  1. I've been contracting for about 30 years. I've lived and worked in 12 countries during that time. Contracts have run for a couple of days to seven years in the South of France. It's not for everybody. If you like a stable home life with family and friends, it's definitely not for you. If you find it difficult to make new friends and acquaintances, you find it a very lonely existence. You have to look after your own arse, no excuses, it's all down to you! You have to better than anyone you work with... It's a very harsh cut throat world. You have to learn something new every day or you will become obsolete. You can be sacked in an instance and the contract you have isn't worth the paper it's written on. Personally I couldn't do a permie job. My brain would explode with boredom.
  2. Only thing new I'd buy would be this. http://www.hibike.com/shop/product/p812 ... akerX.html I love these, I have them on all of my bikes apart from my M9 Makes you go wheeeeeeeeeeeee
  3. yup. Most bearing nowadays are cartridge bearing so there is nothing to grease apart from the threads. You will need a tools like this to remove the bearings http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/shimano- ... 13629.html. Only thing you need for a triple crown is the rubber bumpers to stop the frame from being damaged. This normally comes with the fork.
  4. Nope. Buy second hand frames wheels etc. Very few people ride downhill bikes hard. Most seem to be bought for 2 weeks holidays in the Alps and never ridden. Lots of cheap deals over the winter. BB size will depend on the bike. Once you know what kind of frame you have, check with the manufactures web site for the bottom bracket size. What kind of bike are you thinking about?
  5. I'd be up for that. Been snowboarding for 25 years, skied a good bit before that. Spent most of my time riding in France, Austria. Only really ride offpiste if I have a choice. Not keen on snow snakes or the mogul mice. I'm old and wrinkle, so I don't do much apres ski nowadays.
  6. Oddly enough, riding a road bike freaks me. Hate descending on them.
  7. Never too old... Oldest person I taught to windsurf was 76. Get a bike, find forest, ride. Giggle like a loon! Maybe do a days skill course when you have ridden a bit.
  8. Been riding mountain bikes since 1987. You would think after all this time I would be good at it. But I'm not
  9. What has age got to do with it? I'm 50, I just spent the weekend down hilling in Switzerland. I don't expect to stop riding any time soon.
  10. Miltek... Only loud when you boot it. I went through the really stupidly loud exhaust stage. Loosened my fillings and gave me migraines. My boss could feel the rumble when I started my car about 1KM away. He's a bass guitarist in a speed metal band. A tribe not renown as having any kind of hearing ability. I like my car better now
  11. Spacers are the work of the devil.... Being a geeky engineer I never under stood why people would put these on a car. 'Cos it looks good in not a suitable answer! I've replace two wheel bearings in the last year on my Infinti FX-35 'cos they had 25mm spacers. I now use them as Frisbee.
  12. Unless your on the receiving end that is Could be worse, he could have got a whoosh Parrot

  14. In that case you need an UPREV tune from one of the traders here. It will definitely be smoother to drive and you'll probably get a few extra horses Speak to Mark@Abbey Motorsports or Jez@Horsham Developments. I think there's another trader that does UPREV.
  15. More power in a zed is an expensive business. Probably between 7-15k for a complete install depending if it's supercharged or twin turbo. If you have thumbs and can do the work yourself, you can get a supercharger kit for about 4k. You'll probably need an UPREV tune which will cost about £300-400. The cheapest way to get more power is to sell the zed and get something more powerful.
  16. I got my CAT D 2006 face lift for £8300 two years ago. The CAT D was having the front and back bumpers replaced after a slow motion crash after the car was a year old. Didn't notice the oil eating engine though :-(
  17. Don't speed, They gone a little bit nuts on speeding in the last couple of years. 160KM/h will earn you a 90euro fine. If you don't have the cash they will take you to a cash machine. They have started confiscating cars and selling them at auction at over 40km/h over the limit. Expect to be checked for Drink Driving. Normally checked at roundabouts during lunch time. There's a new law about carrying two breathalyser in the car.
  18. Your driving something the volume and mass of the Death Star and this was unexpected
  19. Abbey Motorsport will supply and fit the GTM TT kit for the HR engine.
  20. Haven't heard of any reliability issues with the GTM TT kit. I run it myself as a daily drive. Worth the extra cash as the torque is amazing across the rev range. Really smooth to drive.
  21. Just get the GTM Twin Turbo kit. Superb piece of kit that works with no fannying about.
