  1. Just sent my email to register for this. As soon as i get the pack I will get the paper work sent off and hopefully i've not left it to late!! Really looking forward to this. It will be good to meet some more members from the club too! Will be my first real track day 1. The G Man 2. Wasso 3. Neilp 4. Vik54 5. remould 6. GT4 Zed 7. Was8v 8. |chris|
  2. I looked at the Alfa's last year. From what I read (and this was backed up by short test drives) the fuel economy is not great - low to mid 30's. They may look good but i just didn't think they were anywhere near quick enough for the fuel economy. I decided I would much rather just spend a bit extra and keep the zed. 335d is a great engine although expensive compared to the 335i. You need to cover a lot of miles before you get the extra up front cost back but it will probably hold it value better long term. The 325d and the 330d are the same engine with a different map a believe. If funds are tight you could get a nice 325d and get is re mapped? Chris
  3. Just looked on Amazon and this phone is £490 new (used are still £300) and the cheapest way to get this on contract is over a £100 more. So, if you are after a smart phone without a high monthly tariff for the next 18 months this is a chance to get a bargin. Chris.
  4. I have a brand new Palm Pre Plus still sealed in the box. This is straight from the O2 shop through a warranty claim where they replaced the handset rather than repair it so everything is above board. The Palm Pre is a great phone however I had one for nearly a year and this seems a good chance to try something new. All the details of the phone can be found on Palm's website: http://www.palm.com/uk/en/products/phones/preplus/index.html I will also throw in a USED (but in very good condition) touchstone wireless charging pad and additional charger so you can leave the touchstone pad by your desk or bed and still have a charger for nights away etc. Price is £320 + p&p (<£10) Chris.
  5. I am looking for a cat back system as the rest of the joints are in a similar nick and will be blowing soon too. While i am going to the time and cost of fitting a back box and mid pipe i may as well do the Y pipe too. Sparky you have a PM. Thanks for the suggestions. Chris
  6. All, My exhaust is blowing in the usual weak spot (the join between the mid pipe and back box). It's in the garage today and hopefully they will be able to weld up the joint so i can get more life out of the exhaust before a new one. My issue is that i want to keep the car completely standard - but a new standard exhaust is very expensive (£850 fitted from the Cats back!!) I don't want a modified exhaust (the sound of the standard one is just right for me) and i will pay the £850 if that what it costs for a standard exhaust but are there any options i am over looking?? Thanks, Chris
  7. Do you really need fuel and a fire extinguisher? I didn't know that. Is that just for france or oyther countries in europe too? What bulbs do you need as head light bulbs are not cheap. Chris
  8. off the top of my head they quoted 980 for an genuine nissan one or 450 for a non genuine one fully fitted. chris
  9. Hi, Thanks to all those who have posted so far. Booked the car in for a re-gas and and the worst was confirmed - there is a leak and a new a/c compressor is required. Been quote a price by Nissan Chorley and it's not cheap! I'm between jobs for the next month so time is on my side which leads to the next 2 questions 1, If anyone sells A/C compressors please could you pm me a price (ZMANALEX, R35LEE etc). 2, Is this a job an amateur could do (aka me!)? Obviously it would still need to be re-gassed by a pro after replacing the compressor but does anyone know how difficult this would be? I have done servicing and brakes etc in the past but have not really attempted anything like this in many years. Chris
  10. All, I posted this on another thread that was talking about the musty smell however after a very useful post from Neilp i thought in needed its own thread. My post: Neilp's reply (Thanks!) So out i went to test this. Engine on and Air Con off - Rev's at 750rpm. Turn the Air Con on and there is no change at all - still at 750rpm. So i guess this means that the compressor isn't kicking in..? I've checked the belt hasn't snapped and i've looked for a fuse but not found one. I'm going to get it looked at next week but does anyone have any suggestions in the mean time? May also be wise for me to ask if anyone can recommend a A/C engineer in the North West. Thanks in advance. Chris
  11. I've noticed recently that everytime i use the car ther e is very odd smell although i always leave my aircon on.. However today it seems to have stopped working and is just blowing out warm air. I guess the smell could be a symptom of the aircon not working but any idea's where i should looking to fix it.... Fuse? Needs Gas? ?? Cheers, Chris
  12. I am currently considering a change and i've only had the car less than a year. The resson is a change in circumstances. I bought this car because I get a hire car every week for work so it is effectively a weekend car. I'm due to change job soon and this will involve using my own car each week totalling over 20k + personal miles a year and parking in hotel/public/office car parks all week. Does it really make sense to do this in the zed? I really love the car but it's alot of miles and cost. I thought about a cheap car for the week but then i don't want to do 90% of my miles in a shed when i have a great car at home. Plus i have no garage and the cost of two cars just doesn't add up. So i'm left with the choice of move on do 25k+ a year in the zed. Opinions welcome! Chris
  13. I would suggest removing your mobile number and email address. This is an open forum and there are a lot of bots that scan it. I'm sure one of the mods will be along soon with the same suggestion. Ask people to PM you and swap dettails from there. Welcome to the site btw. Chris.
