  1. I must admit 'Lorry drivers' to get a huge amount of critism (sometimes justified) and to be fair I would have complained about them myself a year ago.......for example, imagine the scenario when a truck pulls into the overtaking lane on a dual carriageway just as a hill appears and spends the next 4 miles attempting the overtake only to pull back in behind the other lorry with a failed overtake! Yes this is annoying. This is frustrating I agree but I now work in the transport industry and recruit Class 1 LGV drivers on a daily basis.....I have learnt a massive amount during this time and I now do appreciate how difficult this profession can be. Now I am a little more lenient towards the LGV drivers on our roads and it has been even noted that I have flashed a lorry to move out to attempt such an overtake to the amazement of my wife!
  2. On a similar note.....I drive 20 miles each day and the route consists of 60 mph roads and small villages with 30-40 limits; what gets me so MAD is these arrogant, unaware and dangerous motorists who drive at a constant 45 mph! In the 60 zones they hold everyone up causing lengthy tailbacks and increase the possibility of 'dangerous or risky' overtaking, generally caused by the building frustration at not progressing at a reasonable speed; then as they approach the 40 or 30 zones they continue at the same speed without a care for the local residents, children or pets that maybe crossing the road at any point. Why do they drive this way? Is it that they are just incompetent moron's?
  3. Oh I see.....that does make more sense now......looking back this is quite funny because I remember even calling through to the missus to check if she did find an 'old bill' in the glovebox Should check my messages more carefully before sending, type to quick for my own good. Good luck with the Azure search....drops us a PM sometime and we'll have to arrange a mini meet with some of the other Norwich members!
  4. Good one! Made me chuckle.....where did you find your friend by the way, could with one of those myself? Thanks Ian; probably get this done at the weekend then......I think even I could manage this! I take it you then just stuck the original plate back on over those holes and plugs as has been mentioned, or did you have the holes filled?
  5. Looking to do this modification over the next few weeks but wondered whether I can remove the plate bracket without having to remove the front bumper as really don't fancy taking it off?
  6. Well obviously gliptone is the best but the missus has just bought some leather balm that is also a leather cleaner.....all in 1 product. May not be the best or most expensive product but it does seem to leave the leather seats looking good. Out of curiousity......how often should you apply such a product to your seats, is there a frequency that is too much??? Thanks for any assistance
  7. djtimo that is the funniest thing I've ever seen......as scrolling down through the photos I honestly expected to find this amazingly vinyled roof at the end like most of the threads on here! Always read these threads & feel very envious of the final results and wish I could be more practical.....not the most DIY minded But this would be the exact outcome I would dred...........seeing the final pic made me howl! Top effort with posting this on here
  8. purchased and collected the Mini at the weekend......even though the guys at Mini (BMW) fully valeted it ready for us we still spent 4 hours the next day getting to our standard!!!! No bill or anything in glove box.....why do you ask? Was it your mini?
  9. Welcome to the forum....we're all a friendly bunch.....generally
  10. Well it seems the questions have been answered so I will just say Hello We are all a friendly bunch......I've learnt so much on here over the months.....the 'search button' is your friend
  11. Tesco's Momentum all the way!!! Sometimes go miles out of my way to make sure I'm putting the good stuff in; would never use 95!
  12. +1, tried and tested and works a treat. keep the autosol well away from the headlights though Thanks must go to Narcotix for starting this thread.....as soon as I saw it I knew this was exactly what my headlights had done; they seemed to have got far worse over the past 6 months and I was even contemplating whether I could justify purchasing new headlights Follwed the advice of Mike above, I bought some Megs all metal polish....this did scare me somewhat as the headlights I believe are plastic and I thought this may cause harm. Without any doubt this is the best £8.99 I have ever spent. Yes the elbow grease required, as I don't have a Kestel or any other form of electronic polisher, was monumentos. I think I will develop 'tennis elbow' after this job but definitely worth the pain. Headlights although not as good as those pictured on here in certain detailing threads now look amazing it's like having new eyes!!! I could do recommend this product "megs all metal polish" any more for this job......it may seem strange but it does work and the smell of the paste is nice (whish is a bonus). Buy it now......got mine from Halfords.
  13. Update on the car searching is over...........had a little change to the suggestions that were previously posted. We were set on the idea of a 1 series BMW after the feedback we recieved on here and it seemed the right upgrade to what Clare had. After test driving a few models we were closing in on selecting a car; then I found on Autotrader a Beemer that had just been taken in at the BMW dealership in Norwich! Looked nice and wasn't too bad when we went to see it. Whilst we were at the delaership there is also a Mini dealership on the same site so we went for a nose around........Clare found a couple she loved and we test drove them both. Now she had her heart set on a Mini Copper.....I did persuade her to let me do some research before we made a purchase as I didnt really know much about them. After some research on the web and various forums and test driving a couple more we went for the Cooper we found at the delaership. Haggled like crazy with them and I secured a reasonable deal on the Cooper. The mini we went for is a 2005 '55' plate Mini Cooper in silver with black detailing, 1.6 petrol returning approx 46 combined to the gallon. Only went for a Cooper not the 'S' as Clare didnt like the feel of the more hard-core model with a heavy clutch etc. Probably modify it to appear similar to the 'S' though! Thank you to everyone's view points and suggestions during our search; certainly helped us to look at models and and brands we may not have thought about
  14. Always rated ABD but I have also mentioned this a few months back.....shame they don't take the guidance on board to save the same issue reappearing!
  15. Brave man.......but awesome result; even managed to get yours the right way around Wish I could aford a carbon bonnet........they certainly look the nuts on a GM or silver Zed. Top job; I bet you're stoked with the final result
  16. I remember when I first joined the forum I had the same question; after reading the previously posted topic shown below I decided to remove my trim altogether and now I think she looks much better viewtopic.php?uid=4704&f=72&t=48820&start=0 Hope this helps.
  17. Any of the 'Gods'.........I mean 'Mods' on here (moderators)! Send them a PM and they will reply swiftly with a code; these guys are the nuts If you get stuck send me a PM but I don't think I'm allowed to send it to you directly.
  18. Taddy the bumper is certainly one of those things I think some may love whilst others may not......a 'marmite' bumper perhaps! Loving the headlights.....how much did they charge to modify these? They're very
  19. Winter months is defo the time to purchase......who in their right mind would go searching to buy for a rear wheeled, tarmac eating sports car delivering over 270bhp during the cold, slippery, icy and snow covered months Yep......us lot because we love them and they are amazing. Just be careful when the roads are icy as they can be tail happy to say the east.
  20. AZURE! If I'm honest I wouldn't choose either, GM is by far the best colour but we've seen this old argument rear its head many a time over the years! If I chose either of these it would be the azure model as looks slightly better than the red and also I wouldn't fancy owning an import but just listen to your heart........no-one else can understand what make you tick
  21. Helllloooooooooooooo........I'm a Norwich Zed so may pass you at some point once you get yours. GM all the way.....don't go down the azure route, you'll regret it! Controversial!!! Is your ST modified heavily? may have seen you around! We are all a friendly bunch really.
  22. I was under the impressions these were standard on all UK 350's built after 2004 but may be wrong. As mentioned I know these are ludicrously expensive and certanly three figures so at £15 that is a bargain.....i'll take 3 please
