  1. The other day I decided that I didn't like the standard plastic of the center console/column (sorry I'm german, don't know the right word). So I decided to start wrapping it in black brushed aluminium 3M Di-Noc. Just finished doing the lower bit (below the stereo) and thought I'd share the pics. I do quite like the look... intitially I was going to wrap it in CF but that might just be a little overkill. What do you guys think? Obviously the plan is to wrap the rest (upwards) as well.... And yes, I know that I need to clean the car I also noticed that it's an Auto, but hey, I'm 40 years old. I'm entitled to Aircon, heated seats and automatic
  2. I'd just buy some film from ebay and play around with it on small, simple shapes. Gradually you can move to more complex shapes. It's not too difficult once you get a feel for how the film stretches when hot. You'll also need a bunch of really sharp (razor) blades and a hairdryer/heatgun. Once you're comfortable you can move on to important parts (the Zed). I've been playing around with 3M Di-Noc a bit recently and each time I wrap something, I learn something new, just try it mate
  3. Indeed, I want to move the indicator lights to the main tail lights. I do have the LED tail lights, how do you open those? Does it include "baking" them so the seal becomes soft and pulling them off? I am terribly afraid of putting them into the oven...
  4. To be honest, I don't really like the placement of the rear indicators on the Zed, so I've been looking around for a pair of tail lights with integrated indicators. Has anyone attempted to build this or has seen anything like it for sale? If it's possible, I'd move the indicators to the main tail lights and replace the current indicators with normal white light for reverse (or fog lights, haven't decided yet). Any ideas if this is possible?

    6K HID's

QFT, I had those on my old Seat Leon and they looked fantastic and the light output was superb. Just too lazy to install the 8Ks in my Zed because it's such a hassle to put them in. Maybe when I replace my front brakes next week (with the wheels being off already and all)...
  6. Spotted a nice azure blue on Sainsburys car park the other day. Plate is something like PU55... imagine the rest. The other one I saw today in Farnborough on the way to work. GM grey, but can't remember the plate.
  7. The 370 looks ok though not spectacular. The 350 has got to be the most hideous I've seen in a while, nothing fits together. Deffo for the US market!
  8. Excellent, thanks everyone for their replies and great ideas. One thing I forgot about is: Would I pass MOT with this kind of light? I mean Audis etc. use these kind of lights as styling elements as well, but this is perhaps a bit bigger.
  9. I quite like this, though, as you can see in the video, the cut-off end of the tube is much brighter than the actual tube. I'd like a pretty bright light all the way along the length of the tube. Do you know if that's possible?
  10. Yes though I think that neon tubes are not terribly flexible I think the rear lights in current BMW models use something similar... light diffusing acrylic or something like that. I can't google it because I don't know what it is Edit: Now that you mention it, yes it does look very Tron! That gives me a whole bunch of styling ideas
  11. What I'm looking for is a strip of (LED) lights, but one where the individual LED is not visible but it seems like an evenly lit stripe... don't know if this makes sense... if you imagine a piece of acrylic glass, lit from the side, then sometimes all sides of the acrylic block will shine evenly. So some kind of diffusion to hide individual LEDs and make the light look evenly distributed. Sort of like CCFL. Something like this (sorry ATTAK, I just googled for a pic of a zed front and yours came up top )
  12. Got a new pump from R35LEE and what can I say, it's brilliant An entire new feeling to the car
  13. Love your car, tez, wish I could afford all that.
  14. Managed to take a few more (I know I know, I haven't washed the Zed before taking the pics)...
  15. Did you use 30 on the rears for standard suspension set-up and RAYS? Did the tyres fit and not rub the arch? I look forward to seeing some pics! Only managed to take one before my phone went dead, but shows how it looks. All standard, suspension and Rays. And still room for more
  16. I went for H&R 30s and 20s and love it. I'll see if I can take some shots.
  17. At work we have very limited parking so we park in two rows - which means that if someone from the first row wants out, everyone in the second row has to move. People are always happy to move my car, everyone loves it. So do I . The other day I was cruising on the M4 towards London and a Z32 went past me and the driver greeted - that made me feel good and part of an elite group of drivers
  18. There are a whole lot of related posts in this forum: viewforum.php?f=27
  19. Had my Zed there once, for almost 2 weeks because of clunking from the front suspension - unfortunately he couldn't fix it. Put in new drop links though... Not sure I want to go there again.
  20. Nobody's got any ideas? Any recommendations for garages in the Bracknell area?
  21. The car is in daily use. When I bought it the previous owner just got it out of dry storage where it had been for 7 months, but that was in November 2010. And it was fine then, it just recently got much worse.
  22. Sorry to dig up this old post but I'm having the same problem with my power steering. It's always been a bit heavy but wasn't a problem. However recently it got much worse. I can hardly turn the steering wheel at low revs. I tried bleeding the system but no luck. I did notice a few things though: When I rev it up a bit (2500-3000) and then turn the wheel, there is a very loud whining noise. Not just when steering is all the way to the left or right, but also when turning left or right from straight. At those revs, the steering is expectedly light. When I go all the way left or right and rev the engine, there is a noise and I can see very small drops of liquid from (what I assume is) a valve towards the pump. The belts and pulleys look fine and surprisingly, the fluid level in the container does not drop noticeably. Another thing, when I start the car in the morning and everything is cold, the power steerings works fine, it only stops after a while. Also, the previous owner had replaced the fluid container with some aftermarket part. This container has a lid with a little air hole in the middle. Is that ok or is the PAS system a closed (as in pressurized) one? The fluid does get warm in the container so I'm thinking that there is at least some circulation in the system. Any ideas what I should do with it? Do I need a new pump or a new valve? Where can I get those? If necessary I can provide some photos, though it'll be pretty impossible to shoot the little drops of fluid as they are really tiny.
  23. I have a Seat Leon 1.9 TDI (110bhp), but it's an LHD so not really great for driving in the UK. But I have to say, the Seat is a very reliable car, reasonably quick and I still think it looks good. So if you can find one like it with the steering wheel on the right, that might just be the right thing for your missus. Also Skoda (for example the Fabia) make very reliable and very good cars. In Germany the make has a very good reputation, despite it's origins (it's now all VW anyway). Just to give you some more ideas, hope you find her something good. It's always beneficial to keep your missus happy
