    Plenum Spacer

For Sale a Plenum Spacer which I bought a few months ago, but never gto around to fitting. My Z is up for sale now, so have no use... I can't remember which size it is. Measured, its ~9.5mm thickness (perhaps someone can confirm typical sizes - 5/16th"?). Manufacturer is unknown, but is very good quality, and anodised blue. Does not come with a fitting kit, but this basically consists of some longer bolts / spacers and shouldn't be difficult to come by. Please provide me with an email address for pics. Note that I'm currently working abroad, till next week at least, so would be unable to post till I'm back. £50 + £5 delivery Many Thanks, Ross
  4. Ah, so how easy is it to remove these security features..? Is this a physical removal, or purely ECU based? I dropped those guys in the States an email to ask if they provide the security removal as a service... Thanks for the replys
  5. MMM, very interesting indeed! So just ship the ECU / harness off to these guys, they tweak it to remove the various security features and restriction, and Houston we have lift off... No more worries about locating an engine with all the various additional electronics, keys etc. Also, I remember Alex gave me a quick peek at his roadster, and he had a traditional throttle cable and rocker in use rather than the fly-by-wire throttle pedal. I wonder if this is where he located this particular mod. Thanks for the info Ian
  6. If I was keeping my Zed I'd bite you're hand off - seems like a good upgrade package and given the price of uprated springs, dampers and ARB's, looks to be a very good deal!
  7. Transverse Layout Plus, I wish..! Yeah, but for instant grunt, response and just generally sounding good (plus a bit of willy waving at the fact that 3.5 liters in the back is fairly uncommon), a V6 can't be bettered... Plus this car already comes with a turbo lump, so where's the fun in that!
  8. I was down at Alex's place recently, and did notice he had a few of these engine 'in stock'... I would imagine its not the engine that the hard to find bit though, it's all the little bits and pieces that allow an engine to work with out the need to spend £1000's on standalone engine management and custom / specialist work to get the thing running correctly. I guess that's where research comes in- stock power / torque would be sufficient in a car 300kgs lighter than the Zed... The car would be a Toyota (Hey, at least its still Japanese..?!?!)
  9. Fairly random post (and maybe in the wrong section) but it is roughly Zed related - I'm looking at the VQ35DE as a possible candidate for installation into another car (I won't say what, although installaton would be transverse, and not front-wheel drive ). Prices for these engines seems to have dropped easily into the sub £2k mark, as Zed's are unfortuately stacked and written off, therefore they 'look' to be good value for what you get. Therefore I'm compiling a list of what I could potentially need from a broken Z. What springs to mind: Complete engine and ancillaries, including all intake and exhaust manifolds (A/C and power steering pump not required) ECU, engine loom etc. Fly-by-wire throttle pedal Engine immobiliser system / transponder key?? Anything else specific to the Zed that is required to properly operate this engine (I mean those little things that's likely to be missed).. Its all just speculation at this stage, but can't think of a better place to ask! Also, any pics of a built up engine and dimensions would be just about perfect.. Thanks, Ross
  10. Hi Folks, Since it looks like I'm selling my Z , I have a full set of 4 Eibach hubcentric wheel spacers available. These are the type with studs already in place, so no mucking about with replacing you're original studs. Just remove you're wheels and bolt on... Spacers are the first thing I would do if buying another 350Z with standard wheels, simply give it the stance it should have came with from the factory... One pair is about a year old (bought from another club member) and the other pair barely 6 months old, so all in pretty much as new condition (after a wee wipe ). In addition to the four above, another two 20mm spacers come for free. One is in perfect condition, but the other one has had a stud bore cut through (previous owner had to remove using a grinder!), and you can't buy single spacers from Eibach! It is therefore not recommended for use... Maybe repairable, but better kept for perhaps show use or something..?? So basically a spare 20mm spacer... Price: £170.00ovno + £10.00 delivery Many Thanks, Ross Ps.- Won't be available till I get a chance to remove this weekend...
  11. Hmmm, thinking about these... Few questions though for people in the know: 1) What sort of difference will these wheels make to the handling of a standard Zed, if any? Its the change on offset, and non-staggered arrangement I'm thinking about... 2)Tyres - I think for these wheels I'd want to put some 275's on the rear, and my current 245/45/18 tyres on the front.. Do'able? Whats profile - 275/40/18..? 3)Weight - Any ideas on the weight of these compared to the standard Rays? 4)I'm guessing the car shown there is lowered..? Thanks!! Ross

