  1. Had a think , Multi cylinder misfire is normally trigger by lambda,s reading a very rich mixture in the pre Cat lambda,s. I would say the car is reading the AFR at part throttle and then checking this agaisnt the closed loop map , if the figure is over a certain percentage out it will flag a CEL ( I would say your running very rich as it is F/I) , a misfire will show up as very rich as well , so I feel thats why your car is flag the CEL that you have quoted. Nurrish , I can tweak your Uprev tuned ECU to stop the CEL light coming up , but the multi cylinder misfire CEL normally puts the car onto the high det map , i.e ignition timing pulled. Mark

Cant understand that 2 people have had the same problem. lets get this straight ; All worldwide 350z use the same ECU plug, even the Revup uses the same plug as a DE car, just has a few extra wires for the extra cam control and the US has a few extra wires for a few things like fuel tank temp and the NATS wire is in a different position. The only difference between the early US and early JDM cars is that these cars have narrow band lambda,s fitted (the US and JDM cars went wide band 6 month 2005 I think would need to double check) all UK have wide bands fitted from build start. So only thing I can say is the Utec for a narrow band or wide band car? this could be causing the problems. Has anyone got a wiring diagram for a Utec that I can have a look at please? Mark

MattG, all cars have closed loop and open loop maps , just the all the UK cars and from 6 month 2005 all other cars had wide bands fitted,this makes the car faster responding while on closed loop. closed loop map works with the open loop map , the open loop map has to be nearly spot with regards the correct fuelling otherwise the closed loop map has to work to hard to trim the fuel. Open loop is normally full throttle and over 5000rpm at part throttle. These engines dont have MAP sensors they have MAF sensors or air flow meters. We can supply a air flow meter to allow us to tune to approx 650bhp @ the flywheel. hope that is a little more easy to understand. Mark
  5. HKS S/C kit has a horrible u bend in the air filter pipework , always something we have thought would cause a restriction. HKS ways seems to work thou , but your need to fit a smaller battery or move the battery into the boot. I just had a mail from HKS re the S/C used in this conversion , looks alot bigger than the normal HKS S/C unit thou , but It has got me thinking.....S/C or turbocharger......what will it be I wonder.....LOL

No it doesn't , where did you read that , the car after deleting the self learn will run on the HIGH Det map i.e lower ignition numbers (SAFE) it will THEN add timing listening to the knock sensor suntil it is back to the LOW det figures (more agressive) We do not switch anything off in the ECU , just tune the learn figures to enable a SAFE map. I think we just refine the stock map.

