  1. Thought so. You can tell him Ross told you who it was, and that I've bought another one..
  2. I have no experience of coilovers on the 350Z, but on other cars I've had, cheaper adjustable height / damping units are compromised with regards to on road performance. Adjustable ride height is useless for most as they set it to a height and leave it (as it matched to geometry settings), so only of use if you're installing them to acheive a desired look, at the expense of performance. Going too low will affect the roll centre and muck up the basic suspension geometry in the original suspension design, which isn't ideal for a road car. Adjustable damping can be fun to muck around with, but it means the spring rate and damping rate will never be properly matched outwith a few incremental settings, and when you end up finding a setting that suits, you leave it, thinking you've done a great job in setting you're car up (been there). Add in the fact the adjustment mechanism adds complexity, and can reduce the reliablity of some dampers, it's just not worth it for me. I'm not going to prejudge various brands of coilovers, as no doubt many owners are happy with their choice and the product, but my experince is that you can't beat a good quality matched spring / damper combo (the B6 is based around the standard rate spring AFAIK) for rounded performance on the road.. I read recently that Nissan and Bilstein developed a fixed rate damper for the GT-S concept from back in ~2006. I wonder if this is effectively the production version of that experience (this or the B8)... I went through a similar epxerience with my VX220, and eventually found that even going for more expensive adjustable units (Nitron NTR) didn't give the rounded capablity on the road as some of the available Lotus fixed dampers that were a combo of Bilstein and Eibach.. It's personnal choice I suppose, and not being able to compare one against the other means its only opinion, but I do think that unless you're looking to lower the car, and like adjusting things / have to adjust for different road or track settings (but how many actually tweak ride height?), then a fixed rate, good quality damper offers the best in terms of road performance, cost, fit and forget servicablity. For me it does anyway.
  3. Cheapest online appears to be Camskill - ~£510 + delivery Can't see how you'd get them any cheaper, and great value for a monotube damper from the likes of Bilstein. http://www.camskill.co.uk/m14b0s1749p0/Performance_Suspension_Kits_NISSAN_-_350Z_-_02_on
  4. There's I guy I used to work with (as I used to work there) called Mark, who had an '05-plate Azure roadster, standard wheels. He's probably still got it. Probably him.
  5. So, what is you're opinion on these after fitting? Thinking of Eibach ARB's with Bilstein dampers on standard springs - ultimate fast road / daily compliant car?
  6. Looks like it! Think I'll leave it to a a garage to fit though, CBA rolling around under a car nowadays..
  7. Aye, and quite rapid. Miss it.. http://www.vx220.org.uk/forums/topic/127920-supercharged-vx220-calypso-red-72k/
  8. No chance I'm afraid. If the torque requirements to undo the nut are sufficient to break the weld on the bolt to subframe, there no way grips would hold it, especially as access is dire..
  9. Well, sort of / not really (you thought I'd binned it huh?)... 1st weekend of ownership and attempt at fitting Eibach ARBs.. Everything came off ok (well, apart from under tray boots snapping - to be expected) until attempting to remove the nuts that hold on the rear ARB bracket. Nissans rather fantastic design uses a round headed bolt attached to the alloy subframe. This is not so great when the bolt starts to spin when undoing the nut..! Looks like I'll have to cut it off using a Dremel and try using a traditional bolt nut, where at least I could jam something in there to stop the thing rotating.. I spent far too much time on my previous VX220 with such things, that I said the ARBs would be about the only modification I was going to do.. Stopped at the first hurdle Anyway, mini-moan over..
  10. I was driving down Market st. past Union Sq. yesterday about that time, so could have been me.. (Azure Blue coupe)
  11. A wheel spacer isn't a particularly difficult piece of engineering for an experienced manufacturer, and as long as the materials are comparable (not sure on Eibach spec) the I don't see why they would be in anyway inferior to a German brand.. If you have plenty stock I'll maybe look at 2x pairs of 20mm next week (assuming I buy the car this weekend), and could collect if possible. Ross
  12. No point starting another wanted post for me then.. 20mm Eibachs desired..
  13. On the off chance anyone is looking to sell a set of good condition used ARBs, Eibach, Whiteline etc. I realise these can be bought new from various traders Thanks, Ross
  14. Good luck with your sale. As above, great little cars, and over-looked as drivers cars by many. I am running one just now as a daily driver, and I'd go so far as to say on some roads, it drives better than my VX220 (which is set-up with good-quality Nitron suspension, track tyres etc.)
  15. Will take these if still available. Ross
  16. Just on the off chance you end up not using the engine, please advise as I may be interested...
  17. I bought these recently to put on the rear of my Z as it was up for sale. It's now gone and therefore these are no use to me... Both tyres have 5mm of tread, no signs of damage, puncture repair or uneven wear. The cros tread 'banding' is just where the two tyres were taped together. Maybe suitabilty for track use, or like me, you need a pair of decent tyres that won't break the bank. I'd like back what I paid for them - £80 ono. I can easily tape them back up, and stick an address on them if you wish to arrange collection from my work. Thanks, Ross
  18. Only thing - these won't fit standard wheels, aftermarket only...
  19. If they are decent condition, then def, almost twice that for a new set if 4...
  20. Cheers Alex, let me know what you have and prices. No great rush just now mate, just when you have a min.. Ross
  21. Looking to sell my Z, but rear tyres are down to ~3mm, so I fancy putting a set of part worn tyres - no point putting on new. Currently using Avon ZZ3's all round, so anything similar, but decent, e.g. Falken / Bridgestone / Toyo.. Must have minimum 5mm tread. Let me know what you have. Thanks, Ross
  22. I'm trying to sell a very similar age / spec / colour / condition car and I'm struggling for any luck either mate..! Maybe the time of year! Good luck with the sale, hope it goes soon Ross
  23. Just a quick bit of advise on the price I've put my Z up for sale at. Is this realistic given market conditions (what ever these may be)? Link below: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1479508.htm I guess my location isn't particularly useful compared to others (although its not exactly the other side of the moon!), but I've had no real interest, so I'm guessing its a bit off (I.e. high) priced.. Opinions welcome of course, but preferably realistic views rather than those of the rose-tinted nature Thanks!! Ross