  14. This may be an interesting read for you. http://www.evo.co.uk/news/evonews/24852 ... ested.html Chris
  15. Hey all, I am interested in getting on spotify and was hoping one of you may be able to sort me out with an invite. If you have some invites and would be kind enough to give me one please send me a PM as if a code is posed on the forum i'm sure it will get used very quickly! Thanks in advance. Chris
  16. Spotted this afternoon (about an hour ago) thought it may be someone off here?? Flashed my hazards but didn't notice a response. Chris
  17. I live just dowb the motorway from middlebrook however neither of those were me. If the owners are on here we could organise a mini-meet as i've still not had the chance to attend a local meet. Chris
  18. I drive this road quite a lot when i go up to Newcastle with work. Its a great road and beats sticking to the motorways all the way there! I've never had the chance to drive it in the zed as i use hire cars for work but at least i don't to worry to much about pot holes etc!
  19. I have the same brakes and the same problem. My brakes have no feel and don't seem to have any bite just like you described. I would be very interested to hear if the suggestions work as i'm thinking about just putting on new pads all round as the wether gets better but this may save me a few pounds. I deffinatly won't be buying EBC again though Chris
  20. nice ZED!! Everyrime i see one i wish i'd bought a white one! Chris
  21. Good to see there are few members in my area. I've got a GM zed and live near whitefield. I'll keep an eye out for you all but i must say i don't see that many about. I would also suggest you try Nissan Chorley they have been very helpful. I had the MI light come on in mine the other month and an intermittent misfire. They swapped the coil pack from the offending cylinder with another cylinder to try an isolate the problem but it's not occurred since! They did all that for free though which i was impressed by. good luck fixing the fault hope you get to the bottom of it. Chris.
  22. The pictures look good, was this the trafford park meet? I was going to try and come to this and meet a few people but i didn't get chance. Chris
  23. Makes you look like a bit of a rag an bone man - but this is supposed to work and should save some time digging... Stick some bits of old carpet in the boot. If you get stuck jam it in front of the tyres. As they turn they will pull carpet under - carpet should grip due to larger surface area and alow you to pull the car out of the little dip it has dug itself. Keep crawling (remember to change up to second as soon as you can to avoid spin) going till your on a flat bit - then go back and get carpet on foot. Im going out to carpet our road now...... If only i hadn't taken all them carpet cut offs to the tip the other month! Luckily my mum lent me her car so the zed is still safe on my drive. I'm sure i will have to use it again soon though so i'll try letting my tyres down and see if i can find some old carpet some where. Thanks for the advice.
  24. I have nearly new RE050's on mine and it's a waste of time in the snow. the slightest incline or a bit of deep snow and i'm out digging! I've managed not to use it while we have had snow over the last day or two but tomorrow i have an interview for a new job. It's not going to look very good if everyone else make it in and i can't even get there for the interview but I'm really not looking forward to get the zed out. Chris.
  25. I feel your pain I use a hire car for work so have one most weeks. We used to use Hertz and as a 'Presidents Circle' member I was supposed to get a one class upgrade but it rarely happened. We now use Avis and I keep getting awful 207sw's so I feel like i'm on a school run or fiat bravo's which usually have a 1.4 turbo engine with 150bhp but very skinny tyres and no traction control!! In wet it can get very interesting at times! They also used to chsnge there cars efore 15k but now i've seens ones with over 30. After that much abuse many are in a right state. Chris
