  1. The 350 has low end grunt. It's a lil breathless up top and it's not the revviest engine going. Have you thought of a 3.2 s 986 boxster? I did but I personally really dislike the look of the Boxster
  2. Yeah that's a big selling point for sure. It's not like the Z4 3.0 is slow, it certainly won't have the top end grunt of the 350 tho.
  3. that 10 extra mpg in the z4 looks better now though? If your doing that many miles will you not want a more comfy interior? Like the bmw? Probably, it's a case of head over heart, or vice versa
  4. Honestly, I would love the 350 but the potential fuel bills are scaring me off a bit, I'll be doing 1-1.2k a month.
  5. surely your answering your own question, what can this guy possibly tell you about owning the car when he hasn't had it 5 minutes himself i'd go take a look at viks if i were you, half the roadtax well known on the forum and the money you'll save on train fares, inspections and roadtax your almost there I was going to but apprently she doesn't believe I was willing to increase my budget
  6. I had a guy and his son come from Sweeden to buy mine, it does happen
  7. Hah true the weather has been shocking recently. That being said, I owned a VX220 Turbo for 3 1/2 years before I moved to Africa (as a daily drive) and I had the roof off at least 75% of the time, so long as it wasnt raining or below zero, it was off I would love another RWD roadster and the 350z doesn't do it for me as a convertible. Has to be one of the best looking coupe's on the road tho. I'd dismissed the idea of getting Z4 because I was looking at the M series which I just way outta my price range at the moment.
  8. So about the same as the one I'm looking at then. I assume you got it all repaired? My main concern is things like twisted/bent chassis and damaged suspension, most other things could be easily and cheaply rectified but they are pretty major =/ Currently considering a Z4 3.0 as an alternative. http://www.thecheshirecarcompany.co.uk/ ... 7477817209 Hmmm, tough call. I don't imagine there's much dif in terms of performance with the Z4 and the 350 due to weight dif. 10+ mpg extra and electric convertible is appealing too. Decisions decisions.
  9. That must have been fairly new if it only had 9k on the clock? What happened to it?
  10. I was going to get an AA/RAC inspection but after reading some reviews on their service I decided against it, especially when they want to charge me £375! Just going to take a look myself and maybe get a local garage to look at it.
  11. Well I'm going down to view the car next Saturday. Worse comes to worse I've spent £45 on a train ticket and come back without a car. Fingers crossed it's all ok.
  12. I know whats happening here bud.........you really, really want this car and your just waiting for the 1 person to say something positive and you'll go get it. Just don't bother........unless its a mega bargain or just down the roads for a little looksee, with a history that makes sense walk the fook away. Its just not worth it for the sake of getting a 'newer' car. I wouldn't say that. I won't lie that I am very keen due to the year, mileage etc but I'm not naive. I'm merely trying to better understand the pro's and con's. In regards to the Cat D, I was simply trying to get a better understanding as from the research I did it said that Cat D was superficial/cosmetic damage that does not require any kind of mechanical work or mechanical inspection, otherwise it would be a Cat C? Again, this is just a lack of knowledge on my part as I have never dealt with damaged vehicles in the past. I'm certainly not dismissing or ignoring your opinions and comments, I'm considering this all very carefully! In regards to running costs, I'm merely wanting to go into it knowing what to expect. There are a few other things I have planned and need to save for so it's just good to get a better idea.
  13. Fair point. I do appreciate all the advice and opinions you have given, thanks!
  14. Oh I can afford it that's not the issue. I could have bought 3/4 zeds for the price of my last car, and the fuel difference isn't all that much. I'm just trying to be sensible and not spend more than I have to. It's not a case of I can't more than it is won't. 20mpg combined? Well I do 90% Motorway/Dual Carriageway/B road which I was told to expect 25-30 with conservative driving, which is fine. Obviously half it when you're having "fun" I had 2.7V6 Hyundai Coupe (book mpg worse than the Z with almost half the power) and a 220BHP VX220T (plus a lead foot) so I'm used to thirsty cars, big tyres, high road tax, insurance, etc. Insurance is only £350 for me fully comp EDIT: Eugh the RAC/AA want £375 to do an inspection That being said, every single bit of research I've done online is telling me Cat D is minor/cosmetic and no structural/mechanical damage, no inspection required etc. Does anyone know otherwise? Being Liverpool (no offence, my dad is a scouser) it's entirely possible that it's been stolen and recovered!
  15. I would love the car but I simply can't justify that much for a car. As I spent the last several years living and working in the African bush I'm starting fresh in the UK, new car, new job, no savings (therefore car will be financed) and not the best paying job! Really, I'd like another VX/Lotus but it's just far beyond what I can justify at this point. I was initially only looking at spending about 5k on a car until I saw the prices the zeds were going for.
