  1. Just install a great mod like a cold air intake? Electric supercharger? Big Muffler? Magnetic fuel line ionizer? Awesome wing? Are you getting no respect from your friends for your newly found power? As we all know, these are high end and sophisticated modifications. Some may be TOO sophisticated to actually show up on a traditional dyno. So here we have: The Butt Dyno. Simply place it in the seat, and drive fast, weaving in and out of traffic. (On a race course, of course.) Now you can tell your friends with confidence "That oil-saturated air filter gave me 20 horses!"
  2. DONT Get a new engine for 4.5k instead
  3. I've wondered what happens to the "spare" O2 sensors too. How many of the original 4 sensors are left? I would guess an uprev remap is essential for this setup so that the resulting CELs can be disabled? There will be only two that would not have any where to live the ones in the cats that got two decat pipes installed instead. The other two sensors sit on the exhaust manifold / downpipe / headers. I've wondered what happens to the "spare" O2 sensors too. How many of the original 4 sensors are left? I would guess an uprev remap is essential for this setup so that the resulting CELs can be disabled? I had a CEL issue with the cat's once I'd had my XYZ pipe fitted. I took the car back to Mark and he tinkled with the ECU and told it not to look for the cat that was once there?? All is well no issues. Closed loop?
  4. Nice numbers Motordyne XYZ with race cat > ? Any photos of the pipe that obviously sits after the XYZ pipe that has the race cat? Does the O2 sensors stick into that one then? (two?) What does she drive like now?
  5. Ah you dont NEED it, its a good to have if you need it down at the track... Plenty of people dont bring more then a helmet for tracking and they are fine.... if bad things happen it's always good to have spares though. Would be best to have a trailer actually and just stick the car on that and pull it with your shed.
  6. Sweet story mate, chucked more then once The car is driving VERY well! fair play for getting on the ring without prior track experience! So all in what will be different next time ?
  7. Cool kudos, make a list and post it. could do but im only going for 4-5mods,prob be a short post,3k budget will get me +30bhp max, done the f1 on a na supra's and its more trouble than its worth & a bucket of money. sorry to the op for highjacking the post. thats cool, so take a baseline please and then what you get for each mod... wont be 100% since the mod made prior might be helping the mods ...
  8. not many aftermarket tb's for the Z really some have ported ones but see little reason in that. What 'better' induction system do you have? Whats your budget for the project? Why is this posted in FI if you're not planning on going FI? You could get a fly by wire TB and use an aftermarket EMS if you REALLY wanted too. I bet you that the pop charger you got on the car at the moment is loosing power...
  9. youll be safer on the track then the trip there!
  10. ALL 350z,s will retune to the air fuel ratio that is in the template in the ECU this is what we tweak when we remap , the JDM is no different to any other 350Z I am afraid. I should know a JDM is my daily driver. I tuned this car, what he hasnt said we have priced to fit decat pipes and a XYZ Y pipe with a race cat , this is the preferred route will tell customers that works and isnt to noisy. mmm sweet, stand corrected. not sure how I got the number I did with my std ECU when I had a tune done... possibly it was on a "learn" at that stage Out of interest Id more the likely go down the route of needing a Y pipe with race cat in it, can you PM me price and shipping to EIRE? (maybe a photo would be sweet too)
  11. DO I not need to get the cover plate off to do that? Think there is a quicker way...
  12. thats the face lift one, husky organised a pre facelift one. I blame the drink...
  13. Hi lads, since the post regarding some base models of JDM's not having LSD etc I've tried to figure out without taking the car out and checking if it has LSD or not... so easy I thought I'll figure out what model it is. JDM 2003 model with the following: NO buttons on steering wheel Leather seats, heated, adjustable TCS on lower right hand side of steering 17" OEM alloys Standard brakes (NON Brembo) HID lights Chrome pedals BOSE system ^ what model is this? ===
  14. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NISSAN-350Z-AFTER ... 20aa57a2d3 Cheaper then normal?
  15. The aim is to get the exhaust gas out to atmosphere as quickly as possible, this maximises power. The gas leaving the engine only has a finite amount of energy to escape. If you make the tube too big the gas fills the larger space before it can move further down the tube to atmosphere, this takes up more of the energy and slows the exhaust gas so that it will take longer to exit - this loses you power. If the pipe is too small however you will get pressure in the pipe which tries to force the gas backwards so you have to find a compromise. Huge pipes like the japspeed k1 might work on a FI car where the energy/amount of exhaust gas is so much greater but on a naturally aspirated car massive pipes fail again and again. I always thought it was funny to see 1.0 saxos and the with dirty great exhausts which would actually take a lot of the power away. Interestingly the stock back section is very good according to Mark at Abbey motorsport, exceptional for up to 400bhp. I was curious how this was so as its normally a no to have a larger pipe such as my motordyne xyz going into a smaller diameter rear section. The reason he tells me is because by the time the gas reaches the rear section its lost so much energy it doesnt matter that the diameter is smaller. Made instant sense to me and as always illustrates why exhaust choice is so crucial on naturally aspirated cars. Might be good for N/A cars up to 400hp (fly?) Some lads on the US forum with FI setups had to get rid of the end system for restriction of airflow... it reminds me I need to get my system looked at actually... (wasnt finished) If I was to redo the exhaust I'd go for a similar system that MR Lizard on here uses if was to keep her NA seems to be a well build piece of kit... I do like the ART can type systems, read up on the theory behind it and pretty impressed about it...
