  1. There is even less room to look at the rear discs without removing the caliper than the front. So I will take that as a no. Only running on 30mph run is more evidence towards the possibility of a sticky rear caliper, its always good once a week to give the brakes a good press to keep everything moving. Quickest way to check for a sticky caliper is to jack the rear of the car up, get someone to press the brake pedal and see if you can spin either wheel. I am still going for corrosion on the inner face, get the caliper off and have a proper inspection.
  2. When the car was in the garage did they inspect the rear discs on the inside face, in my experience when the front discs are corroded on the inner face the rears are worse. Does the ABS light flash on the dashboard. Now that you have replaced the front discs have you tried a few hard stops from 60 down to 20 mph. Try this and see if the pedal jumps more violently. The car has really low mileage and I am thinking the possibly a sticky rear caliper.
  3. Are you braking hard enough to activate the rear brakes. Pulsing in the pedal with no steering wheel shake would usually be associated with the rear brakes under firm braking but your description suggests light braking. I see you replaced your front discs, was there a corrosion issue on the inner face. Is the noise/pedal pulse only there when braking.
  4. In my experience, probably the wheels. Take some pictures of the mating face of the wheels and post up. I will have a look.
  5. If it returns, it will not be the fault of the discs.
  6. The lines are known as ghosting, I am betting the inside face has offset grooves to the outside. To eliminate the lines as much as possible a new carbide insert should be used in the cutting tool and the finish cut should be done 1 side at a time to minimise ghosting. The fact you can feel a rub suggests the symptoms of judder have been treated but not the long term cause of the judder. IMO the judder will be back within 1500 miles. Sorry to be the bearer of not good news, time will tell.
  7. Check the front wheels are round there may be a bent rim. It will still balance up but will patter because its not round. Get them on wheel balancer but look at the inside edge of the rim as it is spinning.
  8. It sounds disc related, have you checked the inner face of the front discs for corrosion build up. It is not unusualt to see a build up around 3 mm high which can then rub on the backplate of the pads. With a near full surround dirt guard on the 350 it can be difficult to look at inside face of disc, just remove the wheel and the caliper to get a good visual.
  9. White wheels are the dogs, looking good bud
  10. When you get to Enterprise there will be extras. I have very recently hired a van from them and you have to pay more to reduce the excess in case of damage. Because I didn't want to pay the extra £150 I drove around knowing any damage bigger than a tennis ball size I would have to pay £850 excess out of my own pocket NO exemptions. It was £5 a day to reduce the excess on the windscreen which I paid. I too chose this company on price but my advice to you would be to phone around but include excesses to get a true price. The vehicle I hired was good but the worry of some moron Dinting the vehicle in a car park would put me off this company again. If you pay to cover the excess it just about doubles the price to hire.
  11. I used ice hockey pucks on a low entry jack after driving onto a bit of 6x2 wood when I had my Nismo kitted 350.
  12. I am based in Cambridgeshire and I have used Japex for my 350 but I now take my 370 to Sly at Kaisermotor in Kent. Before setting up his own company he was European technician of the year for Nissan, he is a top man and I would suggest half the price or less for P3 service than Marshalls. Its 90 miles for me from Soham but well worth it. He is a trader on here and I know he does Saturday appointments. He will also drop and collect you from the railway station if needed. Can't recommend him highly enough.
  13. Are the discs EBC turbo grooves, only 3 grooves in the disc. If they are brake judder is common on this pattern of disc, if you read the small print in the guarantee I believe EBC advise Procut disc skim after fitting new to eliminate problems later. If the cracking is micro and only in the surface and not around the grooves there is a good chance skimming is an option.
  14. If he's going to sue anyone he should be suing Brands Hatch for failing to provide adequate security measures, let's be honest if you can gain access to the pit lane by simply driving through an empty garage it's not really good enough is it? If you watch the whole video you can see he enters the pit lane from the recovery truck zone, during an endurance race it is common for recovery trucks to enter the circuit under full course yellows and safety car. The recovery trucks have to be able to access the track quickly to minimise the time of disruption. To get into the pit area at Brands hatch you have to enter via a tunnel which has an attendant on. When short race events are running only competitors and pit crew get access through the tunnel, obviously there has been an issue at this point. Once through the tunnel if you are determined to get on the track there is little to stop you. I have a lot of contacts in Motorsport and I am reliably informed he will be getting some justice one way or another. This d***head has upset a lot of very rich influential people and will pay the penalty one way or another.
