  1. Think I know what's breaking the forum, the CHAT! Erh, we did a bit of a stress test earlier *2min ago, posting big sized photos seems to have crashed the whole forum maybe restrict size or buffer on the forum... don't get rid of the pics though it's a cool thing

  4. I'm sure it's only a small dent in the wallet if you think about the total build cost, a small price to pay to keep things from blowing up Assuming you can get better quality than the cometic/cosworth ones from the custom builders. assuming that yes.
  5. I know, will be interesting to see where this leads me Will keep the cabling to a minimum and slicing, looking into different power options for the screen now... might even go down the route of a female cigarette lighter to give it power Already have some leads coming in from the engine room for the vacuum hose and power for the boost solenoid so that'll be fine, not to happy about having to rip the interior out though to mount the screen in the cubby though. Need to do the bose hack too
  6. It's to hook up the cameras to the PC (won it btw) 7£
  7. Update to spec; Just had to get some more stuff Planning on using Centrafuse, just looking to see if it does all I want first. Camera Got two of these: RearView Reversing Camera NightVision Waterproof+5MLead And hopefully will win this one: So plan is to use one facing forward and one facing rear. Need to figure out if I can have this easily activated when needed now.
  8. Well... I've decided to finally get going with my carputer build for my Z. Ordered a screen a long long time ago and it finally arrived today after paying customs and other administrative charges, turned out it's not a touch screen version. Thank you Mr China seller for hiding that fact very well Ordered a new one from a UK fleebay seller just now *guess the old one can be used as a video screen for the little one in the car, was thinking I could hook up the Desire HD to it with some vids for travelling longer distances. Or replace the current DIN unit and have two monitors in the Z... (final plan will have to wait it seems) So current kit: Motherboard: AT4NM10-I Atom D410 (Single-core) BGA559 (on Board) Chipset Intel Memory 2DDR2 DDR2 800/667 4.0G Onboard VGA Y 256 Graphics Slot N SB SATA PSU 12V 150W 24Pin DC-DC ATX Mini ITX Car PC Power Supply http://i.ebayimg.com/05/!B28pOqQEGk~$(KGrHqIOKiQE)7lSG2BcBMkcEnjCTg~~_12.JPG Memory Whatever memory DDR2 type that I have in boxes at home (probably will go for 4GB just to be cool, not that I'll need more then 2GB) Network ZyXEL NWD2105 150Mbps 802.11n Ultra Compact Wireless USB2.0 Adapter Bluetooth Have a usb dongle here somewhere Keyboard Have a bluetooth keyboard here in a box somewhere Screen Lilliput 7" 669 669GL Touch Screen HDMI DVI VGA Monitor Computer box not fully decided yet what to go for here, can get a 'free' box to host my mdk easily enough but think I'll go down the route of making a board out of plastic and mold it a bit. I'm planning on using the cubby behind the passenger seat as the full enclosure. Fans Planning on using a few 12v computer fans to cool the setup, have a box somewhere O/S Not decided fully what to go for but it will be Windows, possible WinXP but looking at Win7 with a possible dual boot into Android. I'm planning on hooking the car up to some battery source when parked at the house and have the system active so I an 'dropbox' files to and from easily enough. Aslo good for 'tuning' the setup while remoting in from the comfortable sofa More to come. Any input gladly taken.

  10. Wasnt anywhere near it last night Someone must have rebooted it though - to the bat cave
  11. Sorry to say it but it'll just be a pc and a screen doing normal pc stuff, it ain't going to rock your boat
  12. LOL possibly overheated with 5 people in there actually trying to hold a conversation
  13. will be another build thread about the car shortly
  14. ok, decided to get a new motherboard and a usb wifi dongle and a power supply for 12v... will re-use the memory I got and hdd's lying around. should be ok ? Better start a build thread so.
  15. well yeah might just strip the dell 9200 out to the mdk and order a power supply from china or mp3car.com
  16. yeah but that stuff is all controlled mate (goes to the tip and cruncher )
  17. I'd be interested in the PC parts, not the screen, cubby or buttons.
  18. dunno, searching Was going to but the sx280 is going for something else and can't be arsed sourcing all the parts from different places I think.
  19. Ok going to get my lilliputt screen friday after custom clearance Was planning on using a SX280 DELL for my mini pc computer in the car but now I need to replace my DELL dimension 9200 tower box for the SX280 (long story) so that's no longer possible. Was then almost getting one of Neilp but he bottled out So now I'm left with either taking the mdk from the 9200 and make a suitable plate for the car and fit it open in the car or get a more suitable box for the car. Either way I need to spend some monies, any suggestions? Cheers