    Wheel advice

Let us know what you do (and pics once you're done it), as I'm thinking of getting my standard Rays resprayed in a dark anthracite (almost black, but not quite, more metallic) for my Blade Silver coupe, but just can't decide as I haven't seen any pics of this done as yet... Ross
  13. Thanks for the replys. I was hoping it would be a time-consuming DIY job only - Scalpel I can cope with, but think I'll avoid the oven (I always burn the garlic bread anyway..). I presume you have to heat the unit to remove the headlight cover? I'll maybe investigate these plastic strips, but don't think I'll bother if theres a strong possibility I will end up with a distorted silver mess at the end of it... Cheers, Ross
  14. Hi Folks, The orange reflector strip in the headlights, can this be easily accessed for removal or repainting (either silver to match the car, or black)? Or what is required? Does anybody supply the reflector strip in different colours? I'm also unsure if its an MOT requirement?? Obviously I will need to be careful to a) not damage anything, and ensure both units are resealed properly, I'm assuming of course they are sealed units, but if not, better.. Any advice from those who have done this before would be appreciated... Thanks! Ross
  15. I was thinking of getting my wheels redone in a dark anthracite or similar (fancied black, but I think it can look a tad cheap occasionally...) I was acutally thinking of getting them painted rather than powder coating, but anyway, do you mind me asking how much they charged..? I wouldn't be going for the polished lip. Ps. - My excuse will be I need a new front tyre, so technically I would be saving on getting that fitted..!
  16. Can anybody post it here, as my work blocks me from pistonheads...
  17. Hi, Is the intake manifold gasket re-useable and in good condition..? If so I'll take it if you can post... Thanks, Ross
  18. Right, so they basically checked over the connection etc. (unknown if they took out the sensors themselves and checked, don't think so), reset the ECU, clearing any fault codes, and added fuel cleaner. Engine light is now off, and the car seems to be driving as it should, although it was anyway. Fault code is P1167 Thanks, Ross
  19. Is it the front sensors on the manifolds or the rear sensors after the cats ? If it is the rear sensors then you will not require to replace the sensors as I have a cheap fix for that as I posted previously. What were the fault codes ? Alex. Alex, I was told it was the front sensors, so maybe not so cheap a fix... It appears that it wasn't damage caused by bottoming out, but general wear and tear... (maybe scraping the underside of the car pushed it over the edge!) I haven't picked the car up yet, possibly this afternoon, but I'll definately post up fault codes if I can get them... Thanks again for your advice. Ross
  20. Heard back from the garage there. They were able to fully access the fault codes and identified the N/S front O2 sensor as not working correctly. Also advised that the O/S front is looking dodgy and should be replaced... He did say he has put in a fuel cleaner, and the light has gone off (self-cleaning apparently..???), but advised that it may come back on if the sensor is truly capute! So not a drastic problem, but can anybody advise where is best to purchase a replacement sensor or any other solutions..? Thanks Again, Ross
  21. Alex, Thanks for the advice. I put the car into a garage this morning (A.W Autotech in Aberdeen) to check out. The guy said they can sometimes read fault codes from Nissans, but would try and let me know. I also advised him to look under the car for any obvious damage. Will report back. Regarding the CEL light illunination, according to the manual, constantly on advises that there is a fault which should be diagnosed, but advises no restrictions on driving. A flashing light advises you to limit speed to 43mph, and avoid excessive engine loading etc. otherwiese damage could occur. and obviously get it checked out. Note that neither fault condition advises you not to drive the car... Ross
  22. My car does the same. I think it could be the rear anti-roll bar links. I was told one needed replaced when my car was serviced recently. I've got them (decided to buy a pair), but haven't had a chance to fit, so can't confirm that this is the cause of the noise... Ross
