  1. Think i'm going to get the alignment checked on saturday at another garage with the hawkeye kit just to make sure everything is well. If it is, then going to try different tyre pressures see if I can find something i'm happy with it. Out of interest the alignment settings for the Z for front toe in are 0.00 to 0.08, i'm guessing the full 0.08 would mean the steering would be a tad heavier than 0.00 even though they are both within spec.. or is it the other way round. Thanks again for the help.
  2. Would you still class your steering as lighter than before then with the Falkens or would you say its gone away after the miles. I just can't see them improving to back how the potenzas were on my car, unless my alignment is still out (or potentially worse than before)
  3. Thanks for the replies. They are at 35psi, but this was done at the nearest petrol station with an air pump (5 miles away) so potentially not as 'cold' as they could of been.. can't get around this without a pump at home though. Its nice (I think) that someone else has experienced the same switching to falkens.. I've done about 300 miles since fitting now and they are still the same.. but I'm just wondering whether the garage that did the alignment actually corrected it at all?
  4. Was going to post this is the tyres section, but it is related to steering too so thought i'd put it here! Basically, I had Bridgestone Potenza Re40's on all round, with the fronts at about 3mm, the rears were 1.8mm~ so obviously needed replacing, apart from the lack of tread on the rear now I had no problems at all with the Re40's and have done about 5k miles this year with them on. I decided to get all 4 replaced, and ordered Falken 452's in standard Rays sizes and got them fitted a week or two ago.. Immediately after driving out the garage I noticed the steering didn't feel the same.. It felt alot lighter than before with the Re40's.. but I didn't know if it was just me paying more attention to the car so gave it a day or two. After a few days and say 150 miles of driving I had noticed a few things, the steering is definitely lighter now, and I don't have as much confidence in the car at say 70+, the feedback just isnt there like it was with the potenzas and also that to turn in the road the same amount with the Falkens takes say an extra two inch of turn on the steering wheel than the potenzas if that makes sense? I decided to take the car for 4 wheel alignment to see if that would throw anything up, the results were the rear right wheel was toe'ing out slightly, the front passenger was toe'ing in slightly and the drivers toe'ing out... this was strange considering I had no problems at all with the handling with the potenzas.. and I watched the garage fit the tyres.. nothing was touched on the suspension. After they had 'corrected' the alignment, I drove home, and to be honest the car didn't feel any (if at all) different. I have the before and after results which I can post up if needed. Has anyone else with Falken 452's experienced anything like this? Why would I notice such a difference going from RE40's which everyone says are rubbish to the Falkens.. and also why would my alignment of been out when it was driving fine before... and after its been corrected have no change? I have come from cars that handle brilliantly, e.g a Clio 182 Trophy with Pilot Exalto PE2 tyres for example but I've never used falkens. Any help appreciated, as really not enjoying driving the car now.. wish I'd kept my Re40's on and risked getting pulled for no tread on the rear! Thanks.
  5. To be fair I think its a bit mad, its only a Nissan at the end of the day not a £400k supercar, its meant to be driven. And as someone else said its only the same as all the rwd BMW's that are driven all year round.. fair enough leaving it at home due to ice and snow but october?...each to their own though!
  6. Yeah appears to of gone as I'm pretty sure I replied to it.. although it was late
  7. Sure its a UK car you have and not an import, as japanese cars are generally not undersealed underneath from the factory
  8. As above, one of my standard cats' brackets has cracked and now has a hole next to it. Either require both cats or just drivers side (im guessing they are different? ) Thanks Craig
  9. I'd go through insurance, thats what its there for and you don't have to sort any hassle out. Fair enough she might not want to lose her no claims, but its her fault at the end of the day so you shouldn't have to worry or do any running around for quotes..
  10. Most likely the clutch is near the end of its life. If you have any doubts move on IMO.
  11. Are you sure "stamping" on the brake pedal when you have no ABS is not the cause of your problem? Or do you mean you do have ABS but it didn't kick in?
  12. Whered you get them from at £400 a set?
  13. Only when the engine isn't upto temperature yes
  14. Is that the actual air fuel ratio sensor then Alex, is it visible in the engine bay?
  15. Depends what gear and revs. When cruising in 6th at 70-80 it's about 60psi off the top of my head once warmed up
  16. Cheers for the reply Well as soon as I get this warranty thing sorted I'd just like to dump it at Nissan and say sort it. But if I can't get it transferred i'd rather buy the part for it and get it sorted myself! I thought it might be the plenum thats causing it but I cant hear any air leaks. I'l check the MAF tomorrow, could it be the o2 sensors themselves or would that throw a different code?
  17. Parked near you on Friday night, Grey with a private plate and I think an aftermarket exhaust and wheels. Anyone on here?
  18. Hello, Could really do with two threads as i'm not sure this is the right place to post and its a bit of a mixed question, but thought i'd make one to save clutter First thing, I bought my Z back in march time and until recently have had no issues with it. The previous owner was on here, and as far as I can tell looking at his previous posts he had no real issues with it. It was bought with extended warranty until Jan 2011 and I didn't think to check when I picked up the car whether I needed the previous owners signature to transfer the warranty over to me, as I didn't expect to need to use it.. Now after reading the extended warranty book properly I see that I need to fill out the back of it and have the previous owners consent to transfer the warranty... thing is, I've tried contacting him (he used to be a fairly regular member on here) but he doesn't seem to be bothered and hasn't responded to me... bit annoying as all I need is his signature. Has anyone ever had a similar situation, whats the chance if I send the book off to Nissan with just my signature on it and nothing from the previous owner they will transfer the rest of the warranty over? Or does anyone have a better idea? As far as I can see the only mods are a Nismo cat back, Nismo Y pipes, HKS panel filter and I think a plenum spacer.. could anyone confirm from this picture? http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v466/ ... G_0088.jpg The issue i'm having is the engine light is coming on after about 70 miles of being reset depending on driving style, the code is P1273 which is Air/Fuel Ratio Sensor 1. Googling it suggests its running lean by either an exhaust leak, airleak, sensor issue, or a MAF problem. The car is driving spot on so I don't think its anything serious and it doesnt come back on straight away so does anyone have any ideas or help on that problem too.. what its most likely to be etc. Thanks for your help on either question Craig
  19. Yeah I have a shorter aerial on mine it seems and radio 2 reception is pretty poor.. alot quieter than the other channels. Although only listen to radio until the bose has warmed up and stopped skipping
  20. Yeah me either, can't of fit much camping stuff in it either so must be mad to take one to a festival!
  21. I've used Gordon's Tyres in the past, just off the M1 junction on Flanshaw Way http://www.gordonstyres.co.uk/
  22. From what i've read, not easily. I've not seen anyone actually do it, but it may be possible by splicing into the speaker cables.
  23. Newly issued V5's have the number on for the online thing IIRC. Thats if you've got the V5 back from your plate transfer.
  24. Yep as said, apply online and even if it doesn't get here on time its fine. See below
