3+ hours to look at a car . I think I'm going to be waiting a few months now .
  8. Not sure what to do about this one. I wasn't sure on it but figured I will go to have a look. The thing is though, I want a totally standard UK model.
  9. That's what I'm going to do. I didn't want to be rude to the guys and to be fair they worked out a great finance plan which actually beat my bank. I did get a fair amount of hostility from the guys there though until they realised how much money I had to put down and what I do for a living... Typical scene, 23 year old guy walks in to a dealership with tatty jeans and a t-shirt. One of those situations where you wish you could get a wad of £50's out and throw it on the table to see their faces. I never like to put people down but I didn't feel comfortable at all, except one guy seemed pretty decent. I paid that for mine a year ago when it only had 2.5K on it, basically it's like a new car. You need to walk away Peter, something else will always come along. Chances are you will see that one up for 15.5K in a months time when they can't shift it. That's the sort of mileage that should see a couple of new tyres on the rear, otherwise you will shortly be adding another £400 to the price. What was wrong with the other one you went to see for around 15K that you mentioned in your first post without the camera/stereo? Best of luck. The first car I went to see (I haven't posted that link on here though) had 4 bald tyres, no water in the screenwash tank, no water in the radiator tank and some scratches and dinged alloys. It just put me right off. I'm going to see one more tomorrow which is a 2007 "twilight blue" or "midnight blue" depending on where you read it. 5500 miles for £16000. Shame I don't have a 360 Modena to part exchange though lol! Opinions? http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2267405.htm
  10. Well the car was sold today, but not to me. I wasn't able to make it today and something came up which meant going tomorrow wasn't a certainty, but I was too late . Whoever got it will be a very lucky guy because it was a great car for a very good price. I went to look at another car though which was at a Nissan dealership only 10 minutes from me. It has less than 10k on the clock and is a 58 reg. They want £17,000 for it though and will only give me £2000 to part exchange my old car bringing it down to £15,000. It was a stunning car and I have my heart set on the midnight blue model, but not sure if I can stretch my budget from what started at £13,000 to £17,000. Along with their asking price the car needs to be taxed so add £435. They tried to get me to buy an extended 3 year warranty for £1000 plus something for £450 which apparently guarantees a full payout if you write the car off. To be honest, I'm not really sure it is necessary and obviously increases the sale from £17,000 to a whopping £19,000! Whilst it is a stunning car and the colour is pretty rare, £17,000 would be my utter limit. So I guess I carry on waiting and looking...
  11. It would be a shame. Email first, last thing you want to do is pass over a great car to find it was a typo. But obviously, be cautious.
  12. I'm going to look at it on Sunday if my dad is free to come with me (what he doesn't know about buying a car isn't worth knowing). Bit of a longer drive than I expected which is a pain but worth the trip. Quick question though, what would be needed to fix the stereo "issue"?
  13. Send an email and just say could you please confirm the current mileage. It may be an honest mistake.
  14. Really? Are there really any cars produced in the last 20 years that if serviced regularly won't happily do a 100k? Anyway, as you said, the Japs are pretty good at longevity so don't worry. I think you are right. My dad goes on about a car he had 30 years ago which got to 50k and died on him just like that, he now has a Volvo which has done about 180k. Most modern cars could go around the world a few times before you get engine problems unless you run the heck out of them and don't maintain them. Japanese cars are famous for their reliability. My friend has a Civic Type-R and it has just done over 200k without any issues as he gets it serviced when it needs to be.
  15. That's hardly an expensive fix - a point to use to get the asking price down though. Looks like a nice car (from the ad at least). What would I need to fix it? (EDIT changed postcote to a random local one, stupid Autotrader )
  16. Definitely +1 on this. Admiral quoted me a lot less than I was getting with MoreThan. Called them up, quoted the policy number and told them I wanted to cancel the policy. After a quick "let me just speak to my manager" moment, they beat it by £25 plus refunded the difference so far this year.
  17. Just did a quote on a Zed. Was £85 cheaper on my drive than if I pretend I have a garage (purely test only I wouldn't lie lol). I also did a quote on an address which my parents recently inherited in a MUCH lower crime area... it went up £45 compared to my home address on the drive but dropped £100 in the garage go figure that one out!
  18. Another +1 for Admiral. They took my current car down from £750 to £455 and are the only company that will touch me on a Zed when I get it. I do wonder HOW they can do it? Do they risk insuring people for such a low amount hoping that they never have an accident and take the long term pay off where most companies seem to do the opposite and almost try to scare off custom from the likes of myself by sometimes quoting in excess of £4000.
  19. Apologies if there is a thread somewhere already (if not maybe someone could make a sticky somewhere). I am hopefully going to be buying my Zed in the next week or two if the deal I am working on goes ahead. I would like to get involved with the club as soon as I get it and come along to a few shows with the rest of you guys when I can. I'd like some advice on what is needed/recommended to have a car on show. Obviously good bodywork/interior etc but I did a few searches and couldn't find that "definite" advice thread.
  20. Cheers. I'd lose the Sat-nav after my next pay day. Just trying to decide what is a competitive offer.
  21. Hello all , Right, I have found the Z for me... (Link to follow). It's probably about £1500 over my budget, but my budget was more aimed at a 2006 model, this one seems a great deal. It's a GT model and has upgrades already (Bose stereo with upgraded Pioneer head unit (USB / ipod connection, CD / DVD player, reverse camera). 22,000 miles. Only 20 miles from me so once I hear back from the seller I can organise a trip to look it over. Seems like a heck of a deal, taxed until December, 2 new tyres 08 registered. I have looked at another exact same year/colour but with 10,000 miles without the upgraded stereo/reverse camera for £200 more. So... here's the link, I'd appreciate any input on what to specifically look out for. I will check the service book, I will do a full HPI if I do bite and make an offer. What would be a decent offer to come in at just by personal knowledge/experience. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ?logcode=p I've used a few days in lieu at work so I am off for 7 days as of Saturday. A loan has been accepted already as I don't want to eat away my savings and I have my old car up for sale at a good price. Thanks all , (EDIT: whoops forgot the link ) PS If this car is for sale by a member here, PM me I am very interested!
  22. Really is a beautiful car looking car. If it was black I would have bought it in a heartbeat.
  23. As the topic states. What aftermarket stereo system do you have and how much did you get it for and what was difficulty of installation? Any pictures to show it off?
  24. Nothing beats an independently owned business. They care about the service because they rely on reputation. The tyre yard I use probably cost 10-20% more, but they do a heck of a job compared to a Quik-Fit.