  15. Prices have definitely firmed up since the winter.
  16. I'll look up the figures for American sports cars, but I suspect you're right. However, BMW at least, have a huge presence in the U.S, loads and loads of Euro Boxes over there but very few Z4's, not sure about Audi though and American sports cars sell in minute quantities outside of The U.S and Canada. What really matters though is worldwide sales, the 350Z was considered a huge success but I wouldn't be surprised if sales of it in The U.K were higher than the rest of Europe put together? I should add that Nissan sold 70,000 vehicles in The U.K last year, Toyota sold 47,000 and for some strange reason The U.K is the only country in the world where Nissan outsell Toyota. BMW sales 73,000, Audi over 100,000. Pete Based on that information (Audi sold 100,000) its true what they say "A fool and his money are easily parted"
  17. Looking at your pictures I would very much doubt you have any pad at all, looks to me like the pad backplate is running on the disc. Do not drive until its sorted, IMHO.
  18. Looking at qually times for pre 66 touring cars track was probably patchy as times varied. Swift on pole and Jonathon Lewis in 2nd bring it on.
  19. Keep an eye on Jonathon Lewis and Nick Swift in Minis in the Pre 66 touring cars. Both cars will be running profiled tyres from my unique tyre shaving machine. A podium may be possible, a win would be outrageous with the big V8's etc that they are competing against. 2 weeks ago at the Mini festival Lewis set a new lap record on the Indy circuit, I dropped off his tyres at his workshop on Tuesday and he was in a very confident mood.
  20. History is what happened till yesterday and can't be changed, tomorrow is the future and any decisions I make can either help or hinder me and my family's fortunes. Maths and English are the important subjects, if you can't communicate and calculate your boundary's are restricted. Success cannot be measured in money volumes, it is measured in lifestyle and personal happiness.
  21. Not everyone is good or have an ability to pass exams. I have always been involved in engineering and most of the graduates etc I have come across are engineers in theory and practically they are useless. Its all well and good drawing something but having the skills to make it is not equatable in paper. As a recent customer of mine said, I wish I was a bit thicker at school, then I wouldn't have been pushed by the school to do exams. I would have been taught more hand skills. It appeared to him that most of the kids he went to school with who were taught hand skills all seem to be running there own businesses and reaping better rewards than most of the kids pushed through the exam qualification route. I managed a grand total of 5 GCSE results grade 3 or less but now run 3 different businesses. If this country is to get up of its are then pack up religious education, history and other such dross replace it with hand skills and more business related education It appears to me we are teaching kids to pass a test not educating them and ultimately they all have a nice piece of paper saying they have passed but most have no idea of work or business. Whilst I accept there are a small percentage of graduates coming out of university who will go on to be in the 5% quoted previously a greater number will still have to work for Tesco. Before I get mashed for my piece, my daughter is currently at uni and working had for her degree and by god I hope she is one of that 5% as the financial stress she will carry for most of her life is something I am glad I haven't got. This country didn't become great because everybody had an office job.
  22. Mine had that smell when I drove spiritedly but after I skimmed my discs and broke the glaze on the pads all round. No more smell however hard I drive. When the discs and pads are glazed there is more heat generated and less bite.
  23. There has been some research in to it, people are far less likely to treat a car badly if they pick it up from the owner and drop it back to the owner.. its not quite the same as dropping it back to a faceless corporation, you feel like you are looking after someones baby. I do quite a bit of work for sports car rentals company's and I can only say you are massively under estimating the way people treat these cars. There are plenty of 3 to 5 car rental company's around London and you will be returning to the guy who owns them and trust me the people who take them out will trash them without blinking an eye. The attitude is I have paid so I will do what I want to. You will soon be on first name terms with the insurance company claims person. L
  24. I can't give a comprehensive list but I recently searched and bought a 370. During my research I came across gearbox issues, just check the box is smooth. Steering lock issue, make sure it has had the recall Bonnet lifter issue, make sure bonnet opens smoothly. Cars with the connect premium sat nav 2010 onwards are more sought after. Other than these issues just the usual car checks for condition and history.
  25. Some of the bhp gain is in the H gate exhaust over the Y gate have seen figures around 6 bhp from this.
