  1. I'm in Basildon, Essex, I'm all ears if anyone knows of a local garage. When calling the dealers to start with i was amused but by the 5th one who quoting £270 i was just angry, how thick do they think people are? My car was registered at the end of December 2007 so I am heading to the 6 year mark and the plugs have not been done, I've had my HR 2.5 years and done about 18k in that time but I've not had any belt issues to speak of, to be honest i've had literally no issues at all during my ownership. Am option is to buy plugs, oil and a filter from a trader here and take it to a friend of a friend who is very capable might be the better option....i imagine it will certainly be the cheapest but i won't have a stamp in the book and I am going to sell the car so a stamp would be helpful.
  2. So i made some calls this morning.....I called 5 dealers in Basildon, Chelmsford, Southend, Colchester and Romford, all quoted me between £210 and £270 for a P1!!!!!!!!.....utterly mental, they clearly don't want any business as non were interested in budging on price. I called Dixon motorsport and he quoted me £100 plus VAT.....I think I know where I'll be going.....screw main dealer stamps.
  3. Seems very reasonable....I begin my phone call quest tomorrow.
  4. I know what you mean and on every other car I've owned it has been indy all the way but I have all main dealer stamps and there is a chance it'll be going up for sale soon so wanted to keep it main dealer in the interests of keeping the re sale appeal as broad as possible, some people are funny about it and I wouldn't want to put off a potential buyer by having them think I've gone cheap because I'm selling. Interestingly I paid £300 for my main dealer P3 which was either cheaper or the same price as the indies i spoke to at the time.
  5. Hi all, I have an HR zed that had a P3 service at 31k in March last year....I have just hit over 40k and the maintenance notification has started popping up on my sat nav screen so I'm looking to get myself a P1 booked up soon. Can anyone give me an idea of what I would expect to pay for a P1 at a main dealer?....my intention is to play a few local Nissan dealers off one another to get the best price but wanted to know what sort of money to set myself as a reasonable target. Thanks.
  6. Im curious about the 5th to 6th crunch mentioned......anyone got any more info? my neighbor said he has thas issue from time to time.
  7. Love the paint and wheels, your bravery has certainly paid off...i considered a similar scheme many years ago on my pulsar gtir...not a fan of the inside though to be honest
  8. Looks rather nice, i do like those buddy clubs....personally i think the sticker on the rear bumper is odd, I'm pretty sure girls have been driving and therefore overtaking other cars for some time time, they even have the vote now.....madness but true.
  9. Have you bumped in to, and been able to surprise any unsuspecting owners of more exotic cars?
  10. Do you have picture and vids?? I'd love to see some but as has been mentioned earlier in the thread you can't see the pictures, cheers.
  11. I'm certainly no expert but from what little I had read shouldn't the 370 have got a little more power than the 350?
  12. Am i right in thinking that this is similar power to the GTM stage 1 on the HR 350?
  13. Lovely looking Zed....That is right up my street.
  14. If someone posts a picture of their car on a public forum then surely it is fair game for feedback both good and bad, when you create something so individual there will obviously be a mix of responses...not that what the chap said about the roof being green was particularly bad. My personal view is that whilst I'm sure the workmanship is top notch it couldn't be any further away from what i would consider attractive, for me there is way to much happening to the point where, in my opinion, it cheapens the car.

    My zed

Much prefer the before pic....the after pic is way to 90s max power for me.
  16. One of the nicest modified zeds on here....nice to see the less is more approach on body mods.
  17. anything that is as heavily built as either an SC or an engine swap requires a certain amount of continuous fiddling. generally anything like this that didn't come from the factory like that needs regualr little tweeks, maintanence etc. its not a fit and forget type of mod. if your not technically minded it may become frustrating if you can't do it yourself and have to keep taking it to a speciailist as something happens each time. its not that it will be unreliable as the engine or SC build are good products. but you'll always find yourself in the engine bay "adjusting" things. 15k-18k is a good budget for a replacement car what about a maserati Gransport http://www.autotrade...p52hr?logcode=p Aston DB7 http://www.autotrade...p52hr?logcode=p Jag XK http://www.autotrade...age/1?logcode=p TVR Tuscan http://www.autotrade.../1500?logcode=p Porsche 911 turbo http://www.autotrade...age/1?logcode=p lotus esprit http://www.autotrade...p52hr?logcode=p Vauxhall monaro http://www.autotrade.../1500?logcode=p BMW M6 http://www.autotrade...p52hr?logcode=p So much car is available for reasonable money these days....one of the plusses of high fuel costs i guess. I love the Lotus, always had a thing for them....but as was mentioned the Monaro would be the more realistic of those options, and that one looks very nice in red with the black details, at least i'd still get an LS2. I popped the gym this morning and ended up putting this scenario to a couple of the car enthusiats there....the more we started to talk it through with the various pros and cons I kind of walked away thinking maybe a nice 370 with the abbey stage 3 kit and around 350bhp was the way to go. It does tick many of my boxes, looks great, goes and sound great (with the abbey stage 3), is newer, modern, would be a low mileage car, ultra reliable, rare, cheap to maintain.....and an easy sell to the wife as loves them....no doubt I'll change my mind tomorrow.
  18. I never, ever get bored of those clips of the zed destroying the GTR....and pretty much anything else it lines up againt....epic car.
  19. All lovely cars but they are all a little more track focused and for the amount of track/driver days I'd do in a year it wouldn't be worth the compromise to me.
  20. Why would the LS2 be a pain? i thought it was a very reliable motor.
  21. To add a little more meat to the bone as it were...whatever option I take it won't realistically be happening for around 8 months due to other financial commitments. As for budget if I was modding my current zed I'd be looking at around a 10k budget....if i were going to buy a new car 15k to 18k. The car will be a daily, mileage would be around 12k per year, I don't currently own or plan to own a child and have another more practical car so 2 seats is fine, MPG doesn't really matter either thanks as my fuel is paid for and obviously I'd like to keep maintenence as low as possible (one of the reasons a 370 is apealing over something like a BMW M car).
  22. Undoubted performance but not for me....to in your face for my tastes.
  23. I've budgeted £15k for the entire LSA swap. But that does mean calling on friends for installation (but it'll be more than doughnuts for favour payments) 10k would be about right if taken to a garage for fabrication and fitting. I'm in no rush to make a decision on what option i take, if anything it would be better for me financially to wait until the end of this year or early next and alas i have zero, and i mean zero, mechanical skills....a cammed LS2 does hold some appeal.