Tricky, not being funny but modern ECU,s have moved on so much from say 8/10 years ago , look at our TV,s 10 years ago the TV,s was massive boxes , nowdays so much more compact better pictures, we could discuss merits off ECU,s for ever. I feel the latest spec ECU fitted to the Z are pretty awesome , we can tune ever ECU fitted to a VQ engine and even the new GTR can now be tuned. We can even add a boost control map to the 350Z ecu,s if we need to. The early narrow band ecu,s still closed loop very well as they are tuning around the lambda 1 settings which is okay, the later cars you can tune from 10.0 to 17.0 afr due to the wide band lambda which are fitted.   10. far more superior than an old Supra ECU I feel. From 06/2006 all 350 z have wide band ecu,s , but all 350z has the ability to tune the ignition timing live. Mark
  11. just a quick reply to a few questions; We call the 350z a self learn ecu ; it works it 2 ways 1 IGNITION; the car runs 2 maps , low det and high det maps , the high dett map uses a less advanced (agressive) map. When you delete the self learn ,the car reverts to the high det map then starts feeding timing in ,listening to the det sensors to listen for the dreaded tingle. after a short time the car will be running full timing , they can even add a degree or two here and there we have found most on part throttle. 2 FUEL again the car runs 2 maps 1, closed loop this is called the trim map , the car uses the lambda reading to run the car at the correct fuelling 2,open loop i.e full throttle and there about , the numbers in the map will add the correct amount fuel you want i.e no closed loop. You can if needed delete the closed loop , only normalyed used on race cars but we find using this map and a tuned figure helps part throttle driving especially with turbo powered car. when we say self learn we mean the car can play with the fuelling and ignition maps itself to obtain the best/safest performance.   12. not the dyno causing problems it understanding how the car works , these car self learn, any difference in driving issues they start to self learnagain , delete the self learn while on the dyno it will take 5/6 runs for the car to get back the where it was.. I dig a dyno sheet out showing this sometime. Mark
  13. UK cars dont ever seem to run the quoted BHPNissan say we find but these cars need to run a certain way on the dyno to give a good reliable figure. You need to run in 4th gear , do 4 or 5 full throttle runs you notice the bhp will increase a sthe runs count up , then let the car cool off for 2/3 mintues then carry out a full throttle run , this will give the most reliable figure we find. We normally see around 230/235 bhp at the hubs for a stock DE UK car this equates to around 265/270 bhp at the flywheel , I have run a few so happy to quote hub bhp , but you can't compare figured between dyno,s thou. any more questions ask away. They do if you remap, all modern ECU,s self tune it the way for the ecu to tune the car for the wear and tear of mileage , different weather conditions. cars have come a long way in the last few years. If you want to bolt stuff on your need a remap full stop. Even a totally stock car we can make it drive better and give a better spread of bhp/torque after a remap. 370's are even more intelligent but that can wait for another day Mark
  15. I mapped a UK car fitted with De-cats and a Nismo system , to be honest it wasn,t to loud cruising around but did give a good bark when floored or reved. BHP/Torque wasn't to bad either. I would say the Nismo system is pretty good at giving good power and being reasonable quiet, but wont give the big figures like some of the other systems out there, but I am afraid to say to make the 300+ bhp you need a good flowing system which normally means noise. Matt, did I quote you for a set of Berks De-cat,s and a XYz fitted with a race cat? I know it may be a little more expensive than a set of ceramic front cats to use with your Nismo system inc Y pipe but I am sure it will give more bhp than a pair of race cats fitted. Mark
  16. What model car you got? I can do a reflash just to remove the speed limiter and not tweak the map at all? Just send me your ECU , I will turn it round in a day. Mark

  18. Oh really , you can read what all the O2 sensors are reading with the uprev , so I thought you can work out what 1 isn't working properly. Shame you a little far from us , we have a Nissan Consult 2 for diagnostic,s. Fancy a road trip!!!!
  19. RS can help you out as they have the Uprev software , you may need to have a remap thou. Other than that I has to be a Nissan dealer, generic OBDII readers doesn't read all the Nissan CEL codes
  20. Not got a stock car UK at the moment,we have a 350Z UK car that is being repaired as we speak that we will use as a development car , I will try out the idea you have. My JDM car is way past a stock car and will take to long to put back to stock. Will keep you up to speed at what is going on thou. Mark
  21. Most probably. Its just as it joins before the y pipe. as usually its manifold - cats - Y pipe but with the xyz it will be manifold - xyz - cat/decat. Their marketing says the further back the Y is the better the power gains. You mention with the XYZ it would be in the order "exhaust manifold - connected to XYZ - then cat/decat". So does the XYZ pipe replace the two stock cats? No XYZ just fits where the stock Y pipe fits. What we do is remove the stock cats and fit de-cat pipes , then we can use the XYZ pipe and fit a de-cat pipe/silencer/race cats. Very easily to swop over as well. very nice piece of kit. Mark
  22. These are only good again F/I just like the Kinetx manifold. I can't see how anyone can design something that works as good as the stock designed plenum that Nissan must have spent a few quid developing. The spacer/Mrev will help a little because I feel Nissan had to lose a little height from the motor to make it fit under the bonnet/
  23. Kinetix SS plenum doesn't work full stop on a N/A car I gain over 10 lb/ft of torque when refitting a stock plenum without a spacer. I will try the spacer below the lower collector as soon as 1 turn,s up. I read the posts tommorrow and answer , good thread boys and girl.
