  1. If doing it when warm, I find it best to... Pull dipstick Wipe Insert dipstick wait a couple of seconds Pull dipstick - read from rear. Refit.
  2. Welcome to the club and congrats on the purchase! I recognise your Soop picture from when I was active on the mkiv forum. Can't remember your story though, sounds like you were very unlucky with your engine troubles! I assume the troubles were when it was n/a or n/a-T and you bit the bullet and dropped in a TT in the end?
  3. I loved my Supra TT6. I think the rear is still one of the best looking of any car on the road and think they have aged pretty well. IMO the front is the only part of the car that looks dated, particularly the head lights. In the right colour (black) with the OEM body kit and lowered on a set of wheels, I would go as far to say they can even look classy as opposed to Chavy. I think the interior is far from dated and puts a lot of modern cars to shame. Handling wise, they are much better than you'd think but maybe not quite as good as the Zed. A set of Tein or eibach springs, some yellow Bilstein shocks and replacing any worn bushes etc and jobs a good'n. Engine wise, well not much needs to be said there, Twin Turbos, 400bhp very easily/cheaply done and as near to bullet proof as you could get.
  4. Welcome to the forum. May I suggest having a look in the classifieds on here? There are ususlly some tasty Zeds for sale for much less than a dealership would charge. And if they are active forum members, chances are they will have looked after the Zed better than most as it tends to be a hobby rather than just a car to get from A to B.
  5. They will not pass a 'propper' MOT. But you can swap your cats back in MOT time if you can be bothered.
  6. Maybe if your FI .....AND get it tuned after. Both me and Steddy changed Kinetix HFC for these and gained circa 20 hp after a re-tune. Might get a few horses if your n/a after a tune. £15 a bargain though.
  7. Welcome to the club. Have a look around - plenty of tips on detailing in the.......... detailing section And you should be able to source a kit of your liking from one of the traders here. (in the traders section) Get some pics up
  8. Just create yourself an ebay account in the same way you registered on here. Its very simple. You can then contact him even though the bidding had ended. If your doing project build your gonna want Ebay at some point anyway. ( unless you don't want to save money on parts that is)
  9. I bet that cost more than the car!
  10. suspension refresh... never heard of it tbh I think he just means replacing worn suspension parts.
  11. in your humble opinion of course no, it's horrible The headlight covers aren't my cup of tea but the rest of the car I think looks quite good. It is 'in your face' but thats obviously what he was after. I think it's good not to be sheep and have a bit of individuality. You won't see another one the same will you.
  12. I've got to stop looking at these posts before the wedding fund disappears.
  13. Mike's wasn't done at Middlehurst, I think he done a lot of it himself. I've still only come across the 2 I saw last year that I know were done there.
  14. Yeah that was one of them. The other was a black GT, otherwise stock '54 plate I think. There was also a blue one as well because it turned up to the Ace cafe meet a while back Thats Mr F's car I think. The guy from MJP? Yeah Mike's Azure has a Stillen S/C. The two I was referring to were simply the ones that were for sale at the time of me looking. I'm sure there is a hand-full more out there.
  15. I didn't know that and it hadn't crossed my mind what would happen. Thanks for pointing that out.
  16. As you mentioned from your research, the modifications alone will not give you any more power. The ECU needs tuning/remapping to get the benefit from the mods carried out. There are people that believe fitting an induction kit and exhaust etc... gave them an increase in power but its very likely that it just sounds more powerful and the dyno often shows a loss after mods without a tune. If you have a budget (say 1k) I would suggest getting a quote for a UpRev remap (around £400 ) and then decide on what mods to do with the remaining £600 and do them BEFORE the Uprev. Performance filter, Plenum spacer, decats and Uprev would be a good start and would probably give the best gains without spending a fortune. Have a look through the Dyno thread in the performance section for an idea on what gains are made from what mods. Also read anything with dyno, uprev, abbey, rs tuning, in the title as some people have individual threads with dyno sheets that are not in the dyno thread. Gains aren't big without FI but most people report a massive improvement in drive-ability.
  17. or R35LEE they may be able to help you.
  18. Welcome to the club. I very much doubt your gonna get a Zed that's as fast as you want it on anywhere near your budget I'm afraid. It is a very nice/fun car to drive and handles very well and predictably, but due to its size, weight and the linear way it delivers it's power, it will never 'feel' fast. Not like your turbo probably does. I'm running circa 420hp with a Supercharger and although it IS very fast, it doesn't 'feel' as fast as my 375bhp TT Supra did, although I'm sure it is. It will cost you many £k's to get a fast 350z.
